It is a time to introduce a concept of lubrication to space systems. Minimum amount of lubricant should be supplied to a contact interface instead of preparing too much lubricant on surfaces of the earth. In situ controllable lubrication method is wanted to overcome unexpected tribo-troubles in space. Tribo-coating, which forms a thin solid film in nm-scale by vacuum deposition during friction, is a promising lubrication method for space.

This paper proposes a technique for analyzing mutual relation of an entangled cord by consistent labeling. Cords are often entangled unexpectedly and sometimes they even produce knots. The purpose of this study is to provide an algorithm to resolve such entangled cords automatically. It may as well have applications in future to recognizing the structure of tree branches, angiography, abdominal intestines, etc.

We have developed a system that measures the visual contrast of people of various ages (from teens to those in their 70s) when they look at different color patterns. We have applied this system to Web-safe colors (216 colors), and have developed an age-related visual contrast checker that can be used to quickly determine whether a color pattern consisting of any two colors is easy to see.

This paper discusses on the machine loading and tool allocation (MLTA) problem. Mathematical formulation of the problem is given first. Then a heuristic approach based on Group Technology (GT) is presented to deal with the MLTA problem effectively. By using this approach, part-tool group generation and their assignment to adequate machines can easily be obtained in consideration of the work load on each machine, the number of tool-set replacement, and the total number of cutting tools required through the interactive setting of the desired machine utilization rate.

This paper deals with a problem on the selection of alternative tools in a flexible manufacturing system (FMS) where a lot of tools are required to produce a large variety of product items. An approach using branch and bound method is proposed to minimize a total number of tools required through the optimal use of the alternative tools. In this approach, tools are initially divided into tool subgroups based on graph theory for the purpose of the effective search of the optimal solution. A small example is also presented to highlight the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

In this paper, we introduce the classes H(p,q,k),K(p;k) of operators determined by the Heinz-Kato-Furuta inequality and Holer-McCarthy inequality. We characterize relationship between p-quasihyponormal, $\kappa$-quasihyponormal and $\kappa$-p-quasihyponormal operators. And it is proved that every operator in K(p;1) for some $0 is paranormal.

We shall discuss on some vanishing theorems of harmonic sections of a Riemannian vector bundle over a compact Riemannian manifold with boundary. In relating the results of H. Donnelly - P. Li ([4]), for special case of harmonic forms satisfying absolute or relative boundary problem, our results improve the vanishing results of T. Takahashi ([9]).

It is known that the analytic operator-valued Feynman integral exists for some "potentials" which we so singular that they must be given by measures rather than by functions. Corresponding stability results involving monotonicity assumptions have been established by the author and others. Here in our main theorem we prove further stability theorem without monotonicity requirements.

We give a new characterization of Browder's theorem through equality between the pseudo B-Weyl spectrum and the generalized Drazin spectrum. Also, we will give conditions under which pseudo B-Fredholm and pseudo B-Weyl spectrum introduced in [9] and [25] become stable under commuting Riesz perturbations.

Low temperature polysilicon (LTPS) TFT LCOs are in production today at sizes ranging from 0.33" for Viewfinders to 17" for LCD TVs with 21.3" recently demonstrated. Because of their form factor, resolution, brightness and other benefits, LTPS TFT LCD unit shipments, revenues and capacity are expected to grow rapidly, particularly for mobile applications. However, despite the strong outlook, LTPS TFT LCOs are still faced with numerous challenges from a market and technology perspective. LTPS TFT LCD producers were surveyed on which of the current challenges were the most problematic among other questions.
