  • In 22.9 kV-Y distribution lines, Several kinds of over-voltages occur. These over-voltages are usually surge types except controling the bus voltages for line voltage drop. The measuring over-voltages in 22.9 kV lines is a very difficulty skill. This paper introduces the study on the measurement system of over-voltages in 22.9kV distribution lines. It has been researching in KEPCO since 1995.

  • When precontract pricing is applied, consumers must reserve expecting the amount of electricity to use. But Consumers expecting demand has stochastic property, expecting demand may be different from real demand. To prepare for this problem, spinning reserve is needed. Now I suggest new pricing system that someone has large variance and large elacity pays high price by the accumulated penalty factor. And I suggest the accumulated penalty factor for maximizing social welfare.

Short-term Electrical Load Forecasting Using Neuro-Fuzzy Model with Error Compensation

  • This paper proposes a method to improve the accuracy of a short-term electrical load forecasting (STLF) system based on neuro-fuzzy models. The proposed method compensates load forecasts based on the error obtained during the previous prediction. The basic idea behind this approach is that the error of the current prediction is highly correlated with that of the previous prediction. This simple compensation scheme using error information drastically improves the performance of the STLF based on neuro-fuzzy models. The viability of the proposed method is demonstrated through the simulation studies performed on the load data collected by Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) in 1996 and 1997.

  • Optimal Power Flow (OPF) solution by the Newton's method provides a reliable and robust method to classical OPF problems. The major challenge in algorithm development is to identify the binding inequalities efficiently. This paper proposes a simple strategy to identify the binding set. From the mechanism of penalty shifting with soft penalty in trial iteration, an active binding set is identidied automatically. This paper also suggests a technique to solve the linear system whose coefficients are presented in the matrix from. This implementation is highly efficient for sparsity programming. Case studies for 3, 5, 14, 118 bus and practical TPC-190, KEPCO-306 bus systems are performed as well.

  • Service restoration is an emergency control in distribution constrol centers to restore out-of-service area as soon as possible when a fault occurs in distribution networks. therefore, it requires fast computation time and high quality solutions for load balancing. In this paper. a load balance index and heuristic guided best-first search are proposed for these problem. The proposed algorithm consists of two parts. One is to set up a decision tree to represent the various switching operations available. Another is to identify the most effective the set of switches using proposed search technique and a load balance index. Test results on the KEPCO's 108 bus distribution system show that the performance is efficient and robust.

  • If obstacle in GIS(Gas Insulted Switchgear), its affects are great are on the community and it is consequently demanded lots of difficulities to recover and repair. Accordingly, diagnosis techniques, that are able to prevent from accidents before they happen by providing more stable and highly reliable power effectively and finding sign of the accidents is very important. A novel UHF(Ultra High Frequency)-microstrip antenna is presented. The measured impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is from 0.5[GHz] to 15[GHz] with the stop band from 0.5[GHz] to 10.7[GHz] for VSWR<2. Form results of this study, The antenna is will play an important role for the sensor for insulation diagnosis system by UHF method of real site GIS and power equipment using $SF_6$ gas.

  • In this paper, a method which can detect tracking caused by the insulation deterioration of conduct wiring, is proposed. The computer which take experiment data is learned by neural network algorithm, which has recently been used for the load recognition. The proposed method in our study can be applied to the development of several measuring equipments such as hot-line insulation tester, car earth tester for the detection of tracking under hot-line state.

  • In this paper, an application of the ZVT-PWM(zero-voltage-transition) boost converter, which has great advantage on miniaturization and high power density, to the power factor correction circuit of the EFL(electrodeless fluorescent lamp) inverter is studied. The operation principles of the converter are described to identify the power factor correction characteristic of the inverter. Experimentally obtaining the high power factor above 0.99, it is verified that the power factor correction of the EFL inverter successfully achieved.

  • To obtain a low ground resistance in high resistivity soil, long vertical ground rods are often used. However, if the lightning current or fault current with high frequency flow into the grounding system, the ground impedance is significantly increased because of the inductive behavior. This paper presents how the impulse current works on the long vertical ground electrodes. The different shape of current was impressed between ground rods and auxiliary electrode by using impulse generator and the ground impedance was calculated from the ground potential rise.

  • Ground rods as the discharge path are commonly installed to ensure the safety of human beings and facilities from the surge. Accordingly, proper grounding resistance are specified by the grounding types, and the specified resistance are also required to install the lightning protective facilities. it is needed to analyze the difference between these two resistance through the field test. Therefore, in this paper, the impulse response behavior of the ground rods is analyzed by constructing the test facilities and by testing the ground rods in multi-ground power distribution systems. The impulse responses were analyzed, in transient state, by testing the concrete poles as well since the grounding wires are installed in the concrete poles.
