Analysis of the Oxidative Stress-Related Transcriptome from Capsicum annuum L.

  • For the massive screening of the genes related to oxidative stress, a cDNA library was constructed from hot pepper (Capsicum annuum L. cv. Nockkwang) leaves treated with methyl viologen. From this library, 1,589 cDNA clones were sequenced from their 5' ends. The sequences were clustered into 1,252 unigenes comprised of 152 contigs and 1,100 singletons. Similarity search against NCBI protein database identified 1,005 ESTs (80.3%) as Known, 197 ESTs (15.7%) as Unknown, and 50 ESTs (3.99%) as No hit. In the ESTs, oxidative stress-related genes such as ascorbate peroxidase, catalase, and osmotin precursor were highly expressed. The cDNA microarray containing 1,252 unigenes was constructed and used to analyze their expression upon methyl viologen treatment. Analyses of the hybridization revealed that various stress-related genes such as peroxidase, tyrosine aminotransferase, and omega-6 fatty acid desaturase, were induced and some metabolism related genes such as aldolase and ketol-acid reductoisomerase, were repressed by methyl viologen treatment, respectively. The information from this study will be used for further study on the functional roles of oxidative stress-related genes and signaling network of oxidative stress in hot pepper.

럭셔리 패션 브랜드의 디자인 특성에 따른 브랜드 태도와 구매의도에 관한 연구 (The Impact of Design Characteristics on Brand Attitude and Purchase Intention - Focus on Luxury Fashion Brands -)

  • Most luxury fashion brands have a strong brand identity and the product design characteristics of a brand are critical factors that influence brand identity. The design of products influence brand identity and play an important role in the choice by consumers in which brand to purchase. This study investigates the impact design characteristics of luxury brands on brand attitudes as well as purchase intentions in the examination of the differences in the impact influence by product category and consumer characteristics. The product design of brands was evaluated and measured by innovative and traditional characteristics. The product categories were divided into apparel, bags, shoes, and accessories. The consumer characteristics used in this study are fashion involvement, age, income, and the amount of money used for purchasing fashion products. Sample brands, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermes, Burberry, and Gucci, were extracted from the Intel-brand's Luxury Brand Ranking 2008 and pilot tested for appropriateness. The data collected from 120 luxury consumers and 92 samples were statistically analyzed with SPSS 15.0, reliability test, factor analysis, ANOVA, frequency test, regression, and t-test. The findings are as follow. First, luxury brands were divided into two groups by innovative design characteristics and traditional design characteristics; innovative design characteristics show a significant influence on brand attitude and purchase intention. Second, only fashion related behavior factors among consumer characteristics became moderators when design characteristics influenced brand attitude and purchase intention. Third, the differences in purchase intention affected by design characteristics were found in bags, shoes, and accessories category. It is necessary for luxury brands to focus on innovative design characteristics and to specify the different needs of consumers through fashion related behavioral factors. This research will be useful to luxury brands in designing products and planning marketing strategies by offering specific information for luxury brand consumers.

대학생을 대상으로 한 완벽주의와 우울 및 불안의 관계에서 학업도움추구와 은폐의 매개효과 (Mediating Effects of Help-Seeking and Concealment on the Relations between Perfectionism and Depression, Anxiety in University Students)

  • 본 연구는 완벽주의와 학업장면에서 도움추구 및 은폐가 부정적 정서에 어떠한 과정을 거쳐서 영향을 미치는지 변인들 간의 경로를 규명하여 경로모형을 검증하고, 이 과정에서 위험 예측과 이득 예측의 역할을 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 완벽주의를 자기지향 완벽주의와 사회부과 완벽주의로 구분하였고, 부정적 정서로는 우울과 불안을 상정하여 연구를 실시하였다. 이를 위해 300명의 대학생을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였으며 회수된 268부 중에서 불성실하게 응답한 13부를 제외하여 최종 252부를 가지고 SPSS 18.0과 Amos 8.0으로 분석하였다. 연구결과, 학업에서 도움추구는 자기지향 완벽주의와 우울 및 불안을 완전 매개하고, 은폐는 사회부과 완벽주의와 우울 및 불안을 부분 매개하는 것으로 하는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 자기지향 완벽주의는 도움추구를 통해 우울 및 불안에 부적으로 영향을 미치는 반면, 사회부과 완벽주의는 직접 또는 은폐를 거쳐 우울 및 불안에 부적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과를 중심으로 자기지향 완벽주의의 긍정적 측면을 밝힘과 동시에 적극적인 도움을 청하고, 은폐를 줄임으로써 우울 및 불안을 낮추는 개입의 필요성을 제언하였고, 제한점과 후속 연구의 필요성을 제안하였다.

트립토판 합성효소 잔기 치환체의 효소성질 결함에 대한 분석 (Analysis of Mutant Tryptophan Synthases with Defective Enzymatic Properties)

  • $\alpha$소단위체 56번 잔기가 치환된 돌연변이 (D56E/G/N) 트립토판 합성효소의 효소활성도는 매우 낮다. 이러한 돌연변이 효소에 $\alpha$$\beta$소단위체 특이 리간드를 처리하여 그 영향을 조사하였다. 양이온은 야생종과 잔기치환체에 다른 흡광도를 보여주었다. 반면, glycerophosphate는 모두 비슷한 양상의 흡광도를 보여주고 있다. glycerophosphate는 $\alpha$소단위체의 활성부위에 결합함으로 $\alpha$소단위체에 기질이 결합된 반응 단계에서는 56번 잔기가 $\alpha$$\beta$소단위체간의 이소조절에 관여하지 않고 있음을 시사한다. 따라서, 잔기 56번 치환 효소는 $\alpha$소단위체로부터 기질이 떨어진 이후에 일어나는 반응 단계에 결함이 있는 것으로 추정된다.

  • Si-Hwa tidal power station is using difference of the ebb and flow. The active power is dependent on up and down sea water level but if it is drastically changed because of a typhoon or waves the generator terminal voltage and active power is changed that is a chief cause of power station unstability. Therefore this paper arrange a present state of power or frequency fluctuation and generator terminal phase difference in case of occurrence a drastic change of sea water level.

대역폭과 이득이 향상된 이중 다이폴 준-야기 안테나 설계 (Design of Double Dipole Quasi-Yagi Antenna with enhanced bandwidth and gain)

  • 본 논문에서는 변형된 밸런과 두 개의 도파기를 이용하여 이중 다이폴 준-야기 안테나(double-dipole quasi-Yagi antenna; DDQYA)의 대역폭과 이득을 향상시키는 방법에 관하여 연구하였다. 제안된 DDQYA 안테나는 두 개의 서로 다른 길이의 스트립 다이폴 안테나, 접지 반사기, 두 개의 도파기로 구성된다. 대역폭을 늘리기 위해 변형된 밸런을 사용하였고, 중간 및 고주파수 대역에서 이득을 높이기 위해 두 개의 도파기를 추가하였다. 첫 번째 도파기의 길이와 폭에 따른 안테나의 특성 변화를 분석하여 1.60-2.90 GHz 대역에서 7 dBi이상의 이득을 얻기 위한 최종 설계 변수를 얻었다. 최종 설계된 DDQYA 안테나를 FR4 기판 상에 제작하고 특성을 실험한 결과 전압 정재파비(voltage standing wave ratio; VSWR)가 2 이하인 대역은 1.57-3.00 GHz이고, 1.60-2.90 GHz 대역에서 이득이 7.1-7.8 dBi로 7 dBi 이상을 유지하는 것을 확인하였다.

Supercapacitive Properties of Composite Electrode Consisting of Activated Carbon and Di(1-aminopyrene)quinone

  • Di(1-aminopyrene)quinone (DAQ) as a quinone-containing conducting additive is synthesized from a solution reaction of 1-aminopyrene and hydroquinone. To utilize the conductive property of DAQ and its compatibility with activated carbon, a composite electrode for a supercapacitor is also prepared by blending activated carbon and DAQ (3:1 w/w), and its supercapacitive properties are characterized based on the cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge/discharge. As a result, the composite electrode adopting DAQ exhibits superior electrochemical properties, such as a higher specific capacitance of up to $160F{\cdot}g^{-1}$ at $100mV{\cdot}s^{-1}$, an excellent high-rate capability of up to $1,000mV{\cdot}s^{-1}$, and a higher cycling stability with a capacitance retention ratio of 82% for the 1,000th cycle.

  • The cytochrome P450 (P450) 1 family (1A1, 1A2, 1B1) is involved in the activation of many pro-carcinogens. Previously we characterized a number of synthetic bi- and polycyclic hydrocarbon acetylenes as selective-mechanism-based inhibitors of recombinent P450s 1A1, 1A2, 1B1 (Shimada et al., Chem. Res. Toxicol., 11, 1048-1056, 1998). We reported that the drug oltipraz is a mechanism-based indicator of P450 1A2 (Lagouet et al. Chem. Res. Toxicol., 13, 245-252, 2000).(omitted)

  • Modern power systems are very complex and to model them completly is impractical for electromgnetic transient studies. Therefore areas outside the immediate area of interest must be represented by some form of Frequency Dependent Network Equivalent (FDNE). In this paper a method for developing FDNE is presented and demonstrated. The FDNE is generated by Linearized Least Square fitting the frequency response of a z-domain formulation. The advantage of this approach is that a direct implementation occurs which dose not incur errors due to discretization inherent with implementing a fitting function in the s-domain. The developed FDNE is accurate and efficient.

  • In this paper presents a control algorism for myoelectric hand prosthesis(MHP) with 2 degree of freedom(DOF), which consists of a mechanical hand, a surface myoelectric sensor(SMES) for measuring myoelectric signal, a control system and a charging battery. The actuation for the 2-DOF hand functions such as grasping and wrist rotation was performed by two DC-motors, and controlled by myoelectric signal measured from the residual forearm muscle. The two controllers were made of a RISC-type microprocessor, and its software was executed on a real-time kernel. The experimental results were showed that the proposed a control algorism is feasible for the MHP.
