Purpose: To show the results in term of pain and functional recovery in the mid-term follow up of total ankle replacement. Materials and Methods: We followed up 7 patients who had undergone total ankle arthroplasty during the periods between April 1990 and May 1997. They were evaluated after mean follow up of 3.6 years. Results: We reviewed these cases with regand to (in terms of) pain, function and alignment according to the Ankle-Hindfoot Scale designed by American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. The average point was 78. Conclusion: Total ankle replacement especially unconstrained type seems good alternative to arthrodesis in selected cases of ankle arthrosis.

A tibialis posterior and flexor digitorum longus tendon rupture associated with a closed bimalleolar ankle fracture occured in a 30 years old man due to traffic accident. The tendon injury was not recognized before surgery but was diagnosed at the time of operation. The treatment was open reduction and internal fixation of the ankle fracture with primary repair of the ruptured tendons. one year postoperatively, he had a nearly full range of ankle and toes motion without pain and a radiologic normal longitudinal arch. This associated tendon injury, although rare, maybe first time in reviewed similar reports, should be considered in the management of ankle fracture because the tendon rupture could easily have been overlooked.

External stereotaxic irradiation of intracranial lesions has recently gained its interest in the fields of not only radiation oncolgy but also neurosurgery. Its main goal is to deliver large doses to a relatively small target volume. Authors present methods of the stereotaxic radiosurgical irradiation using 6 MV linear accelerator (Nelac-6) and isodose distribution by therapeutic computer (Therac 2000). We attempt to demonstrate the dose distribution on verification films.

The purpose of this study is to explore the culture of clothing of subgroups among adolescents by residence. In this research informants were selected by selective sampling and ethnographic methods such as field work depth interviews and open-ended descriptions were employed to interpret their culture of clothing. The results were followed. First our adolescents enjoyed the popular song as leisure and these popular culture was their inspiration source of style. Second adolescents were grouping the Kang-Bouk and the adolescents group preferred the style of popular singers and the Kang-Nam adolescents group preferred the musical competence of singers and specific type particularly Hip-Hop style. And in acception pattern of fashion style the Kang-Bouk groups accepted the recent fashion style continuously and wanted to be striking while the Kang-Nam groups accepted the various Hip-Hop styles and sought to comfort and suitability of that style. Third to consider the connotations of marketing the Kan-Bouk groups shopped on the street perceived as fashionable among peer groups and sought to the lower price but the Kang-Nam groups used the shops selling their original ip-Hop style without regard to the price and sites. Although there existed a two years' difference between the first and the second research(1996-1998) subgroups among adolescents according to the residence have had their own culture of clothing constantly. And a segmentation tendency by clothing behavior within the same adolescent generation is revealed more visibly.

Objectives: Many studies have been reported about Sasang constitutional distribution of cerebrovascular disease(CVD) patients. But there has been little study about the risk factors of normal persons between Sasang constitutions. So we studied to evaluate the risk of CVD between Sasang constitutions. Methods: We retrospectively studied subjects without previous stroke($age{\geq}40$) who visited east-west medical examination center in Kang Nam Korean Hosipital, Kyung Hee University for last 2 years(1998.8.1.${\sim}$2000.7.31.). Sasang constitutional differentiation was performed by Questionnaire for the Constitution Classification(QSCC) II and subjects who couldn't be classifiea by QSCC II were excluded. Results : Total 363 subjects participated in this study(Taeyangin 0, Taeumin 103, Soyangin 113, Soumin 92, obscure 55). Diabetes mellitus(p<0.05), hyperlipidemia(p<0.01), obesity(p=0.000) were significantly prevalent in Taeumin. Hypertension and heart disease had no significant difference between Sasang constitutions. Conclusions: This study showed that the risk factors of CVD were more prevalent in Taeumin. Therefore we guess that Taeumin has high risk of CVD.

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is an inherited disorder of collagen biosynthesis and structure, characterized by skin hyperextensibility, joint hypermobility, aberrant scars, and tissue friability. Besides the skin, skeleton (joint) and vessels, other organs such as the eyes and the intestine can be affected in this syndrome. Accordingly, interdisciplinary cooperation is necessary for a successful treatment. Three basic surgical problems are arising due to an EDS: decreased the strength of the tissue causes making the wound dehiscence, increased bleeding tendency due to the blood vessel fragility, and delayed wound healing period. Surgery patients with an EDS require an experienced surgeon in treating EDS patients; the treatment process requires careful tissue handling and a long postoperative care. A surgeon should also recognize whether the patient shows a resistance to local anesthetics and a high risk of hematoma formation. This report describes a patient with a wide open wound on the foot dorsum and delayed wound healing after the primary approximation of the wound margins.

The aim of this article is to investigate the religious medical treatments performed by Kang Jeungsan as recorded in The Canonical Scripture, the main scripture of the Korean new religion, Daesoon Jinrihoe. The unity of mind and body is the core principle underlying Kang Jeungsan's religious medical treatments. He believed treating the mind of his patients was more important and necessary than treating their diseases. As such, he believed the only way to treat critical illness was to keep preserve the mind-body unity of his patients. Massage was a physical therapy often used by Kang Jeungsan. The medicinal materials that he commonly used were the Four-substance Decoction (四物湯 samultang), Minor Bupleurum Decoction (小柴胡湯 soshihotang), quince (木瓜 mokgwa *Pseudocydonia sinensis; not papaya), and rehmannia (生地黃 saengjihwang). Kang Jeungsan's religious medical treatments were characteristic of Daoist healing methods. His Daoist style healing methods included multiple techniques such as treating diseases through correcting Qi, exorcising malevolent entities, transferring diseases to a different host, removing a disease through the changing of clothes, pouring medicine into the ground, combining the usage of talisman and incantations, and treating the common people. Among these techniques, Jeungsan's pouring medicine into the ground was especially innovative.

Scholars of new religious movements have emphasized the role of "second founders," such as Judge J.F. Rutherford for the Jehovah's Witnesses, Brigham Young for the Mormons, or Deguchi Onisaburo for Oomoto. They systematize and structure movements often created by the "first founders" with a minimal organization only. The paper argues that the model for the sequence first founder/second founder described by these scholars is the relationship between Jesus and Paul of Tarsus at the origins of Christianity. It proposes a comparison between Jesus of Nazareth and Kang Jeungsan, who established the tradition leading to present-day Daesoon Jinrihoe. It then summarizes the biography of Jo Jeongsan, recognized by Daesoon Jinrihoe as its "second founder" within the same tradition, and discusses the analogies between his connection to the "first founder," Kang Jeungsan, and the connection Paul of Tarsus established with Jesus Christ. The paper considers recent scholarship about Paul, often described as the "New Perspective on Pauline Scholarship." Paul never personally met Jesus Christ, except after the latter's death through a spiritual revelation, just as Jo Jeongsan never met Kang Jeungsan, except after his death, when he manifested himself to him in spirit. Nonetheless, Paul was able to decisively shape the largest branch among the followers of Jesus Christ, just as Jo Jeongsan originated the lineage leading to Daesoon Jinrihoe, currently the largest religious order among those recognizing Kang Jeungsan as the incarnated Supreme God.

Eight patients with intracranial tumors or arteriovenous malformation (AVM)s which were less than 3 cm in diameter were treated by a technique of stereotactic radiotherapy during the 4months period from July 1988 through October 1988 at the Division of Radiation Therapy, Kang-Nam St. Mary's Hospital, Catholic University Medical College. The patients were diagnosed as AVMs in 3 cases, acoustic neurinoma, craniopharyngiom (recurrent), hemangioblastoma, pineocytoma, and pituitary microadenoma in each case. There are several important factors in this procedure, such as localization system, portal, field size, radiation dose, and perioperative supportive care. It is suggested that stereotactic radiotherapy may be peformed safely with a radiation dose of 12-30 Gy. So this nonivasive procedure can be used to treat unresectable intracranial tumors or AVMs. Of these, clinical symptoms had been regressed in AVMs in 2 cases at 3 months and 2 months after Stereotactic radiotherapy, one of whom was confirmed slightly regressed on the follow-up angiogram. And also craniopharyngioma and pineocytoma was minimally regressed on 3 month follow-up CT.
