The notes of the classification system are to improve the accuracy and consistency of classification by providing useful information on classification numbers and items. Even though, several notes are used in KDC, they are not enough to keep up with rapidly developing and expanding knowledge of nowadays. The purpose of this study is to suggest appropriate types and improvements of the notes in KDC 5th edition. In order to achieve these purposes, transition of notes in KDC was analyzed. Notes of DDC 23rd edition, NDC new 9th edition, and KDC 5th edition were also analyzed. Based upon these comparison and analysis, problem and improvement of notes in KDC were suggested.

The purpose of this study aims to provide possible suggestions for the improvement of the korean Decimal Classification System in 21th century through the analysis of history field as the subject of study. As a result of this study, some problems(for example, irrational classification number system, very simplicity of $\lceil$Table of Geographic Areas. Historical Periods. Persons$\rfloor$. improper development of class 900, necessity of some internal tables and $\lceil$Table of Racial, Ethnic, National Groups$\rfloor$, insufficiency of note etc.) were found out. This study can be useful for the future revision of KDC4 because a revolutionary improvement were provided.

The KDC is the most widely used classification system in the elementary school libraries of Korea, but it is only published in full edition. This study is to development abridged KDC edition for elementary school libraries as the subject of KDC. In order to do this, the present writer carried out as follows; to analyse the present state of an class in KDC, to analyse a distribution chart of a class in an practical books and to comes up with a plan of abridged KDC edition as the grounding in the foundation of volume a collection of books. The abridged edition for elementary school libraries is a structural hierarchy of the corresponding full edition which it is based, and is intended for general collections of 20,000 titles or less.

Among the auxiliary sciences of history field in the KDC 5th edition, several classification system problems are found with the fields of Archaeology, Diplomatics, Archival Science, Genealogy, and Biography. The purpose of this study is to propose their improvements. To achieve this purpose, first, this study compared and analyzed the Auxiliary Sciences of History field of LCC, DDC, KDC, NDC, UDC, CLC. Second, this study investigated the actual conditions of KDC in the library field to diagnose several application problems. Finally, based on the findings, the improvements of KDC were suggested.

This study is to suggest some ideas for improvements of classification and expansion of the arts in the KDC. In order to this study, analysed changes of terminology, auxiliary tables and notes, and expansion of classification number of the arts from 1st edition to 5th edition of the KDC. The arts of KDC did not changed from 1st to 3rd edition and changed in the 4th edition and 5th edition, and errors and problems of previous edition were not improved, and Classification number and expansion of KDC found out poor rather than different classification schedule because had a lot of Including notes. The result of analysis proposed to improved method to solve the problems.

This study was conducted to improve the classification schemes of KDC in the fields of motion picture materials. Classification schemes of the KDC, DDC and LCC for motion picture materials were analyzed and compared. From the results, KDC was found to be the least suitable classification system to handle motion picture materials because it had very poorly detailed subdivisions of items and incomplete subsidiary tables to develop some subject items to represent various aspects of motion picture fields. Some suggestions to cover the deficiencies of KDC for motion picture fields were made in terms of 9 subdivisions and 53 sub-items. Particularly, new subdivisions of ‘types of genre', ’motion picture festival', 'worldwide motion pictures' and ’people related to motion pictures' were added.

The purposes of this study are to review the historical development of food and culture in the KDC (Korean Decimal Classification) and to propose improvements of the KDC to classify materials of food and culture by using the KDC effectively. First of all, changes of classification numbers and headings related to food and culture from the 1st edition to the 5th edition of the KDC were examined. Recent books about food and culture were examined and were classified according to the latest edition of the KDC. Several problems were found including a lack of headings, including notes in food and culture, a lack of headings about Korean foods in particular and reflections about various foods from other countries, a lack of detailed relative headings, and the remaining western oriented headings. Other classification systems about food and culture were analyzed and it was found that there was a need to have new headings for classifying Korean traditional foods and table services, new formats for a relative index, detailed notes, and changes in western oriented headings.

Objective Korean medicine Data Center (KDC) has established large-scale biological and clinical data based on Korean medicine to demonstrate and validate its theory. The aim of this study was to develop KDC teaching dataset and user guideline to improve utilization of the KDC. Method KDC teaching dataset were selected using stratified random sampling according to the Sasang constitution (SC). This dataset included 72 variables of 500 sample subjects. The user guideline described how to conducted eight statistical analysis methods using the teaching dataset. Results The KDC teaching dataset was sampled from 200(40%) Taeeumin, 125(25%) Soeumin, and 175(35%) Soyanain. It was consisted of questionnaire (basic, habit, disease, symptom), physical exam (body measurement, blood pressure), blood exam, and expert' SC diagnosis. The usage guidelines provided instruction for users to perform several statistical analysis step by step with KDC teaching dataset. Conclusion We hope that our results will contribute to enhancing KDC utilization and understanding.

This research analyzes the revised philosophy class in the 5th Edition of Korean Decimal Classification. It depends on the 1st Edition of KDC despite of the fact that contents and words were revised and changed, numbers for classification were moved, and indices were removed from the previous Edition of KDC. The object of the 5th Edition of KDC, metaphysics and eistemology are organized in the same sub-class(綱) through modifying, sex psychology, development psychology, physiognomy fortune judgment, applied psychology are expanded that its data are increasing in psychology, ethics, moral philosophy are modified.

본 연구는 주요 십진분류표(DDC, KDC, NDC)에서 적용하고 있는 보조표의 기능을 분석적으로 규명하는데 그 목적이 있다. 따라서 동일 시스템을 적용하고 있는 DDC, KDC, NDC의 보조표를 분석하고 여기에서 추론된 보조표의 기능을 KDC에 적용시켜보고자 시도된 연구이다. 특히 KDC 5판을 준비하는데 사전 자료적 성격으로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
