  • Guaranteeing quality of service over a multihop wireless network is difficult because end-to-end (ETE) delay is accumulated at each hop in a multihop flow. Recently, research has been conducted on network coding (NC) schemes as an alternative mechanism to significantly increase the utilization of valuable resources in multihop wireless networks. This paper proposes a new section-based joint NC and scheduling scheme that can reduce ETE delay and enhance resource efficiency in a multihop wireless network. Next, this paper derives the average ETE delay of the proposed scheme and simulates a TDMA network where the proposed scheme is deployed. Finally, this paper compares the performance of the proposed scheme with that of the conventional sequential scheduling scheme. From the performance analysis and simulation results, the proposed scheme gives more delay-and energy-efficient slot assignments even if the NC operation is applied, resulting in a use of fewer network resources and a reduction in ETE delay.

  • The goal of this study is to replace the current forward 2-piece propeller shaft of 8 ton large truck made of steel with 1-piece composite propeller shaft. A low cost Glass/Epoxy composite propeller shafts were successfully developed, which satisfy requirements such as the capacity of static torque transfer, fatigue strength and bending natural frequency. Devising secure joining method of a composite tube and metal yoke was the most critical issue in successful development of a high torque composite propeller shaft. In this study, joining method using thermal interference fit was adopted for composite to metal joint. Optimum conditions of heating temperature and interference level of thermal interference fit were determined from thermal stress analysis using 3D finite element method. Static torsion test, fatigue test, RPM and balance test were performed to verify the design.

  • The present paper is concerned with assessing both communicational skills and grammatical knowledge in three Korean-speaking children with a range in age from 9;11 to 12;2 and in MLU from 1.68 to 2.22. It was found that all three autistic children's speech was largely repetitive and echolalic, unable to consistently interact communicatively on the ongoing joint focus of attention. It was also observed that the more repetitive the child speech was, the more impaired morpho-syntactically it was. Based on these findings, it was speculated that the deficit in joint focus of attention might relate to grammatical development.

  • A new on-line bar joining technology employing the concept of a solid-state joining has been developed for the endless rolling by POSCO, RIST and MHMM Inc.. In the process, the bars are partially descaled, partially overlapped, joined by shearing action and crops are finally removed. The feasibility of the developed process was evaluated in this study in terms of microstructures and mechanical properties of joints, and the response of the joint to rolling.

  • Lightweight design, safety, vibration, energy absorption capability can no longer achieve without adhesive bond joint. Base on those concepts and cost reduction, adhesive bond FEM model development has been done. The FEM analysis and experiments were conducted in this study. Crash condition is 143 Kg Hammer weight and unit meter Height. and then These test results were used to develop resonable FEM model. To estimate which FEM model is resonable, compare hybrid joint specimen experiment results with FEM analysis results. Conclusively this study achieves optimization bonding model related crash and adhesive bond jointed hat profile crash characters.

  • This paper describes the development of a Stewart platform-based robot force sensor with distinctive structure of ball joints. The number of ball joints is only a half of the similar style sensors, so it is possible to reduce size and weight of the sensor. The structure of ball joint is described and discussed. Furthermore, we use strain gauges, but not liner voltage differential transformers, as sensing elements, in order to reduce size and weight of the sensor. It is also proposed that beams are replaced with pipes as sensing elements of the sensor. The ball joints and sensing elements with pipes can effectively reduce the error of the sensor. A geometric analysis model is also proposed. The external force and its moment can be measured with this model. Moreover, the performance of this sensor was tested. The test results conducted to evaluate the sensing capability of the sensor is reported and discussed.

  • This is a reviewing paper on the ramjet development programs of the U.S.A. and European countries through the presented papers at the ISABE 2005 and Joint Propulsion Conference 2008. Interestingly, the programs which are developing now are only limited on the ducted rocket, neither liquid nor pure solid fuel ramjet.

  • This study presents a strut-and-tie model for the development of headed bars in an exterior beam-column joint with transverse reinforcements. The tensile force of a headed bar is considered to be developed by head bearing together with bond along a bonded length as a partial embedment length. The model requires construction of struts with biaxially compressed nodal zones for head bearing and fan-shaped stress fields against neighboring nodal zones for bond stresses along the bonded length. Due to the existence of transverse reinforcements, the fan-shaped stress fields are divided into direct and indirect fan-shaped stress fields. A required development length and head size of a headed bar can be optimally designed by adjusting a proportion between a bond contribution and bearing contribution.

  • In the connection of green frame, the bottom rebar of the precast concrete beam needs joint or anchorage to ensure structural integrity. However, given the characteristics of composite precast concrete joint, enough length over which rebar can be anchored or lap-spliced is not secured. In addition, due to issues with constructability, cost or quality, it is difficult to apply welding or mechanical connection techniques. Therefore, this study analyze the requirement for a bolt-type rebar coupler as a solution for the coupling issue between the lower rebars of green frame beam. The requirement for bolt-type rebar coupler proposed herein will provide basic data for development studies of the rebar coupler.

  • Many joint parts by welding are found in the compression vessels, ship structures, pipings, heat exchangers, etc. Before their welding, steel plate cutting in a required form is very important. But because of the present CAD system's capability, unless otherwise expensive general CAD system is equipped, the efficiency or the accuracy of the cutting work can not be achieved easily. In order to get over this sort of problems, application-specific software that is limited on for the development view of the joint parts in those sort of facilities mentioned before was developed in this study.
