In this paper, we introduce the characteristics of ride comfort for KTX(Korea Train express) and HSR 350(Korea High Speed Train project). The concept of term "ride comfort" is equivocal. Generally it is defined as the vehicle vibration. There are many studies on evaluation method of ride comfort for railway. In the case of KTX, the ride comfort has been evaluated according to ISO 2631 standard. But the ride comfort for HSR 350 has been assessed by UIC 513R. We have reviewed the ride comfort for KTX and HSR 350 by same method, such as ISO 2631 and UIC 513R, and compared the result of KTX with that of HSR 350.

The era of express train in Korea has come since April in 2004. The KTX(Korea Train Express) which has introduced the technology of TGV of France is regraded as good as the ICE of Germany or Shinkansen of Japanese in its hardware aspects. However there are still many things to be improved in its software aspects such as the quality of services, since the new express railway system is in the early beginning stage. To improve the quality of services, we should first measure and analyze the current level of the service quality. Using SERVQUAL model, the service level of KTX is measured and analyzed in this paper. Issues on how to improve the service quality are discussed based on the measurement and analysis.

A purpose of this study measure the acceleration of operating KTX high speed train to find out something wrong to obtain reliable the acceleration measurement data. The existing measurement system come about a difference between measurement data of running off the track with the acceleration measurement data of operating KTX high speed train. Therefore, the measurement system needs make up for the weak points in the current system. This study analyze existing measurement system and the acceleration measurement data to introduce the synchronization of the existing measurement system and the acceleration measurement and will be reasonable to this sampling through field test.

Since the beginning of civilization, people live in the times that changes rapidly everyday. Above all things, In April, 2004 the first opening of KTX(high-speed railway) that has been considered as the greatest revolutionary project shrinks the whole nation into a quarter of a day life zone and has repeated the constant change and development. But now, In comparison with ordinary train system KTX fails to notice revenue for travel-product and other many factors of increased revenue. This study introduces and analyzes the present condition of high-speed railway and indicate 'the plan to increase revenue' and 'the effect of creating revenue' through a travel-product on the basis of the travel-products connected with KTX. This study focuses on 'KTX memory train travel' and propose revenue and advertisement-effect created from targeting the middle-aged market. In addition, For improving KORAIL's image and approaching the customer more and more friendly, it grasp diverse events and advertisement plans.

This study presents the wheel wear measurement results of Saemaeul train running on the conventional line. The train set included three different cars which have different shape of wheel profile including KNR and KTX profile currently used in Saemaeul. Train set was operated on Seoul-Pusan line with fixed train set formation for commercial service. Wheel wear measurements were peformed periodically. Here, we describe some results.

CURVE SQUEAL NOISE IS THE INTENSE HIGH FREQUENCY TONAL THAT CAN OCCUR WHEN A RAILWAY VEHICLE TRAVERSES A CURVE OR A SWITCH. THE HIGH NOISE LEVEL CAUSES ANNOYANCE FOR PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD OF THE SQUEALING RAILWAY TRACK AS WELL AS FOR THE PASSENGERS IN CARS WITH CURVES. THIS PAPER EXAMINES THE SPECTRAL SOUND DISTRIBUTION IN CURVES FOR KTX TRAIN. THE FREQUENCY RANGE IS FROM AROUND 4,000 TO ALMOST 16,000Hz, WITH NOISE LEVELS UP TO 92dB IN CURVE R400.

When the high speed train (KTX) departs from station in the high-speed line, sometimes on board signal disappears, which causes a hindrance of the operation punctuality, therefore, we have a research objective to verify the causes of hindrance and to find an improvement plan. In the process of research, when train left, we applied sand on the rail to improve adhesive power, whose sand has an effect on the ATC(Automatic Train Control) signal wave. We detected & analyzed signal waves which came from detecting device by changing operation condition in accordance with sand material

The high speed train service will be offered for high-quality transport service in existing railway by Korean National Railroad(KNR). Therefore, this paper presents the results of analysis carried out to determine the dynamic response characteristics of deck plate girder bridges which are representative elevated structures of existing railway and to evaluate their suitabilities for supporting Korea Train Express(KTX) trainsets in the speed range 0-250 km/h. Their dynamic characteristics are analyzed concerning structural safety, train-operation safety and passenger comfort. The simplified method for 2-dimensional train/track/bridge interaction analysis is utilized in the analysis of dynamic behaviors of deck plate girder bridges.

There are almost no studies on verification of requirements for high speed rolling stocks by means of RAM goals and on setting RAM goals by means of verification on practical reliability, availability and maintainability for high speed rolling stocks though they are covered in specification of an order that RAM goals asked of rolling stocks are shown for gaining high quality of them and availability when they are in operation. This study is for estimating number of high speed train-sets that would be supplementarily placed an order through verification of RAM goals of a project for the introduction of KTX-II 100 cars. It verify that optimized requirements for high speed rolling stocks by relatively comparison with between requirements for train-sets through setting RAM goals and requirements for train-sets through analysis of prospects for management balance with high speed rolling stocks.

In Korea, the modification of working conditions of the train crews, with the launch of the KTX, demands a new set of regulations. The analysis on the french case will be a first step, in spite of socio-economical differences between Korea and France, in making new rules for the train crews of the KTX.
