  • In this paper, we propose a maximum entropy-based emotion recognition model using individual average difference. In order to accurately recognize an user' s emotion, the proposed model utilizes the difference between the average of the given input physiological signals and the average of each emotion state' signals rather than only the input signal. For the purpose of alleviating data sparse -ness, the proposed model substitutes two simple symbols such as +(positive number)/-(negative number) for every average difference value, and calculates the average of physiological signals based on a second rather than the longer total emotion response time. With the aim of easily constructing the model, it utilizes a simple average difference calculation technique and a maximum entropy model, one of well-known machine learning techniques.

  • Interevent Time Definition(IETD) is essential in CSOs(Combined Sewer Overflows) tank design for the treatment of non-point source pollution. However, existent rainfall analysis can not calculate total amout of non-point source pollution. For deviding continuous rainfall events, therre are several IETD calculating methods. In this research, After calculate IETD by existents methods, problem of results is identified as existents method. To supplement these problems, new method using exponential decay function is suggested. The confidence range of ${\lambda}$ is estimated.

A Study on Deterioration of Ridge Trail in Jeongmaek (우리나라 정맥의 마루금 등산로 훼손에 관한 연구 -금남, 금북, 낙남, 한남금북정맥을 대상으로 -)

  • This study has been conducted to understand the deterioration state and to establish a management plan for the trails of Jeongmaek ridge. To find the extent of the deterioration, researchers investigated twelve physical factors and they examined the states of the trails qualitatively. The results are as follows. The extent of the damages to the trails of the Hannam Geumbuk-Jeongmaek ridge was 78cm in breadth, 6.4cmin depth, 20.8% in slope, the extent of the damages to the trails of the Guembuk-Jeongmaek ridge was 73cm in breadth, 7.3cm in depth, 20.0% in slope. And the extent of the damages to the trails of the Naknam-Jeongmaek ridge was 73cm in breadth, 6.7cm in depth, 17.7% in slope, the extent of the damages to the trails of the Guemnam-Jeongmaek ridge was 79cm in breadth, 6.7cm in depth, 19.7% in slope, which could be interpreted as relatively good. However, it was confirmed that damages to the trails that run through the urban areas and tourist attractions had become worse than in the past. Therefore, in the regions where the number of comers is expected to increase, more detailed monitoring and proactive management is required.

The Relationship between the Time of Breeding Migration of the Gori Salamander (Hynobius yangi) and Climate Factors (고리도롱뇽의 번식이주 시기와 기후요소와의 관계)

  • To elucidate which climate factors and what periods affect the time of breeding migration of Gori salamanders (Hynobius yangi), we have investigated relationships between the 5-years breeding monitoring data from 2006 to 2010 which had obtained in both natural and translocated breeding sites at Bongdae mountain, Gijang-gun, Busan-si and the matched climate data obtained from the weather station, approximately 25 km apart from the sites. Mean average and mean lowest temperatures during one month before the first breeding migration were related with the time of first female migration in the translocated site. Mean temperature variation and mean precipitation during 60~120 days before the first breeding migration affected the time of 30% male appearance at the natural site and the time of 30% female appearance at both natural and translocated sites. Climate factors were more closely related with female appearance than male and at the translocated site than at the natural site. Our results show that changes in mean temperature variation and mean precipitation rather than mean average temperature might more significantly affect the breeding migration of salamanders, female breeding migration is more closely related with climate factors, and the salamanders translocated could be more affected by climate changes than those in natural populations.

Tuberoplasty for Irreparable Massive Rotator Cuff Tears (봉합할 수 없는 광범위 회전근 개 파열에 대한 결절 성형술)

  • Purpose: To evaluate the clinical and radiological results of arthroscopic tuberoplasty for irreparable massive rotator cuff tears. Materials and Methods: Eleven patients underwent arthroscopic tuberoplasty for irreparable massive rotator cuff tears between December 2004 and April 2007. The mean follow-up period was 17.3 months, and the average age at the time of surgery was 61.7-year-old. Five cases underwent arthroscopic tuberoplasty and 6 cases had arthroscopic subacromial decompression and tuberoplasty, simultaneously. Results: The average Constant score improved from 61.8 to 86.9 and the average UCLA score changed from 14.8 to 31.8 with 6 excellent, 3 good and 2 poor results (p=0.003). The active forward flexion improved from $111.8^{\circ}$ to $154.1^{\circ}$(p=0.011). The acromiohumeral interval increased from 3.94 mm preoperatively to 4.22 mm postoperatively (p=0.12). In the poor UCLA score group, the acromiohumeral interval changed from 1.67 mm preoperatively to 0.94 mm postoperatively. Conclusion: Arthroscopic tuberoplasty may be a second option to relieve the pain of irreparable massive rotator cuff tears and improve the range of motion. However, good results could not be expected if the acromiohumeral interval is < 2 mm preoperatively and decreased postoperatively.

Ultrasound Imaging for Position of the Sciatic Nerve Division in Korean Female (한국 여성에서 좌골 신경 분지 위치에 대한 초음파 영상)

  • Purpose: We aim to determine sciatic nerve bifurcation location and depth at the level of the popliteal fossa in Korean female. Materials and Methods: Thirty three subjects were enrolled in Korean female. M-turbo ultrasound system (SonoSite, bothell, WA, USA)with 38 mm high frequency linear array transducer, 13-6 MHz probe was used for ultrasound measurements. With subject lying prone, the location of the sciatic nerve in relation to the popliteal crease and skin to nerve distance were assessed via ultrasound. Analyses were performed with SAS version 9.3 using multiple linear regression. Results: Thirty three subjects were enrolled. Distance from the popliteal crease to the sciatic nerve was 4.5-7.5 (mean 5.7 cm), and the depth of the sciatic nerve from the skin was 1.8-3.2 (mean 2.4 cm). Multiple linear regression for the usefulness of the model has a p value of 0.036, shows between weight and depth. Conclusion: We show that variability exists for sciatic nerve bifurcation location in Korean female, The success rate is creased if consider the relations between weight and depth when performs sciatic nerve block in Korean female. In our study, a sciatic nerve block is recommend that performed 7.5 cm proximal to the crease in the popliteal fossa.

LCL Augmentation and Popliteal Tenodesis for Lateral and Posterolateral Instability Of The Knee (슬관절 외측 및 후외측 불안정성에 대한 외측 보강술 및 슬와근 건고정술)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to make a report on the clinical prognosis of post traumatic lateral and posterolateral instability of the knee after LCL augmentation and popliteal tenodesis. Materials and Methods: The assessment was made among 21 cases who underwent augmentation of lateral collateral ligament(LCL) and popliteal tenodesis with allograft or artificial ligament (synthetic polyester, ABC ligament, Surgicraft, U.K.) at this Medical Center during the period from July 1996 to July 2003 and whose follow-up period was longer than one year. The authors recorded and analysed the physical findings (external rotation recurvatum test & posterolateral drawer test), stress roentgenograms(preoperative and postoperative) and Lysholm score. Results: The lateral and posterolateral instability of the knee were improved in 20 cases postoperatively, acccording to the clinical test and stress roentgenograms . Average Lysholm score was 52.5 preoperatively and 86.7 postoperatively .Conclusion: Our study found the surgery of lateral and posterolateral instability of the knee with augmentation of LCL and popliteal tenodesis using allograft or artiflcial ligament is simple technique. Taking these results into consideration, it seems to be one of effective methods of treatment.

Analysis of Types and Characteristics of Clothing Lifestyle of the New Forty Generation

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of each type after categorizing the clothing lifestyle of 394 male office workers in their 30s and 50s. The data were analyzed with PASW 18.0 using frequency analysis, k-means cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA and crosstabs analysis. According to findings, first of all, types of clothing lifestyle are divided into 4 groups: a type of fashion leader(22.3%), a type of price sensitive(12.2%), a type of fashion indifference(27.9%), a type of normcore fashion(37.6%). Secondly, the types of clothing lifestyle showed statistically significant difference age, marital status, job and monthly average household income of socio-economic variables. Thirdly, the types of clothing lifestyle showed statistically significant difference monthly average appearance care cost, suit count, monthly average clothing purchase cost, average purchase cost of one suit.

The estimation of river discharge by using the mean velocity equation in a unsteady condition (평균유속공식을 이용한 부정류 하천유량 산정)

  • As the average indicator for amount of water flowing in any cross section of a river, the mean discharge has been reported to be a very important factor for examining water circle constructions in a river basin, the design and construction of a hydraulic structure, and water front area use and management. The stage-discharge curve based on discharge and stage data measured in a normal season were basically derived. Using this derivation, the necessary discharge data was obtained. The values produced in this manner corresponded to the measured data in a uniform flow state well, but showed limited accuracy in a flood season (unsteady flow). In the present paper, the mean velocity in unsteady flow conditions, which exhibited loop form properties, was estimated using the new mean velocity formula derived from Chiu's 2-D velocity. The results of RMSE and Polar graph analyses showed that the proposed equation exhibited approximately nineteen times the accuracy compared to the Manning and Chezy equations.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the air-side heat transfer characteristics of a spirally-coiled circular fin-tube heat exchanger for various geometric parameters under non-frosting conditions. The heat transfer characteristics of the heat exchanger were analyzed with respect to heat exchanger geometries, and then, the characteristics were compared with those of rectangular-plate fin-tube heat exchangers with discrete fins. The heat transfer coefficient increased with a decrease in the number of tube rows and an increase in the fin pitch. The optimum length of the L-foot was 2.7 mm. In addition, the heat transfer rate increased with a decrease in the tube pitch and the tube thickness. The heat transfer coefficient of the spirally-coiled circular fin-tube heat exchanger was 24.3% higher than that of the rectangular-plate fin-tube heat exchanger.
