The history of occupational health in Korea s covered the era of the Republic of Korea after the Liberation from the Japanese colonialism. But the number of Korean workers exceeded about 2 millions at the times of liberation in 1945, so that it is expected that many occupational health problems inflicted Korean workers under the Japanese colonialism. The authors reviewed medical literatures, administrative documents, and other available data which were published under the colonial state, and collected things which had reference to the health status of Korean workers. The results were as follows : 1. Nutritional status of Korean workers was supposed to be inferior to that of general population, some students, and poor inhabitants in a remote mountain villages. 2. It was supposed that the constitution of Korean workers was near lower limit of average build of contemporary Koreans. 3. The accidents rate in mines was significantly high but decreasing year after year, and the most important cause of accidents was the fall of roof in the mine. The medical facilities and equipments for miners were supposed to be not sufficient in the mines and workshops. 4. Some occupational disease including silicosis, noise-induced hearing impairment, and decompression disease were known. But, overall incidence or prevalence of these diseases could not be identified. 5. On the whole, the fatalities of acute infectious diseases of Korean workers were higher than those of Japanese inhabitants in Korea and Korean inhabitants. The prevalence of pulmonary tuberculosis of Korean workers was increasing with every passing year. 6. The medical personnels and facilities were so deficient that most Korean workers were out of adequate medical use. We discussed only a part of the health status of Korean workers under the Japanese colonialism, so it would be necessary to have a better grasp of details of occupational health policy and health status in the era of afflicting.

This study reports on the perspectives of Korean Chinese Japanese students (KS CS JS) on learning English at multi-cultural classrooms in Korea. The participants were 32 KS, 10 CS, and 14 JS in EFL writing classes, and the data comprised open-ended questionnaires and interviews. In analyzing the data, 'Intentional content analysis' and 'Critical discourse analysis' were adopted. The findings show that the learning of English in Korea was supported by 80% of JS, 71.9% of KS, and 50% of CS. The highest satisfaction of JS was caused by rich interactions with others. English speaking was the most difficult area for all the groups. Whereas KS (43.8%) used only Korean, CS and JS used both English and Korean for communication. Most KS (78.1%) hesitated to socialize with foreign students despite their wishes. These findings suggest that a variety of programs should be developed so that students share different cultures and use more English in the multi-cultural Korean context.

The photos in the photo - questionnaire for the first survey included the scenes representing both three landscape styles(Korean, Japanese and Western styles)and three landscape qualities such as the layout of space, the use of landscape plants and the use of stones and rocks. For the second survey, four informational factors such as complexity, coherence, legibility and mystery were selected for inclusion in the photos of photo - questionnaire. Respondents for both survey were asked to respond their preferences on the five - point Likers scale. The results of the study suggested that four informational factors influence significantly the preferences of Korean students. The study indicated that both the citizens of Seoul and the students of Seoul National University prefer water and vegetation to rock among the contents of landscape. Purpose: This study was conducted to determine factors influencing changes in the self-esteem of multicultural adolescents over time. Methods: A longitudinal design was adopted to analyze secondary data. This study used the 2nd, 4th, and 6th year data of Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study (MAPS) collected by the Korea Youth Policy Institute. The linear mixed model was utilized to analyze self-esteem changes over time. Results: The factors of sex and age of the students, the mother's Korean writing ability, and the Filipino or Japanese mothers had a significant effect on the self-esteem change of multi-cultural adolescents over time. Specifically, it was found that female students' self-esteem was decreased by 0.04 (t=-2.39, p=.017) more than male students over time. As the subject's age and mother's Korean writing ability increased, self-esteem was decreased by 0.01 (t=-2.53, p=.011) and 0.03 (t=-2.52, p=.012) over time. In addition, compared to that of those who had mothers from Korea, self-esteem of those who had Filipino or Japanese mothers was decreased by 0.04 significantly. Conclusion: Therefore, when developing a self-esteem promotion program, it is necessary to develop content by reflecting the characteristics of mothers as well as the gender and age of students. Furthermore, the significance of this study is in that it established a foundation for a positive self-identity of multicultural adolescents whose number is increasing recently by identifying factors affecting their self-esteem.
