In the screening of marine mangrove derived fungi for lovastatin productivity, endophytic Aspergillus luchuensis MERV10 exhibited the highest lovastatin productivity (9.5 mg/gds) in solid state fermentation (SSF) using rice bran. Aspergillus luchuensis MERV10 was used as the parental strain in which to induce genetic variabilities after application of different mixtures as well as doses of mutagens followed by three successive rounds of genome shuffling. Four potent mutants, UN6, UN28, NE11, and NE23, with lovastatin productivity equal to 2.0-, 2.11-, 1.95-, and 2.11-fold higher than the parental strain, respectively, were applied for three rounds of genome shuffling as the initial mutants. Four hereditarily stable recombinants (F3/3, F3/7, F3/9, and F3/13) were obtained with lovastatin productivity equal to 50.8, 57.0, 49.7, and 51.0 mg/gds, respectively. Recombinant strain F3/7 yielded 57.0 mg/gds of lovastatin, which is 6-fold and 2.85-fold higher, respectively, than the initial parental strain and the highest mutants UN28 and NE23. It was therefore selected for the optimization of lovastatin production through improvement of SSF parameters. Lovastatin productivity was increased 32-fold through strain improvement methods, including mutations and three successive rounds of genome shuffling followed by optimizing SSF factors.
In this investigation, study of the bending response of functionally graded (FG) porous plates is presented using a cubic shear deformation theory. The properties of the FG-plate vary according to a power-law distribution which is modified to approximate material characteristics for considering the effect of porosities. The equilibrium equations are derived by using the principle of virtual work and solved by using Navier's procedure. Various numerical results are discussed to demonstrate the influence of the variation of the power index, the porosity parameter and the geometric ratios on the bending response of FG porous plates.
The prevalence and population density of the mycobiota of 50 samples belonging to 10 kinds of spices (anise, black pepper, red pepper, black cumin, peppermint, cardamom, clove, cumin, ginger and marjoram) which collected from different places in Jeddah Governorate were studied. The natural occurrence of mycotoxins in those samples was also investigated. Fifteen genera and thirty-one species of fungi in addition to one species variety were isolated and identified during this study. The most common genera were Aspergillus, Penicillium and Fusarium. Aflatoxins ($12{\sim}40\;{\mu}g/kg$) were detected in the extract of 5 samples of each of anise seeds and black pepper fruits; three samples of black cumin seeds and on sample only of each of peppermint and marjoram leaves out of 5 samples tested of each. Sterigmatocystin ($15{\sim}20\;{\mu}g/kg$) was detected in some samples of red pepper, cumin and marjoram. The inhibitory effects of 10 kinds of powdered spices were tested against 3 toxigenic isolates of fungi (Aspergillus flavus, A. versicolor and Penicillium citrinum). Clove proved to be antimycotic compounds. It inhibited the growth of the tested toxigenic fungi. Black pepper, peppermint, cardamom, cumin and marjoram completely inhibited aflatoxins production, while black pepper and cardamom also completely inhibited sterigmatocystin production.
In this work, the buckling and vibrational behavior of the composite beam armed with single-walled carbon nanotubes (SW-CNT) resting on Winkler-Pasternak elastic foundation are investigated. The CNT-RC beam is modeled by a novel integral first order shear deformation theory. The current theory contains three variables and uses the shear correction factors. The equivalent properties of the CNT-RC beam are computed using the mixture rule. The equations of motion are derived and resolved by Applying the Hamilton's principle and Navier solution on the current model. The accuracy of the current model is verified by comparison studies with others models found in the literature. Also, several parametric studies and their discussions are presented.
This paper aims to present an analytical model to predict the static analysis of laminated reinforced composite plates subjected to sinusoidal and uniform loads by using a simple first-order shear deformation theory (SFSDT). The most important aspect of the present theory is that unlike the conventional FSDT, the proposed model contains only four unknown variables. This is due to the fact that the inplane displacement field is selected according to an undetermined integral component in order to reduce the number of unknowns. The governing differential equations are derived by employing the static version of principle of virtual work and solved by applying Navier's solution procedure. The non-dimensional displacements and stresses of simply supported antisymmetric cross-ply and angle-ply laminated plates are presented and compared with the exact 3D solutions and those computed using other plate theories to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the present theory. It is found from these comparisons that the numerical results provided by the present model are in close agreement with those obtained by using the conventional FSDT.

The purpose of this study is to explore the role of information systems in the implementation of knowledge management, at King Abdul-Aziz University (KAU) in Jeddah, by highlighting the importance of information systems and their implementation of the knowledge processes. The researcher used the case-study method to explore the importance of information systems in supporting the implementation of knowledge management at the university. Moreover, the study has used the questionnaire as a tool for collecting information and obtaining feedbacks from the administrators at the university, and a random sample was chosen to identify the study community. The study resulted that there is a statistical indication of the importance and degree of the use of electronic systems in the university by the administrators. The study sample members believe that the university is keen to provide information systems, where systems analyze data and convert them into knowledge information that benefits the senior management at the university. Members of the study sample emphasize the importance of electronic information systems at the university, which in turn saves time and effort in extracting information, reports, statistics and providing them easily to senior management. The study also concluded with some recommendations, such as emphasizing the importance of knowledge management as one of its top priorities, spreading the knowledge culture, instilling a vision of knowledge among individuals, and emphasizing the importance of information systems.

The research domain of underwater communication has garnered much interest among researchers exploring underwater activities. The underwater environment differs from the terrestrial setting. Some of the main challenges in underwater communication are limited bandwidth, low data rate, propagation delay, and high bit error rate (BER). As such, this study assessed the underwater acoustic (UWA) aspect and explored the expression of error performance based on t-distribution noise. Filter orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing refers to a new waveform candidate that has been adopted in UWA, along with turbo and polar codes. The empirical outcomes demonstrated that the noise did not adhere to Gaussian distribution, whereas the simulation results revealed that the filter applied in orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing could significantly suppress out-of-band emission. Additionally, the performance of the turbo code was superior to that of the polar code by 2 dB at BER 10-3.
This paper deals with the static and dynamic behavior of Functionally Graded Carbon Nanotubes (FG-CNT)-reinforced porous sandwich (PMPV) polymer plate. The model of nanocomposite plate is investigated within the first order shear deformation theory (FSDT). Two types of porous sandwich plates are supposed (sandwich with face sheets reinforced / homogeneous core and sandwich with homogeneous face sheets / reinforced core). Functionally graded Carbon Nanotubes (FG-CNT) and uniformly Carbon Nanotubes (UD-CNT) distributions of face sheets or core porous plates with uniaxially aligned single-walled carbon nanotubes are considered. The governing equations are derived by using Hamilton's principle. The solution for bending and vibration of such type's porous plates are obtained. The detailed mathematical derivations are provided and the solutions are compared to some cases in the literature. The effect of the several parameters of reinforced sandwich porous plates such as aspect ratios, volume fraction, types of reinforcement, number of modes and thickness of plate on the bending and vibration analyses are studied and discussed. On the question of porosity, this study found that there is a great influence of their variation on the static and vibration of porous sandwich plate.
In this paper, we investigate many types of stability, like (uniform stability, exponential stability and h-stability) of the first order dynamic equations of the form $$\{u^{\Delta}(t)=Au(t)+f(t),\;\;t{\in}{\mathbb{T}},\;t>t_0\\u(t_0)=x{\in}D(A),$$ and $$\{u^{\Delta}(t)=Au(t)+f(t,u),\;\;t{\in}{\mathbb{T}},\;t>t_0\\u(t_0)=x{\in}D(A),$$ in terms of the stability of the homogeneous equation $$\{u^{\Delta}(t)=Au(t),\;\;t{\in}{\mathbb{T}},\;t>t_0\\u(t_0)=x{\in}D(A),$$ where f is rd-continuous in $t{\in}{\mathbb{T}}$ and with values in a Banach space X, with f(t, 0) = 0, and A is the generator of a $C_0$-semigroup $\{T(t):t{\in}{\mathbb{T}}\}{\subset}L(X)$, the space of all bounded linear operators from X into itself. Here D(A) is the domain of A and ${\mathbb{T}}{\subseteq}{\mathbb{R}}^{{\geq}0}$ is a time scale which is an additive semigroup with property that $a-b{\in}{\mathbb{T}}$ for any $a,b{\in}{\mathbb{T}}$ such that a > b. Finally, we give illustrative examples.
This article presents a unified mathematical model to investigate free and forced vibration responses of perforated thin and thick beams. Analytical models of the equivalent geometrical and material characteristics for regularly squared perforated beam are developed. Because of the shear deformation regime increasing in perforated structures, the investigation of dynamical behaviors of these structures becomes more complicated and effects of rotary inertia and shear deformation should be considered. So, both Euler-Bernoulli and Timoshenko beam theories are proposed for thin and short (thick) beams, respectively. Mathematical closed forms for the eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenvectors as well as the forced vibration time response are derived. The validity of the developed analytical procedure is verified by comparing the obtained results with both analytical and numerical analyses and good agreement is detected. Numerical studies are presented to illustrate effects of beam slenderness ratio, filling ratio, as well as the number of holes on the dynamic behavior of perforated beams. The obtained results and concluding remarks are helpful in mechanical design and industrial applications of large devices and small systems (MEMS) based on perforated structure.
