A numerical study for a two dimensional multi-jet with crossflow of the spent fluid has been carried out. Three different distributions of mass-flow rate at 5 jet exits were assumed to see their effects upon the flow characteristics, especially in the jet-flow region. For each distribution, various Reynolds numbers ranging from laminar to turbulent flows were considered. Calculations drew the following items as conclusion. 1) The development of the free jets issued from downstream jets was hindered by the crossflow formed due to jets. Consequently, the free jet was developed into the channel flow without any evident symptom of impingement jet flow characteristics 2) The crossflow induced the pressure gradient along the cross section of jet exits and the value of the pressure gradient increased as going downstream. The crossflow generated also the turbulent kinetic energy as it collied with the downstream jets. 3) The skin friction coefficient along the impingement plate was affected more by the distribution of mass flow rate at jet exits rather than by the Reynolds number. The skin friction coefficient was inversely proportional to the square root of the Reynolds number, regardless of flow regime when a fully developed flow was formed in the jet flow region. 4) The distribution of the skin friction coefficient along the impingement plate was found to be controlled by adjusting the distribution of mass flow rate at jet exits.

Turbulent jet flow has been studied in many ways; a plane jet, a rectangular jet, an annular jet, a round jet, a wall jet, a parallel jet, a valve jet, a cross jet, a slit jet and etc. In this report, a 45.deg. cross jet flow was tried by using two same dimensioned nozzels(dia..phi.20)which were set up at the exit of the subsonic wind tunnel. Each jet flows to the direction of 22.5.deg. to the axis of downstream of the mixed flow. The centerline of each jet meets at the distance of 217.3mm and their mixing flow could be imagined to develop beyond that distance, so the measurement was effectuated at X/X$_{0}$=1.2-1.5. The section of the mixed flow a elliptic circle which is formed by the 22.5.deg. inclined flows to the X direction. This experimental study aimed at the investigation of the turbulent mixing process of two jets; the mean velocities, the turbulent shear stresses, the correlation coefficients, and the momentum were respectively measured. The mean velocity distribution profiles of the down-stream component measured in the Y direction coincide well with the empirical equation of Gortler and those measured in the Z direction agree with the equation of H. Schlichting. Other mean velocities V over bar and W over bar components were randomly distributed. The higher values with same order of the intensity of turbulence were largely distributed at the central part of the flow. The momentum was decreased up to 70% by the shock losses and the development of intense turbulences, but it kept its value constantly beyond X/d=14. Two-channel hot-wire anemometer systems (model 1050 series), X-type hot-wire made of tungsten (dia. .phi.e.mu.m, long 3mm, model 0252 T5), a computer(model HP 9845B0, and a plotter (model HP 9872C) were used for the experiments and the analyses.s.

The investigation regarding the ignition system of a plasma jet explored by using a constant volume vessel. The purpose of this study is to elucidate relation between the characteristics of the configuration and jet ejection of plasma jet plug, when the sub energy were supplied at plasma jet ignition system. From the results of a visualization by the schlieren system, the jut ejection for plasma jet ignition are depended on the jet plug configuration and sub energy, but the configuration of plasma jet plug is more influenced than the sub energy on the plasma jet ejection. And the plasma jet ignition strongly influences upon the combustion enhancement than the conventional spark ignition.
Astrophysical jets play important roles in many interesting astronomical phenomena, such as star formation, gamma-ray bursts, and active galactic nuclei. The jets are thought to be driven by rotating disks through magneto-centrifugal processes. However, quantitative understanding of the jet-driving mechanism has been difficult because examples showing rotation in both disk and jet are rare. One of the important quantities in the models of jet engine is the size of the jet-launching region. The bipolar jet of the NGC 1333 IRAS 4A2 protostar shows a lateral velocity gradient, which suggests that the SiO jet is rotating around its axis. The jet rotation is consistent with the rotation of the accretion disk. The disk-jet rotation kinematics suggests that the jet-launching region on the disk, or the outflow foot-ring, has a radius of about 2 AU, which supports the disk-wind models.

In this paper, a numerical study has been carried out to investigate the influence of jet fan design variables on the performance of a jet fan. In order to achieve an optimum jet fan design and to explain the interactions between the different geometric configurations in the jet fan, three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics and the DOE method have been applied. Several geometric variables, i.e., hub-tip ratio, meridional shape, rotor stagger angle, number of rotor-stator blades and stator geometry, were employed to improve the performance of the jet fan. The objective functions are defined as the exit velocity and total efficiency at the operating condition. Based on the results of computational analyses, the performance of the jet fan was significantly improved. The performance degradations when the jet fan is operated in the reverse direction are also discussed.
The motion of 3C 120 Jet relative to the core is reasonably uniform and the VLBI scale jet connects outwards to a VLA ~ 100kpc scale. We measured the jet width variation from the center and found some indication of a power law which indicates the jet expands roughly with a constant opening angle and a constant flow velocity, $V_{f}{\cong}c$, from subparsec scales to ~ 100 kpc. With such a constant flow velocity and based on other physical parameters deduced from observed emission characteristics of the jet, we have established an equipartition jet model which might accommodate the basic parameters of the jet on subparsec scales, with which one can fit the radio intensities over all the scale of the jet even to ~100 kpc.
In plasma jet ignition, combustion enhancement effects occur toward the plasma jet issuing direction. Therefore, when the igniter is attached at the center of a cylindrically shaped combustion chamber, plasma jet should issue toward the round combustion chamber wall. The plasma jet igniter that had an annular circular orifice has been developed. The purpose of this study is to elucidate the relationship between the newly developed plasma Jet igniter configuration and combustion enhancement effects. In this newly developed plasma Jet igniter, flame front wrinkle appears on the flame front and flame propagates rapidly. Plasma Jet influences on the flame propagation far long period when the plasma jet igniter has issuing angle 90 degrees and large cavity volume, because the plasma jet only lasts several ms. However, in the early stage of combustion, flame front area of issuing angle 45 degrees is larger than that of 90 degrees, because the initial flame kernel is formed by the plasma jet.

The supersonic swirl jet is being extensively used in many diverse fields of industrial processes since those lead to more improved performance, compared with the conventional supersonic no swirl jet. In the present study, an experiment is carried out to investigate the effect of annular swirl jet on the supersonic dual coaxial jet. A convergent-divergent nozzle with a design Mach number of 1.5 is used for the supersonic primary jet, and the sonic nozzles with four tangential inlets are used to make the secondary swirl jet. The primary jet pressure ratio is varied in the range from 3.0 to 7.0 and the outer annular jet pressure ratio is from 1.0 to 4.0. The interactions between the annular swirl and the inner supersonic jet are quantified by the pitot impact and static pressure measurements and visualized by using the Schlieren optical method. The results show that annular swirl jet alters the shock structure and impact pressure distributions compared with no swirl jet.

Experiments have been conducted to obtain local and average heat transfer coefficients associated with impingement of a row of circular, free surface-water jets on a constant heat flux surface. Nozzle arrays are a row of 3 jets (nozzle dia.=4.6 mm) and a row of 5 jets (nozzle dia.=3.6 mm), and the nozzle configuration is Reverse cone type revealed good performance in heat transfer. Nozzle-to-plate spacings ranging from 16 mm to 80 mm were investigated for two jet center to center spacings 25 mm and 37.5 mm in the jet velocity of 3 m/s (R $e_{D}$=27000) to 8 m/s (R $e_{D}$=70000). For a row of 3 jets and a row of 5 jets, the stagnation heat transfer of the central jet is lower than that of adjacent jets. In the wall jet region between jets, for small nozzle-to-plate spacing and large jet velocity, the local maximum in the Nusselt number was observed, however, for small jet velocity or large nozzle-to-plate spacing, the local maximum was not observed. Except for the condition of $V_{O}$=8 m/s and H/D=10, the average Nusselt number reveals the following ranking: a row of 5 jets, a row of 3 jets, single jet. For a row of 3 jet, the maximum average Nusselt number occurs at H/D=8 ~ 10, and for a row of 5 jets, it occurs at H/D=2 ~ 4. Compared with the single jet, enhancement of average heat transfer for a row of 3 jets is approximately 1.52 ~ 2.28 times, and 1.69 ~ 3.75 times for a row of 5 jets.ets.s.
In this study, the ignition characteristics of bio jet fuel (Bio-7629, Bio-5172) produced by F-T process and petroleum-based jet fuel (Jet A-1) were compared and analyzed. The ignition delay time of each fuel was measured by means of a combustion research unit (CRU) and the results were explained through an analysis of the properties and composition of the fuel. The ignition delay time of Bio-5172 was the shortest while that of Jet A-1 was the longest because Jet A-1 had the highest surface tension and Bio-5172 had the lowest viscosity in terms of fuel properties that could affect the physical ignition delay time. As a result of the analysis of the constituents' type and ratio, 22.8% aromatic compounds in Jet A-1 could generate benzyl radical, which had low reactivity during the oxidation reaction, affecting the increase of ignition delay time. Both Bio-7629 and Bio-5172 were composed of paraffin only, with the ratio of n-/iso- being 0.06 and 0.80, respectively. The lower the degree of branching is in paraffin, the faster the isomerization of peroxy radical is produced during oxidation, which could determine the propagation rate of the ignition. Therefore, Bio-5172, composed of more n-paraffin, possesses shorter ignition delay time compared with Bio-7629.
