Exploring Consensual Relationships between Discipline and Education shown in "Jungyong" (중용 수양과 교육 동의적 관계 탐색)

  • In Confucianism, education is also meaningful in teaching and changing, but the meaning of education in Chapter 1 of "Jungyong" is very concise and implicit. In Chapter 1 of "Jungyong", "Cheonmyeong(天命)" is called "Sung(性)", and it is called "Do(道)" to follow "Sung", and it is called "Gyo(敎)" to cultivate this "Do". In short, it is education(Gyo) that is practiced to follow the "Mandate of Heaven(Cheonmyeong)". Therefore, the meaning of education in Chapter 1 of "Jungyong" is in line with "Su(修)". Here, the meaning of education does not mean knowledge transfer or teaching scriptures such as the so-called "Cheonja" or "Analects". It means enlightening and cultivating the principles of the world. Discipline is self-change. The inner expansion of an education is to be cultivated, and the teaching of cultivation to others is to be an education. As such, at least in Chapter 1 of "Jungyong", discipline and education are synonymous. If one goes to oneself, it becomes a discipline, and if one goes to others, it becomes an education. The reason why this is important is that we can reconsider the true meaning of education. The universal definition of education today is the transfer of knowledge or skills. However, in "Jungyong", it was said that education is to help others cultivate them. It is not important to convey knowledge or skills, but to help them realize their own "Mandate of Heaven(Cheonmyeong)" so that anyone can wake up and live happily.

  • The followings are the characteristics of Kyunghakkwan of Youngjae Oh Yunsang. First, he delves into Soju (小注: Small notes or commentaries) of Saseo-Jibju-Daejeon (四書集註大全: Compendium of the Commentaries of Four Confucius Canons). Frequently adding, "thinking," "thinking again," he enumerates his own theories critical of various scholars who left commentaries in Daehak-Janggu-Daejeon (大學章句大全: Compendium of the sentences and phrases in Daehak, one of the canon) and Jungyong-Janggu-Daejeon (中庸章句大全: Compendium of the sentences and phrases in Jungyong, another canon). Secondly, he quotes theories of Korean confucius scholars. Besides Lee Yulgok, he introduces mainly theories of Nongam Kim Changhyub and Namdang Han Wonjin. Thirdly, he researches into various canons. He diverts from the general trend of Chosun confucius studies which focuses on Saseo and explores Seokyung (書經: One of Five canons of Chinese Confucius Studies and the oldest history book). Fourthly, his Kyungseol, especially that of Jungyong, was recognized and accepted by his contemporary Giho School scholars. Finally, he shows skepticism even on Confucius's own ideas and begs to differ.

  • 본 논문은 주파수 선택적인 MIMO 시스템에서 스트림간의 간섭을 효과적으로 제거하는 기법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 계산적으로 복잡도가 높은 리스트 검색 기법 대신에 채널 복호기에서 사용되는 사후 확률(a posteriori probability, APP)를 얻기 위해 반복적으로 스트림간 간섭을 제거하는 선형 이퀄라이저를 사용하였다. 반복회수가 증가할수록 이퀄라이저에 의해 채널은 점차 single input multiple output (SIMO) 형태의 채널에 가까워지고 MIMO 이퀄라이저의 최소평균제곱오차 (MMSE)에 가까워진다. HSPA UMTS standard를 따르는 $2{\times}2$ MIMO 시스템의 다운링크 통신 모의실험을 통해 제안된 기법이 기존의 수신 기법에 비해 상당한 성능이득을 얻을 수 있음을 확인할 수 있다.

  • Intelligent control technologies (fuzzy logic, neural network, chaos, and genetic algorithm) have been a great deal of influences and impact, especially in home appliances industry. As a result, products that utilize these technologies are pouring into the market from just about every companies. These products are getting good responses from the consumers, because they offer convenience and amenities through the intelligent self-control.   • 단상 ac/dc, dc/ac 시스템의 경우, ac와 dc사이의 전력 불균형으로 인해 double line frequency ripple power가 발생한다. 이는 harmonic disturbance을 야기시킨다. 일반적으로 전력 리플을 줄이기 위하여 dc-link에 용량이 큰 전해 커패시터를 사용하는데, 용량이 큰 전해 커패시터는 높은 equivalent series resistance(ESR)을 가지며, 상대적으로 짧은 수명을 갖는 한계를 갖는다. 본 논문은 active power decoupling을 추가함으로써 전해 커패시터를 용량이 작은 필름 커패시터로 대체한 회로 구조를 제시한다. 그리고 dc-link 커패시터 선정방법, 설계한 제어기의 성능과 부하 변동에 따른 실험을 PSIM 시뮬레이션으로 확인하고 실험을 통해 검증한다.

  • This study proposes a control method using a repetitive controller for a boost-type PFC rectifier with an APD circuit structure to improve the current distortion caused by DCM condition. Conventional proportional integral controllers have bandwidth limitations in DCM conditions. The performance improvement of the APD controller in the DCM region is verified through simulations and experiments on the compensation of harmonics by the repetitive controller.

Modeling of ambient noise in ocean environment using coupled mode (연성모드법을 이용한 해양 배경소음 모델링)

  • A model is developed for the calculation of sea surface generated ambient noise in the range dependent ocean environment. The sources are located in the horizontal plane all around and their depths are at the near-surface. The receiver array is located in the range dependent ocean waveguide. One-way coupled mode method is used to model the acoustic propagation between the sources and receiver in the range dependent waveguide, and the cross spectral density matrix of noise is derived. In simulation, noise intensity, beamforming result and coherence function are calculated from the cross spectral density matrix. These results are compared with those in the range independent environment. The modeling result shows the effect of the vertical directionality and asymmetry characteristics of the horizontal plane.

  • Background: Emerging infectious diseases, such as Middle East respiratory syndrome or coronavirus disease 2019, pose a continuous threat to public health, making a risk assessment necessary for infectious disease control and prevention. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the risk assessment methods for infectious diseases used by major foreign countries and organizations. Methods: We conducted an investigation and comparative analysis of risk assessment and risk determination methods for infectious diseases. The risk assessment tools included the strategic toolkit for assessing risks, influenza risk assessment tool, pandemic severity assessment framework, and rapid risk assessment methodology. Results: The most frequently reported risk elements were disease severity, antiviral treatment, attack rate, population immunity, and basic productive ratio. The risk evaluation method was evaluated quantitatively and qualitatively by the stakeholders at each institution. Additionally, the final risk level was visualized in a matrix, framework, and x and y-axis. Conclusion: Considering the risk assessment tools, the risk element was classified based on the duplicate of each indicator, and risk evaluation and level of risk assessment were analyzed.

  • In this paper, the incoherent reverberation model based on coupled normal mode method is presented. In the range dependent environment, one way coupled normal mode method is used to calculate the pressure from a source to a scatterer patch and the pressure from a scatterer patch to a receiver. For the computational efficiency, the sound propagation from a source/receiver to the scatterer patch is assumed to occur only in the 2D plane where a source/receiver and scatterer patch are located. For the model verification, problems of the reverberation modeling workshop I and II sponsored by the US office of Naval Research are calculated and the results are compared with the incoherent reverberation model results based on the ray method.

Evaluation of Azygos Vein to Aorta Ratio using Multi-Detector Computed Tomography in Dogs

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the azygos vein to aorta diameter ratio (AV/AO ratio) in healthy dogs and dogs with diseases that may cause azygos vein dilation. The normal groups included eleven healthy beagle dogs and eleven small breed dogs. The abnormal group included 43 dogs that had diseases with high right atrial pressure (RA group), obstruction of cranial or caudal vena cava (CVC group) and porto-azygos shunt group (PSS group). The diameter of AV and AO were measured at three sites on thoracic CT images; the level of the cranial endplate of 12th thoracic vertebra (TV level), the tracheal bifurcation (TB level) and the insertion to the cranial vena cava (CrVC level). The AV/AO ratio at the CrVC level had significantly higher values than those at the TV and TB levels in the normal groups. The AV/AO ratios of TV and TB levels in the CVC group and the values at all measurement sites of the PSS group were significantly higher than the normal groups. AV/AO ratio will be a useful factor for the evaluation of various clinical conditions that change the AV diameter with respect independent to the body weight in dogs.
