Biocompatible capsules have recently been highlighted as novel delivery platforms of any "materials" (e.g., drug, food, agriculture pesticide) to address current problems of living systems such as humans, animals, and plats in academia and industry for agriculture, biological, biomedical, environmental, food applications. For example, biocompatible alginate capsules were proposed as a delivery platform of biocontrol agents (e.g., bacterial antagonists) for an alternative to antibiotics, which will be a potential strategy in future agriculture. Here, we proposed a new platform based on biocompatible alginate capsules that can control the movements as an active target delivery strategy for various applications including agriculture and biological engineering. We designed and fabricated large scale biocompatible capsules using alginates and custom-made nozzles as well as gelling solutions. To develop the active target delivery platforms, we incorporated the iron oxide nanoparticles in the large scale alginate capsules. It was found that the sizes of large scale alginate capsules could be controlled via various working conditions such as concentrations of alginate solutions and iron oxide nanoparticles. As a proof of concept work, we showed that the iron oxide particles-incorporated large scale alginate capsules could be moved actively by the magnetic fields, which would be a strategy as active target delivery platforms for agriculture and biological engineering (e.g., controlled delivery of agriculture pesticides and biocontrol agents).

This road map aims to establish a stable and integrated healthcare system for the Korean Peninsula by improving health conditions and building a foundation for healthcare in North Korea through a series of effective healthcare programs. With a basic time frame extending from the present in stages towards unification, the roadmap is composed of four successive phases. The first and second phases, each expected to last five years, respectively, focus on disease treatment and nutritional treatment. These phases would thereby safeguard the health of the most vulnerable populations in North Korea, while fulfilling the basic health needs of other groups by modernizing existing medical facilities. Based on the gains of the first two phases, the third phase, for ten years, would prepare for unification of the Koreas by promoting the health of all the North Korean people and improving basic infrastructural elements such as health workforce capacity and medical institutions. The fourth phase, assuming that unification will take place, provides fundamental principles and directions for establishing an integrated healthcare system across the Korean Peninsula. We are hoping to increase the consistency of the program and overcome several existing concerns of the current program with this roadmap.

In these days, there have been numerous researches on nano and micro satellites under the slogan of "Faster, Smaller, Better, Cheaper". Since optical structure occupies large portion of satellite volume, research on deployable optical structure gains great attention to reduce total volume of the satellite. In this paper, we establish the requirement of deployable optical structure based on specification of conventional optical structure and propose two candidate mechanisms which can satisfy the degree of deployment precision. Then, in order to evaluate the degree of deployment precision, we carry out kinematic analysis on de-space among tilt, de-space and de-center which influences optical characteristic of a satellite.

Si is a dominant solar material, which is the second most abundant element in the earth giving a benefit in the aspect in cost with low toxicity. However, the inherent limit of Si has an indirect band gap of 1.1 eV resulting in the limited optical absorption. Therefore, a critical issue has been raised to increase the utilization of the incident light into the Si absorber. The enhancement of light absorption is a crucial to improve the performances and thus relieves the cost burden of Si photovoltaics. For the optical aspect, an efficient design of a front surface, where the incident light comes in, has been intensively investigated to improve the performance of photon absorption. Lambertian light trapping can be attained when the light active surface is ideally rough to increase the optical length by about 50 compared to a planar substrate. This suggests that an efficient design may reduce thickness of the Si absorber from the conventional 100~300 ${\mu}m$ to less than 3 ${\mu}m$. Theoretically, a hole-array structure satisfies an equivalent efficiency of c-Si with only one-twelfth mass and one-sixth thickness. Various approaches have been applied to improve the incident light utilization in a Si absorber using textured structures, periodic gratings, photonic crystals, and nanorod arrays. We have designed hole and pillar structured Si absorbers. Four-different Si absorbers have been simultaneously fabricated on an identical Si wafer with hole arrays or pillar arrays at a fixed depth of 2 ${\mu}m$. We have found that the significant enhanced solar cell performances both for the hole arrayed and pillar arrayed Si absorbers compared to that of a planar Si wafer resulting from the effective improvement in the quantum efficiencies.

Typically, water quality sampling takes place intermittently since sample collection and following analysis requires substantial cost and efforts. Therefore regression models (or rating curves) are often used to interpolate water quality data. LOADEST has nine regression models to estimate water quality data, and one regression model needs to be selected automatically or manually. The nine regression models in LOADEST and auto-selection by LOADEST were evaluated in the study. Suspended solids data were collected from forty-nine stations from the Water Information System of the Ministry of Environment. Suspended solid data from each station was divided into two groups for calibration and validation. Nash-Stucliffe efficiency (NSE) and coefficient of determination ($R_2$) were used to evaluate estimated suspended solid loads. The regression models numbered 1 and 3 in LOADEST provided higher NSE and $R_2$, compared to the other regression models. The regression modes numbered 2, 5, 6, 8, and 9 in LOADEST provided low NSE. In addition, the regression model selected by LOADEST did not necessarily provide better suspended solid estimations than the other regression models did.

In this paper, we introduce an energy-efficient opportunistic interference alignment (OIA) scheme that greatly improves the sum-rates in multi-cell uplink networks. Each user employs optimal transmit vector design and power control in the sense of minimizing the amount of generated interference to other-cell base stations while satisfying a required signal quality. As our main result, it is shown that owing to the reduced interference level, the proposed OIA schemes attains larger sum-rates than those of OIA with no power control for almost all signal-to-noise ratio regions. In addition, when both zero-forcing and minimum mean square error (MMSE) detectors are employed at the receiver along with the OIA scheme, it is shown that the OIA scheme with MMSE detection shows superior performance.
The fish community within the lake and 5 tributaries of Lake Chungju in spring and autumn, 2009 was surveyed. In this study, the total 128,506 individuals were collected belonging to 11 families 29 genera 34 species. The most dominant species was Squalidus japonicus coreanus that account for 91.6% of population and 49% of biomass of fish community. In the point of population, dominant species were small-sized species, which became the prey of big-sized predatory species. In the point of biomass, dominant species were predatory species which were large-sized. The most dominant species in lacustrine area was S. japonicus coreanus which accounted for 92.2% of total population and 49.1% of total biomass. The most dominant species of tributary streams was Tridentiger brevispinis which accounted for 66.4% of total population and 55.1% of total biomass. The site of C3 in lacustrine area and Dongdal-cheon in tributary streams collected the most number of species. Through ecological health evaluation of five tributary streams using 8 metric index of biological integrity (IBI) model, two streams (Dongdal-cheon, Kwang-cheon were evaluated as, "B", "good" condition, and Jangsung-cheon obtained grade C indicating "Fair" condition, Jecheon-cheon obtained grade D indicating "Poor" condition based on IBI model. Lepomis macrochirus which was designated as a domestic ecosystem-disturbing alien species with wide food niche have shown tendency to increase the number of individuals since 1991 indicating the adverse effect on not only fish community but also aquatic ecosystem food web of Lake Chungju.

Objectives: Problem behaviors pose a great obstacle to daily functioning in children with neurodevelopmental deficits and are an important target for treatment. In this study, we translated the Behavior Problems Inventory (BPI)-01 into Korean language and tested its psychometric properties. Methods: We attained the approval of the BPI author and performed standard translation-back translation. Then, professional caregivers examined appropriateness according to cultural and situational contexts in order to make necessary modifications of the Korean version of the BPI. Results: The BPI-01, Korea-Scales of Independent Behavior-Revised (K-SIB-R), and Child Behavior Checklist were completed for 98 autistic spectrum disorder or intellectual development disorder participants (mean age=28.3, standard deviation=7.3, range=10.1-51.7). The inter-rater reliability of the BPI-01 was found to be high (r=0.992-1.000). As for the results for concurrent validity for subscale items of BPI-01 and scales of SIB, correlations between SIB and BPI-01 subscales were statistically significant (r=0.357-0.672). Discussion: The Korean version of the BPI-01 showed good psychometric properties with high reliability and sufficient convergent validity. Further examination of the validity of BPI-01 should be carried out with inclusion of younger aged children and a closer look at less frequently occurring symptoms.
A chemical batch tests were conducted to evaluate if microwave heating enhances phosphorous release from waste activated sludge (WAS) at pH 2.5, 5, 7, 9 and 11. Polyphosphate-accumulating organisms have a unique physiological feature, which releases intracellular polyphosphate granules when they are exposed under high temperature environments. Microwave irradiation was found to encourage large amount of phosphorus release from WAS, depending on pH and temperature conditions. Most of phosphorus was released below $59^{\circ}C$ within 30 min. A marked increase in phosphorus release was observed under alkaline or acidic conditions. However, based on control tests for phosphorus release under different pH conditions without microwave heating, the largest amount of phosphorus released by microwave irradiation was found at pH 7, followed by 5, 9, 11. On the other hand, crystallization was conducted to obtain magnesium ammonium phosphate (MAP) from phosphate released by microwave heating at pH 7. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed that the recovered crystalline materials were MAP. MAP is an environmentally friendly fertilizer, which slowly releases ammonia and phosphorus in response to the demand of plant root. Thus, the recovered MAP as a phosphate fertilizer is fully expected to play a important role in the reduction of agricultural non-point pollution.

In this study, a restoring viscous damper is introduced for X-type damper system which is designed for the seismic response control of large spatial structures. A nonlinear numerical model for its behavior is developed using the result of dynamic loading tests. The X-type damper system is composed of restoring viscous dampers and connecting devices such as adjustable wire bracing, where the damping capacity of the system is controllable by changing the number of the dampers. The restoring viscous damper is devised to exert main damping force in tension direction, which is effective to prevent the buckling of bracing subjected to compressive axial force. To evaluate the performance of the proposed damper, dynamic cyclic loading tests are performed by using manufactured dampers at full scale. In order to construct the numerical model of the damper system, its model parameters are first identified using a nonlinear curve fitting method with the test data. The numerical simulations are then performed to validate the accuracy of the numerical model in comparison with the experimental test results. It is expected that the proposed system is effectively applicable to various building structures for seismic performance enhancement.
