Skill Set based Competency Management to Strengthen the Capability of Software Development (소프트웨어 개발 역량 강화를 위한 Skill Set 기반의 직무 관리)

  • As industrial software domain is recognizing with one of areas producing high added values, almost software company is running around in securing skilled workers. However, the hiring of software engineers without the consideration of long-term business goals can be caused the lack of manpower again. Also if there is no strategic workforce management plan, it is impossible to gain high performance despite many software engineers have been employed. One of ways to empower the software development capability, this paper identifies the software job functions in detail and proposes how to define the competency profile for the job function. We also propose the career path management scheme using the profile. The proposed workforce management approach which is based on the competency profile, enables to keep the appropriate size of human resources, and to achieve the business performance of software organization.

The Effects of Role Conflicts on the Work-related Flow of Childcare Teachers (어린이집교사의 역할갈등이 일 플로우에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study examined the relationships between work related flow (i.e., absorption, work enjoyment, and intrinsic work motivation) and role conflict causes (i.e., teacher's belief, teaching and interaction with young children, comradeship, relationships with parents, workload, supervision, and social awareness of the job). A canonical correlation analysis was performed on the data from a sample of 154 childcare teachers. The results are as follows (1) there was a reciprocal-causal relationship between teachers' role conflict causes and their work-related flow; (2) canonical function 1 showed that absorption and work enjoyment are strongly associated to a teacher's belief and supervision of conflict causes; and (3) canonical function 2 showed that intrinsic motivation has a relatively strong relationship with workload and supervision of conflict causes. It can be concluded that it is important for childcare teachers to have sufficient job resources to promote their flow at work. Further research is needed for investigation of teacher's flow at various conditions of work.

A Q-Methodological Study on the Radiologist's Image of Radiology College Students Experienced Clinical Practice (임상실습을 경험한 방사선과 학생의 방사선사 이미지에 대한 주관성 연구)

  • This study was conducted to examine the type of subjective perceptions and characteristics of the type toward the image of students enrolled in the Department of Radiology who experienced clinical training by applying Q Methodology which is aiming at the research of human subjectivity, and provide basic data for educational programs for the Department of Radiology to establish the image of a radiological technologist based on the result. This study conducted convenience sampling with 30 students of the Department of Radiology who experienced their first clinical training for 8 weeks as a P sample, forcing 33 Q samples to be distributed on the nine-point scale Q distribution chart. After that, this study processed collected data with principal factor analysis by QUANL program. Study results show that Eigen value was more than 1.0, which was divided into 2 types. Type 1 was "Patient-oriented" and type 2 was "Organization-oriented". These results can be helpful as a basic resources to understand Radiology Students who will choose a job by using different sense of value of their job.

A Study on Factors Affecting Work Ability in Korean Workers

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate Korean workers' work ability and to identify its contributing factors. Background: In order for Korea to overcome the phenomena of becoming an aged society, older adults must participate in the workforce to balance out the population; workers' work ability must also be maintained. In addition, influential factors in employees' capabilities and degrees of importance thereof should be identified in advance to maintain work ability. Method: The Work Ability Index (WAI) questionnaire was completed by 5,708 Korean workers. Survey questionnaire consisted items of current work ability, physical and mental demands of the job, numbers of diseases, work impairment due to diseases, sick leaves, work ability in 2 years and mental resources. Results: Results indicated that work ability and length of service increased with age. It was also found that employees in administrative positions had greater work ability than site workers, workers directly managed by a supervisor had greater work ability than workers in cooperative firms, and workers who performed intellectual tasks had greater work ability than workers who performed physical labor. Job stress was additionally observed to contribute towards overall work ability. And musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) were found to negatively affect work ability. Conclusion: The strongest determining factors in the work ability of Korean workers were stress level and mental state. Therefore, when the WAI is used to assess Korean workers, the weighting of WAI items pertaining to physical and mental abilities should be adjusted accordingly to account for these factors. Application: The result is expected to suggest that workers maintain work ability in an aged society.

Factors affecting the collaboration between nurses in community health department and social workers in welfare services department (지역사회 보건복지서비스의 통합적 제공을 위한 간호사와 사회복지사간 협력에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the factors affecting collaboration between community nurses and social workers in Korea. Data that is used in this study, were collected from 295 provider respondents by questionnaire, additionally from telephone survey and secondary data review. This study focuses on the working relationship between professionals in the field of health and social care. Based on the literature review, this study proposes a conceptual framework for collaboration between nurses and social workers in community health and social care. The dependent variable in this study is collaboration. It reveals whether or not the inter-professional works and shows the level of collaboration. The independent variables are categorized in: the client characteristics (frailty of client, client-provider relationship); the provider characteristics (specialization, perception of interdependence, perception of the other professional); the organization characteristics (closeness of the other professional, autonomy, on-the-job training, evaluation-reward); and the community characteristics (urbanization, capacity of resources). Major findings are as follows: First, the factors that appear to have the strongest impact on whether or not inter-professional working of respondent sampled are: the perception of other professional; the perception of interdependence; closeness of, the, other professional; and the frailty of client. Secondly, the factors that found to have the most significant effect on level of cooperation are: the perception of, the other professional; on-the-job training; evaluation-reward; and the closeness of the other professional.

Related Factors of Treatment Success of Patients with Tuberculosis Management in Public Health Centers (보건소 관리 결핵환자의 퇴록시 치료성공 요인)

  • Objectives: This retrospective study is to identify related factors of treatment success of patients with tuberculosis at community health centers. Methods: The subjects of this study were 1,417 patients with tuberculosis treated in 28 community health centers. The predictors of tuberculosis treatment success were analyzed in terms of 2 areas, which were characteristics of patients and health centers(TB control program). The characteristics of patients consist of 2 factors, such as demographic & diagnosis and treatment. The present conditions of health centers consist of 3 factors, location of centers, resources, and community activities. Data were analysed using X2- test and logistic regression methods. Results: The significant differences between success group and failure group were sex(p=0.003), age(p=0.013), job(p=0.000), type of patients(p=0.001), past history(p=0.029), BCG injection(p=0.009), sputum culture examination(p=0.017), period of treatment(p=0.000), location of center(p=0.001), population per staff(p=0.015), FTE(p=0.027), education days of staff(p=0.005), BCG injection rate(p=0.001), case detection rate (p=0.003), and health education provision rate(p=0.044). Then these variables were analysed using logistic regression analysis. Significant positive factors of treatment success were occupation(95% CI:1.3-6.1), periods of treatment(95% CI:1.5-2.2), center in large city(95% CI:1.2-16.7), center in middle city(95% CI:2.1-24.3), job education related TB(95% CI:1.02-1.3), and BCG injection rate(95% CI:1.1-303.4). Significant negative factors of treatment success were male(95% CI:0.1-0.5) and treatment after default(95% CI:0.005-0.5). Conclusions: Tuberculosis is still one of serious diseases in Korea, because it causes highest mortality rate among OECD countries. This study may provide information to improve treatment effectiveness of tuberculosis at community health centers.

Resource Management Scheme in Proxy-Based Mobile Grid (프록시기반 모바일 그리드에서 자원관리 기법)

  • Grid computing has a large scale virtual computing environment that enables a collaborative processing through sharing resources of geographically distributed organizations. In recent year, the development of wireless networks and mobile devices enables mobile devices to consider as a resource of the grids. However, there are some problems such as low performance of processors, small capacity of storages, limited capacity of battery, and low bandwidth. In this paper, to overcome these limitations occurred in mobile grid environments, we proposed a proxy-based mobile grid system. Our proposed system enables mobile devices to play roles as a resource consumer and a resource provider and to collaborate with wired grids through a mobile router. Also, we propose an adaptive job scheduling scheme to cope with context changes of mobile devices and compare our scheduling scheme with other scheduling schemes using a simulation tool, SimGrid, to verify the validity of our job scheduling scheme.

Solving the test resource allocation using variable group genetic algorithm (가변 그룹 유전자알고리즘 기반의 시험자원할당 문제 해결)

  • There are considerable concern on the methods for the efficient utilization of the test-resources as increasing of the number of the tests for functionality and performance verification of weapon systems. Furthermore, with an increase in the complexity of the resource assignment the decision support is required. Test resource allocation is basically the same problems as conventional NP-hard FJSP(Flexible Job Shop Problem), therefore empirical test resource allocation method that has been used in many decades is limited in the time performance. Although research has been conducted applying the genetic algorithm to the FJSP, it is limited in the test resource allocation domain in which more than one machine is necessary for a single operation. In this paper, a variable group genetic algorithm is proposed. The algorithm is expected to improve the test plan efficiency by automating and optimizing the existing manual based allocation. The simulation result shows that the algorithm could be applicable to the test plan.

A Study on Developing Professional Training of the Private Security Industry (민간경비 산업의 전문인력 양성 방안)

  • Technology development of modern society reduces times, costs and labor costs but demands work forces requiring expert knowledge on technology. Consequently knowledge worker becomes important. Not changing into a specialist acquired expert knowledge, people can't survive in competitive society. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to grasp the actual condition of private security industry and to examine problems. The final goal is to find the way to improve the professionalism of workers in private security industry. First. Now we must make up for the subject for examination actually and be in a triangular position and complement a professional materials for teaching. At the same time it must strengthen the education using advanced instruments seek to Total Security System. Moreover it is demanded 'institutional supplement of security guard instructors' which means job training for security guard instructor Second. On the job training which can deal with a state of emergency through 'security guard training' with a theory and an actual training must be strengthen. Also, most security guards have low understandings and interests because their ages are from 50's to 60's. Accordingly proper education must be offered to security guard. Third. Certification system of the private security guards are needed to fix the problems on an indiscreet issue and an abuse of license through deliberation on the security license. Fourth. Universities must find a new market to minimize the squandering of human resources because of oversupply and reduce the personnel. Also with enhancing the employment rate through specialized education, universities must offer an education which keeps pace with the times for not an entrance strategy but a long-term development. Effort for education of specialist will produce an improvement in business quality and improved services produce a customer satisfaction. A customer satisfaction will produce a fame of a successful company and positive images in market area. Finally the private industry will be developed by productivity improvement.

Analysis of the Compensation Level and Portfolio for Advanced S&T Manpower (고급 과학기술인력의 보상 수준과 포트폴리오에 관한 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to design the compensation model by analyzing the compensation level for advanced science and technology manpower. The result of this study can be summarized as follows. First, advanced S&T manpower has preferred not only economic rewards, but also non-economic rewards which comprises both social reputation, self-satisfaction for job and other aspects of life. Second, the way of what high grade human resources in S&T have preferred to be rewarded differs among agencies. While professors in universities prefer research environment, researchers working for GRIs(Government-funded research institutes) want to have job stabilization and researchers in companies want to have higher monetary reward. Third, two main factors to change their occupation have been turned out to be monetary reward and social reputation. It means that the compensation system should satisfy what advanced S&T manpower at GRIs and companies need upgrading their social reputation.
