This study explored the effects of maternal ambivalence over emotional expressiveness (AEE) and mother-adolescent communication on adolescent depression (depressed affect, positive affect, somatic symptoms and activity inhibition, interpersonal difficulties). Data were taken from 233 middle school students (128 boys, 105 girls) and their mothers. Regression analyses showed varying gender differences in the relationships among these variables. Boys with high maternal AEE had lower positive affect, and higher depressive affect, somatic symptoms and activity inhibition, and interpersonal difficulties, whereas girls' moods were not influenced by maternal AEE. In addition, boys with problems in mother-dolescent communication exhibited lower positive affect, higher depressed affect and interpersonal difficulties, but open communication was not related to any depressive symptoms. The mother-adolescent communication type did not appear to be associated with depression in girls either. Both boys and girls both had less open communication and more problem communication with mothers experiencing high AEE. Problem communication with mothers partially mediated the relationship between maternal AEE and interpersonal difficulties in boys only. Examination of maternal ambivalence over emotional expressiveness provides a deeper context for our understanding of negative family communication patterns and the psychological consequences, especially in mother-adolescent boy dyads.

Purpose: Sex education should be given priority to address dating violence. Comprehensive sex education has been developed based on a nonviolent communication model between couples for the smooth resolution of problems with the opposite sex. The purpose of this study was to develop and apply Comprehensive Sex Education for unmarried couples in their 20s-30s and to examine the effects on sex communication, problem-solving communication, and relationship competence. Methods: This study developed a total of six web-based sex education sessions. A comprehensive sex education program combined with nonviolent communication between couples was developed based on the UNESCO Sex Education Guidelines. A pre- and post-equivalence control design was used to provide moderation-based sex education to compare the effects on gender communication, communication dissatisfaction, and relationship development. Results: We developed a comprehensive sex education program for couples that took three minutes per episode, on a web-based basis. Sex communication, problem-solving communication, and love relationship competence showed significant pre- and post-test differences between the experimental and control groups. Conclusion: The program of this study is an attempt to introduce Korea to comprehensive sex education, which has already been shown to be effective through numerous verification processes abroad and will provide assistance in forming future relationships between lovers.

The terrestrial communication network and the underwater acoustic communication network have very different communication characteristics each other in operational environments, communication media, propagation delay, frequency bandwidth, transmission speed, bit error rate, and so on. These different characteristics cause some different address schemes and different maximum transmission units and, as a result, these differences must form certainly obstacles to the intercommunication between a terrestrial communication network and an underwater acoustic communication network. In this paper, we presents a method to use the virtual addresses to resolve the interconnection problem caused by different address schemes between a terrestrial communication network and an underwater acoustic communication network, and, through a mathematical modeling, we analyze the performance on the message transceiving delay time in the underwater environment.

In railway communication, LTE based railway wireless communication systems have been developed to support high data rate and reliable communication link. In this paper, the testbed of LTE based railway wireless communication systems is introduced. Then, we describe measurement results of communication performance such as radiation strength, communication coverage, call setup time, handover success rate, and data transmission rate in the testbed. We also consider requirements for commercialization based on measurement results.

LED communication is a wireless communication technology to transmit information using visible light coming out from the LED(Light Emitting Diode). It is a technique that can overcome RF(Radio Frequency) communication problems that are frequency allocations, human body hazards, security vulnerabilities, and interference between electronic devices. As a technique that can be used as lighting and communications with using LED, LED communication is suitable for ubiquitous environment. This paper introduces the process of data transmission algorithm for LED communication systems algorithm using LED, PD(Photodiode), and MCU(Micro Controller Unit).

In this study, we studied methods of communication among audiences, artwork and artist and analyzed interactive media art using the nonverbal communication methods. We analyzed the 4 types of nonverbal communication based on sign and meaning[1] and reclassified suitably for analysis of interactive media art. According to the analysis result, we draw typical characters by analyzing interactive media artwork which were corresponding to the each types. Also we analyzed overlap area and classify. Through these processes, we found communication methods in interactive media artwork connect audiences and artwork by organic combination of several nonverbal communication. In this paper, we suggest a new approach about the communication among audiences, artwork and artist through analyzing interactive media art using nonverbal communication.

Currently, railway wireless communication systems adopt several communication schemes depending on the specific region. To increase data rate and achieve high fidelity in railway wireless communication systems, LTE-R scheme has been developed. In this paper, We introduce interoperability technology which converges several railway communication systems including LTE-R. First, we consider two interoperability methods and their standardization. Some empirical test results of interoperability technology are also introduced. It is expected to provide seamless and statable railway communication environments by applying interoperability technologies to railway wireless communication systems.

Objective: This study examined the association between mother-child communication and preschool children's peer competence mediated by ego resiliency Methods: The data from 318 preschool age children and their mothers in Seoul and Gyung-Gi province were used for this study. Mothers reported mother-child communication using three subscales from the revised parent-child communication inventory(Barnes & Oslom, 1982). This study used four subscales from the Korea Personality Inventory for Children (KPI-C)in order to calculate children's ego resiliency and used six subscales from the Child Behavior Scales(Ladd & Profile, 1996). The data were analyzed using Multiple Regression in SPSS 19.0. Results: Positive mother-child communication predicted a higher level of children's ego resiliency and peer competence. Ego resiliency fully mediated the association between mother-child communication and prosocial competence, rejection against peers and insecurity. And positive mother-child communication predicted lower levels of children's aggression, dissociality and irritability. Its association was also mediated by ego resiliency. Conclusion/Implications: These findings indicated that a mother's positive communication with their child would enhance children's ego resiliency and peer competence in preschool children. Thus, the efforts to facilitate parents' positive communication skills in parent education can be promising for preschool children's positive development.

This study aims to identify and categorize the content and public use patterns of social scientists' informal communication activities. Using Twitter data, we identified Korean 736 social scientists who participated in communication activities with the public, and analyzed 4,548 tweets that revealed their informal communication activities. This study is meaningful in that it explored informal communication between social scientists and the public, which was not previously revealed in scholarly communication, and identified the types of informal communication activities, communication media, and collaborative sectors in detail.
