  • The development of the European Railway Traffic Management System (ERTMS) began in 1989 as part of the European Union policy to establish a unified and interoperable railway route in Europe. It is a trend that ERTMS/ETCS(European Train Control System) is becoming an international standard in the railway signaling system. As the solution to this situation, the domestic railway signaling field is also at a time when it is more necessary to develop the technology of the train control system considering interoperability. The European Railway Agency (ERA) has proposed B3R2 (Baseline 3 Release 2) for new ETCS-equipped trains after 2020.12.31. In Korea, Baseline 2.2.0 to 2.3.0d on Gyeongbu Line, Honam Line, Jeolla Line, and Gyeongchun Line was installed and now is under operating. As the Baseline upgrade continues, technical considerations and economic considerations are an occurring trend. In this paper, we analyzed the main functions and compatibility of the currently distributed European standard ERTMS/ETCS Baseline 3 and presented a plan to apply the domestic KTCS(Korean Train Control System) Baseline in the near future.

  • The beginning of a new railroad history is progressing every year. Seoul's Sillim Line is a new transportation system based on communication technology. Sillim Line is the nation's first wireless communication-based unmanned train control system based on KTCS-M, the national standard. The use of wireless communication technology in the rail transportation system suggests the possibility of exporting to the global rail market. This is the result of the government's development and implementation of various support policies for nurturing the domestic railway industry and for export. In this paper, the status of support for localization of railroad industry technology implemented by the state is reviewed, and the process by which railroad parts are replaced by localized parts is analyzed out of dependence on foreign countries. A study was conducted on the development of a technical support platform to solve the technical difficulties of the industry that occurred in this process.

  • Eleven cases of peripheral arterial injuries treated at Korea University Woo Sok Hospital during these 3 years and 3 months from Feb. 1971Eleven cases of peripheral arterial injuries treated at Korea University Woo Sok Hospital during these 3 years and 3 months from Feb. 1971 to May 1974 were reviewed. Common causes of injuries were stab wound, automobile accidents and iatrogenic injuries during operation. Of the 11 arterial injuries 3 were femoral artery which` was the commonest in frequency and the next was 2 cases of brachial artery. The most frequent type of injury was transection. Laceration, contusion and spasm was also recognized. The need to operate immediately following an injury was emphasized. Operative procedures were end to end anastomosis and saphenous vein graft in 5 and 2 cases, respectively. Other cases were undergone multiple suture ligature due to staphyllococcal infection, insertion of polyethylene catheter, and lateral suture after thromboendarterectomy. Fractures and extensive soft tissue damage associated with arterial injuries with widespread destruction of the collateral circulation aggravated the situation and complicated the amputation of lower extremity in 4 cases. The factors influencing the amputation were time lag, presence of associated injuries and complications.[KTCS 1974;1:109-116] Common causes of injuries were stab wound, automobile accidents and iatrogenic injuries during operation. • Left atrial myxoma is a rare disease and its recurrence is reported to be always possible whenever primary excision is incomplete. Cardiac Myxoma is rare disease of the heart, and it has a little chance of recurrence. We experienced a patient of recurrent left atrial myxoma who was 31 years old, had been gotten excision of Lt. atrial myxoma when she was 28 years of her age. She was gotten mitral valve replacement simultaneously during 2nd operation with difficulty. So we report this case with the review of the literatures. [KTCS 1981;3:260-267]Surgical Treatment of Acute Pyogenic Pericarditis followed the Sepsis Ki Woo Shin, M.D.,* Ho Wan Lee, M.D.* and Dong Jun Lee, M.D.* Two cases of acute pyogenic pericarditis are, one case, 12-year-old male patient, followed the bacteremia of pneumonia and other case, 9 year old female patient, followed the bacteremia of osteomyelitis. After the confirmed diagnosis by pericardial aspiration, the emergency pericardial window was made to relief the severe cardiogenic symptoms. The general symptoms were improved immediately, but 40 days and 15 days after pericardiostomy, in each case, the sign and symptoms of cardiac compression were seen with recurrent cardiac tamponade. Pericardiectomy with median sternotomy was performed in each case and thereafter the patients were discharged without any problems.

  • The Safety Transmission Unit(STU) is a critical device used in railway systems to ensure safe and efficient operations by providing communication between trains and railway infrastructure. It is responsible for transmitting vital information and commands, allowing for the control and coordination of train movements. The STU plays a crucial role in maintaining the safety of passengers, crew, and the overall railway network. This paper presents the design and testing of a STU for the next-generation wireless-based train control system. An analysis of european and domestic standards was conducted to review requirements and ensure the design of a STU for the train control system meets international standards. Based on this analysis, hardware and software designs were developed to create an internationally recognized level of safety for the communication device. To verify the functionality of the STU, a simulator was developed, and it was confirmed that the designed features were successfully implemented.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate factors influencing user's intention to use by expanding TAM(Technology Acceptance Model). Based on this model, this study developed a comprehensive model and user's motivation factors such as extrinsic and intrinsic motivation to describe their intention to accept WCDMA service. For this purpose those who have subscribed to and use the current mobile communication service - all of whom were 13 to 49 years old living in Seoul or other large cities - were surveyed. Structural equation model was conducted to identify and validate the relationship of overall variables relating to mobile service acceptance. The analysis results indicate that intrinsic motivations in mobile service acceptance process have significant impacts on perceived usefulness and perceived ease to use. The results of this study also proposed the way to boost mobile service user's extrinsic and intrinsic motivation for coming up with strategies on how to improve effectiveness of communication and marketing. Future directions and limitations are also discussed.
