  • Many voice recognition systems use methods such as MFCC, HMM to acknowledge human voice. This recognition method is designed to analyze only a targeted sound which normally appears between a human and a device one. However, the recognition capability is limited when there is a group sound formed with diversity in wider frequency range such as dog barking and indoor sounds. The frequency of overlapped sound resides in a wide range, up to 20KHz, which is higher than a voice. This paper proposes the new recognition method which provides wider frequency range by conjugating the Wideband Sound Spectrogram and the Keras Sequential Model based on DNN. The wideband sound spectrogram is adopted to analyze and verify diverse sounds from wide frequency range as it is designed to extract features and also classify as explained. The KSM is employed for the pattern recognition using extracted features from the WSS to improve sound recognition quality. The experiment verified that the proposed WSS and KSM excellently classified the targeted sound among noisy environment; overlapped sounds such as dog barking and indoor sounds. Furthermore, the paper shows a stage by stage analyzation and comparison of the factors' influences on the recognition and its characteristics according to various levels of noise.

  • The interest in biodiesel is increasing rapidly. As a result, the price of vegetable oil that is used as a raw material for biodiesel is skyrocketing. Studies of biodiesel using animal waste as a means of solving these problems are underway. Biodiesel produced from animal fat contains considerably more saturated fatty acids than that produced from vegetable oil. In addition, it has a high cetane number and a high heating value. On the other hand, the fluidity decreases at lower temperatures because of the large amount of saturated fatty acids. For the biodiesel production, waste chicken oil and soybean oil were first purified. The raw materials were mixed at various ratios from 1:9 to 9:1. The methanol / oil molar ratio was also changed from 7 mol to 15 mol. The entire reaction time was one hour. The results showed that the optimal mixing ratio of soybean oil to waste chicken oil was 3:7, and the optimal methanol / oil molar ratio was 13. Moreover, the BD yield was 90.2%, the FAME content was 96.6%, and the LAME content was 4.1%. This result satisfied the Korea Industrial Standard (KSM2413).

  • Cloning and characterization of the gene encoding a solvent-tolerant protease from the haloalkaliphilic bacterium Geomicrobium sp. EMB2 are described. Primers designed based on the N-terminal amino acid sequence of the purified EMB2 protease helped in the amplification of a 1,505-bp open reading frame that had a coding potential of a 42.7-kDa polypeptide. The deduced EMB2 protein contained a 35.4-kDa mature protein of 311 residues, with a high proportion of acidic amino acid residues. Phylogenetic analysis placed the EMB2 gene close to a known serine protease from Bacillus clausii KSM-K16. Primary sequence analysis indicated a hydrophobic inclination of the protein; and the 3D structure modeling elucidated a relatively higher percentage of small (glycine, alanine, and valine) and borderline (serine and threonine) hydrophobic residues on its surface. The structure analysis also highlighted enrichment of acidic residues at the cost of basic residues. The study indicated that solvent and salt stabilities in Geomicrobium sp. protease may be accorded to different structural features; that is, the presence of a number of small hydrophobic amino acid residues on the surface and a higher content of acidic amino acid residues, respectively.

  • This study is to investigate and compare domestic hazardous toys with harmful substances with foreign toys so that we can find out management criteria for in cognitive infants. Actually, commercially used toys have been collected and tested to find out more effective management standard. it is tried to produce evaluation criteria of environmentally harmful substance but variety of product is needed for overcoming actual barrier due to lot of difficulty huge cost, time, objectiveness. Therefore, This study does not cover all the above. Establishment of evaluation criteria for product harmfulness made by Government or Local government should be continued to improve. Foreign reference material for toy product in Europe, USA, Japan have been investigated and domestic product have been collected and tested for containing heavy metals, formaldehyde, phthalate in the study. All the test have been made in accordance with KSM ISO 2124 to measure heavy metal transfer into body. Toy product used for the study have been purchased in the real market and some of them contains harmful elements with over standard. Post management system such as RAPEX to control periodically should be established for plastic toy with low quality product.

  • A gene(lsd1) encoding dextranase from Lipomyces starkeyi KSM22 has been previously cloned, sequenced, and expressed in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The gene consisting of 1,824 base pairs and encoding a protein of 608 amino acids was then cloned into and secretively expressed in Pichia pastoris under the control of the AOX1 promoter. The dextranase productivity of the P. pastoris transformant(pPIC9K-LSD1, 134,000 U/I) was approximately 4.2-fold higher than that of the S. cerevisiae transformant(pYLSD1, 32,000 U/I) cultured in an 8-1 fermentor. Over 0.63 g/l of active dextranase was secreted into the medium after methanol induction. The dextranase of the P. pastoris transformant, as analyzed by SDS-PAGE and Western blotting, showed only one homogeneous band. This dextranase of the P. pastoris transformant showed a broad band near 73 kDa. Rabbit monoclonal antibodies against a synthetic LSD1 peptide mix also recognized approximately 73 kDa.

  • In this paper, I examined the level of fine dust in medical institutions, educational institutions and multi-purposed facilities to grasp the exact state of the present, and decided the level of air-borne particulate(KSM ISO Standard and ISO Standard 14644-1). We compared new proposed cleaner equipped with HEPA Filter with general cleaner and analyzed the rate of removal according to height, air volume and the equipment with the compulsive air intake. Through this comparison, I reached the conclusion as follows: 1. According to the examination, the fine dust of medical institutions, educational institutions and multi-purposed facilities in Kwang Ju is class 9. 2. The filter used in general cleaner on the market is that of HEPA-type, and its removal efficiency for fine particles($0.3{\sim}0.5{\mu}m$) is very low. 3. In the removal efficiency of new proposed cleaner equipped with HEPA Filter, the higher it is, the better, especially more than 180cm in height. 4. In case it is operated for 5 minutes under the condition of the space of $9.4m^{3}$ and the maximum air volume equipped with two induction pipes, we can keep the air cleanness level of 5 ~ 6. 5. To maintain the air cleanness for a long time, if we first operate for 5 minutes at maximum air volume and then operate at medium maximum air volume, we can keep the air cleanness with low energy.

  • A maltopentaose-producing amylase (G5-amylase) from Bacillus megaterium KSM B-404 was applied to retard bread retrogradation. Retrogradation rates were determined by differential scanning calorimetry. Gel permeation chromatography determined changes in maltooligosaccharide composition and the molecular weight profiles of carbohydrate tractions. The baking process produced maltopentaose and maltotriose by the hydrolysis of starch molecules into small units. Amylose and amylopectin degradation as well as maltooligosaccharides produced by the enzyme were likely responsible for retarding starch retrogradation. Overall, addition of G5-amylase reduced the starch retrogradation rate, and was as effective as Novamyl(R), a commercial enzyme.
