Objective: The aim of this study was to report the effectiveness of traditional Korean medicine treatment of a gait disturbance in a patient with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus induced by secondary Parkinsonism. Methods: The patient was treated with Korean herbal medicine (Yukmijihwang-tang-gami), acupuncture, moxibustion, and rehabilitation exercise. The gait of the patient was evaluated by the 10 m Walk Test, Timed Up and Go (TUG) test, 360° turning test, Functional Ambulatory Category (FAC), and GAITRite. Results: After 20 days of traditional Korean medicine treatment, we observed improvement in the symptoms of the gait disturbance. Conclusion: Traditional Korean medicine treatment might be effective in the treatment of gait disturbance in patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus induced by secondary Parkinsonism.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to explore the effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment and the Muscle Energy Technique on foot drop through a case study with a patient with common peroneal neuropathy. Methods : A patient with severe foot drop after an ankle sprain was hospitalized and treated with acupuncture and traditional medicine and the Muscle Energy Technique. The effect of the treatment was evaluated with the Numeric Rate Scale(NRS), dorsiflexion angle evaluation, and the Manual Muscle Test (MMT). Results : The results of the NRS, dorsiflexion angle evaluation and MMT showed greatly improvementwith results changing from 8 to 2, 0 to 15, and Grade 2 to Grade 4, respectively. Conclusions : This study suggests that Korean medicine treatment and the Muscle Energy Technique could be effective treatments for foot drop with common peroneal neuropathy. However further clinical studies are needed to establish a definite conclusion.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to report the clinical improvement of aggravated functional dyspepsia due to COVID-19 with Korean medicine treatment. Methods: To assess treatment outcomes, we used the GIS (Gastrointestinal Symptom Score), European Quality of Life-5 Dimensions (EQ-5D) scale, and Numeral Rating Scale (NRS). Results: After treatment, the patient's clinical symptoms improved, as indicated by GIS, EQ-5D, and NRS scores. Conclusions: Korean medicine treatment improved late complications in COVID-19 patients. This finding suggests the possibility of Korean medicine treatment for long-term COVID infections.

The butterfly vertebra is a rare congenital anomaly of the spine, which arises from an asymmetric fusion defect in the embryonic vertebral column. This report delineates an integrative Korean medicine treatment administered to two patients who presented with low back pain associated with asymptomatic butterfly vertebrae. The patients received comprehensive treatment comprising acupuncture, Chuna therapy, pharmacopuncture, herbal medicine, and cupping therapy. The efficacy of the treatments was assessed utilizing diverse parameters, including a numerical rating scale, range of motion of the lumbar spine, Oswestry Disability Index, EuroQoL 5-Dimension 5-Level, and patient global impression of change. After the treatment, a notable improvement was noted in the evaluated indicators. These positive outcomes suggest that integrative Korean medicine treatment is suitable for patients experiencing low back pain associated with asymptomatic butterfly vertebrae.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to report on the alleviation of symptoms of a myasthenia gravis (MG) patient after Korean medicine treatment. Methods: A 39 year-old male patient who suffered from MG was examined. The patient was treated with herbal medicine, acupuncture, and pharmacopuncture. The Myasthenia Gravis Composite (MGC) scale and Myasthenia Gravis Activities of Daily Living (MG-ADL) profile were used to assess the change of MG symptoms after Korean medicine treatment. Results: The MGC and MG-ADL scores indicated significant improvement after 14 days of treatment. In addition, the degrees of fatigue, dyspepsia, vomiting, sweating, and dizziness were decreased. Conclusion: This study may suggest that Korean medicine treatment could be effective in treating the symptoms of MG.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to review and evaluate the effectiveness of oriental medicine per oral for recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC). Methods: We searched articles from Korean journal databases including Journal of Korean Obstetrics and Gynecology, Korean studies Information Service Studies, and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, Cochrane Library, PubMed. Searched keywords were "재발성 칸디다성 외음질염", "recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis", "㚆发性外阴阴道假丝酵母菌病", "中藥". Results: 10 randomized controlled trials with 700 patients were identified and reviewed. 8 studies compared combination of oriental medicine and anti-fungal agent with anti-fungal agent, and 6 of them reported that treatment group (TG) showed statistically higher total effective rate or cure rate and lower recurrence rate. One study compared oriental medicine and anti-fungal agent and TG showed statistically higher total effective rate and lower recurrence rate after 1 month. One study compared combination of oriental medicine and lacto bacillus capsule with lacto bacillus capsule, and TG showed statistically higher total effective rate and lower positive fungul test rate after 6 months. No severe adverse response was reported. Conclusions: Our review found that oriental medicine per oral is effective for alleviating symptoms, lowering recurrence rate and positive fungal test in RVVC patients. We recommend standardized randomized controlled trial guideline should be made to obtain stronger evidence and well designed trials with larger sample sizes are needed.

Objectives : The purpose of this report is to know the effect of Korean medicine treatments on Allergic Contact Dermatitis. Methods : We treated a 63-years-old man patient with Allergic Contact Dermatitis on the left medial calf with Korean medicine. After Korean medical treatment for 26 days, we identified a reduction in size of erythema and loss of color fading, exudates and edema. We recorded pictures of changes on symptoms. Results & Conclusions : The symptoms of Allergic Contact Dermatitis were improved. Erythema, edema, exudate were lost. Thus Korean medicine treatments are effective on allergic contact dermatitis.

Objectives The purpose of this case is to report the improvement after Korean medical combined treatment about patient with Guillain-Barre syndrome. Methods We treated patient using electroacupuncture, moxibustion, herbal medication, and rehabilitation therapy for 59 days. Results The weakness of muscles of upper extremities were recovered to normal level, and the muscle power of lower extremities was improved enough to walking with walker. Conclusions We conclude that Korean medical combined treatment is an effective to improve the power of muscle having weakness. But there is a limit on this report due to sufficient number of case. Further studies will be needed.

Here we describe a case of lamivudine and entecavir resistant chronic hepatitis B, treated with western medicine plus traditional korean medicine combination therapy. We administered Injinchunggan-Tang(茵蔯淸肝湯), a traditional Korean herb remedy, with entecavir to a 45-year-old chronic hepatitis B patient who didn't have achieved HBV-DNA suppression, in spite of 18 month lamivudine mono therapy and 14 month entecavir mono therapy. HBV-DNA decreased more than one thousandth from 98,100 IU/mL to 53 IU/mL just in 23 days, and resultingly it seems that the combination therapy could be very potent, at least to some chronic hepatitis B patients.

Objectives: The purpose of this clinical case report is to describe the efficacy of Korean medicine in the treatment of vasovagal syncope. Methods: The patient was treated with acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and herbal medicine. The symptoms (headache, palpitation, sweating, flushing, weakness, coldness) of the patient were observed. Results: After the treatment, the patient's symptoms improved, but more treatments were required. Conclusion: This study can add to understanding of the effect of Korean medicine on vasovagal syncope.
