  • Purpose - The rapid spread of SNS and increase of SNS users have heralded great changes in the tourism industry. Therefore, this study focused on how SNS characteristics- usefulness, convenience, interactivity, and intimacy - influence diffusivity, reliability and, consequently, user's preference for tourist attractions. Research design, data, and methodology - This study is designed not only to collect data with a questionnaire survey but also to test hypotheses with SEM by SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. Results - Usefulness, interactivity, and intimacy positively affect diffusivity, whereas convenience does not positively affect diffusivity. In addition, intimacy has a negative influence on reliability. However, diffusivity and reliability have positive impacts on the preference for tourist places. Conclusions - Certain characteristics of SNS facilitates the spreading of SNS tourist information. Usability and interactivity have positive impacts on the reliance of tourist information. Better communication can enhance the reliance of travel information. The influence of spreading tourist information has a positive influence on its reliance. Extension and reliance can have positive effects on the preference for tourist attractions.

  • The object of this study was to evaluate recurrence of equine coital exanthema (ECE) whether re-infection or re-activation of causative virus. ECE is a venereal disease of horses caused by equine herpesvirus type 3 (EHV-3). Like other herpesviruses, it may persist in infected horses for a long time. There is a controversy on the cause of ECE as the recurrence or the reinfection. This disease had occurred firstly on stallions and broodmares in Korea. The horses had rebreeded after healing routinely. Next year, the disease recurrented on the just same affected horses among stallions. The result of this study, re-outbreak of ECE in stallions is recurrence of ECE, but not reinfection of the virus.

  • The present study demonstrates a new approach that enables effective horse parentage testing using 22 ISAG microsatellite markers involving 6 heads of Thoroughbred horse(TB) and non-TB. In the comparison allele distribution between these horses, the alleles found in the TB were numerously detected in the non-TB. As results, we confirmed that these ISAG microsatellite markers might apply the pedigree registration of Korean native horse(Jeju horse).

  • This research is to develop kiln-drying schedules for 2.7 mm thick boards of Neolitsea sericea and Dendropanax morbifera, which grow in the southern region of Korean Peninsula. These two species are lesser-known to woodcraft industry in this country. The proper USDA drying schedules for Neolitsea sericea and Dendropanax morbifera were found to be T10-C6 and T10-E6, respectively, by using the Quick Oven-drying Method. The boards dried in a kiln with the newly-developed schedules were revealed to be free from warping and checking.

  • BACKGROUND: Yeasts associated with fleabane flowers were identified using isolation methods previously applied in yeast biotechnology. A culture-based approach was required for isolation of many yeast strains associated with fleabane. METHODS AND RESULTS: We spread homogenized fleabane flowers onto GPY medium containing chloramphenicol, streptomycin, Triton X-100, and L-sorbose. We isolated 79 yeast strains from the flowers of wild fleabane, and identified the yeasts via phylogenetic analysis of isolates from agar plates. The yeast species included 39 isolates of Aureobasidium pullulans, 17 of the genus Candida, 14 of the genus Rhodosporidium, 6 of the genus Cryptococcus, and 3 of the genus Rhodotorula. CONCLUSION: Yeast isolates associated with fleabane flowers included A. pullulans (39 isolates) and other yeast species (40 isolates). Such yeast isolates may have biotechnological potential.

  • Recently, Intense competition is expected to bring about continuous change with the rapid global aviation industry. In particular, domestic passenger demand has been steadily increasing over the past five years, with domestic and international shipments growing at a CAGR of 8.4% and 10.0%, respectively. In addition to the economic value of the airport, social interest due to greenhouse gas emissions is also rising. In this study, we analyzed the efficiency of airport operation by using DEA model(Directional Technology Distance Function) considering undesirable output for 14 airports in Korea. As a result of analysis, all airports except Gimhae, Yangyang, Cheongju and Yeosu were analyzed as efficient airports. However, only Gimpo, Gimhae, Jeju, Muan, Daegu and Gwangju were analyzed as efficient airports considering the undesirable output.

  • The morphology and infraciliature of three newly recorded Aspidisca species in Korea, two collected from the eastern coast and one collected from Jeju Island, were investigated in vivo and after protargol impregnation. The three species are as follows: A. dentata Kahl, 1928, A. hexeris Quennerstedt, 1869, and A. polystyla Stein, 1859. The three species are characterized by having a "polystyla-arrangement" of frontoventral cirri: 1) A. dentata is characterized by having a broadly rotund body shape, a distinct peristomial spur, and a dorsal thorn; 2) A. hexeris is characterized by a broadly oval body shape, four projections along the left margin of body, and the single peristomial spur; and 3) A. polystyla has the broadly rotund body shape, transverse cirri each split into several parts (especially in vivo), and lacking of the peristomial spur. Among them, A. dentata and A. polystyla are poorly known and lack morphological description based on silver staining. In the present study, we provide a brief diagnosis, remarks, and photomicrographs.

  • This study was evaluated that seasonal change of the hesperidin content was in relation to the skin color and weight of fruit in outer or inner side of the canopy, for determine the optimum time and the index of most abundant hesperidin content in lemon fruits juice. The hesperidin content was different with fruit growth and on fruit bearing site of the tree. The fruits of the either side contained the highest hesperidin value at 162 and 176 days after anthesis just after de-greening and the value was highest in the fruits of outer side of the canopy. This time also corresponded to the time just before the cessation of fruit growth. These results suggested that the optimum harvesting period for more hesperidin content was the stage just after de-greening and just before fruit growth cessation.

  • It is true that the digital electronics industry of Korea whose natural resources are very poor, is one of very important fields that can make Korea's ranking rise in global competitiveness. However we already know the actual circumstances that low Korea's birthrate, an ageing population, growing of developing countries, avoiding majoring engineering, etc. can be major obstacles to developing the technology. To overcome these problems, it is very important to turn out better manpower by presenting students an opportunity for creative basic scientific technological education by kindling students' interest. Through this study, I will apply DIKI-3000 developed by KEA(Korea Electronics Association) to the elementary school, compare and analysis the result of special ability and aptitude synthetic test, measure which factors of special ability and aptitude are improved, and search what to modify.

  • Nuclear education & training is an important issue for sustainability of nuclear energy and the safety of the nuclear power plant. The purpose of this paper is to present policy initiatives for establishment of the national nuclear education & training system. It analyzed current status of nuclear manpower and nuclear education & training systems of Korean nuclear organizations and government strategic plans for nuclear manpower education & training. The features of the current nuclear education & training in Korea are institutional diversification and decentralization in Industry-University-Research system. However, linkages and cooperation systematically integrated between institutions are very weak. In addition, duplicated education & training programs and resource allocation, and the resultant inefficiency have been raised as a problem. Therefore, this paper proposed the national nuclear education & training system model as a macro policy initiatives and construction of control tower that manage and adjust overall nuclear education & training.
