Development of a Sound Quality Index for the Evaluation of an Intake Noise of a Passenger Car (급가속시 차량의 흡기소음에 대한 음질지수 개발)

  • In this paper, a sound quality index for the evaluation of the vehicle intake noise was developed through a correlation analysis of the objective measurement and the subjective evaluation. First, intake orifice noise was measured at the wide-open throttle sweep condition. And then, the acoustic transfer function between intake orifice noise and interior noise was measured. Simultaneously, subjective evaluation was carried out with a 10-scale score by 8 special engineers. The correlation analysis between the psychoacoustic parameters derived from the measurement and the subjective evaluation was performed. The most critical factor was determined and the corresponding sound quality index for intake noise was obtained from the multiple factor regression analysis method. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed index was validated.

  • A new low cost single stage high power factor electronic ballast for fluorescent lamps is presented in this paper. The proposed topology is based on integration of two-boost converter and LC type high frequency resonant converter. A ballast is obtained by simple construction, because full bridge rectifier diode is eliminated and simple control circuits is applied. Using two boost converter operating positive and negative half cycle respectively at line frequency (60Hz), operating in discontinuous conduction mode performs high power factor. The simulated and experimental results for 64W fluorescent lamps operating at 45kHz switching frequency and 110V line voltage have been obtained.

  • In this paper, a new acoustic echo cancellation approach based on the DUET algorithm and scaling factor estimation is proposed to solve the scaling ambiguity in case of blind separation based acoustic echo cancellation in a noisy environment. In hands-free full-duplex communication system. acoustic noises picked up by the microphone are mixed with echo signal. For this reason, the echo cancellation system may provide poor performance. For that purpose, a degenerate unmixing estimation technique, adjusted in the time-frequency domain, is employed to separate undesired echo signals and noises. Also, since scaling and permutation ambiguities have not been solved in the blind source separation algorithm, kurtosis for the desired signal selection and a scaling factor estimation algorithm are utilized in this rarer for the separation of an echo signal. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach yields better echo cancellation and noise reduction performances, compared with conventional methods.

  • Generally in solar air conditioning system, the diode rectifier is used to build up DC link voltage from AC source. The diode rectifier is simple and cheap but it brings out the problems of low power factor and plentiful harmonics at the AC source. Also It can degrade the utilization rate of solar energy because the reverse of power flow cannot be made. Hence, in this paper to overcome the peak power problems in summer and to endure good AC input characteristics, solar air conditioning system using the PWM converter is proposed. A high input power factor of 97[%] and an efficiency of 98[%] are also obtained. The harmonic guide lines of proposed rectifier is no interfered with inverter switching, resulting in a simple, reliable and low cost ac to dc converters in comparison with the boost type current improving circuits.

An Experimental Study on Air-Side Performance of Fin-and-Tube Heat Exchangers Having Compound Enhanced Fins Under Wet Condition (복합 전열 촉진 핀이 적용된 핀-관 열교환기의 습표면 성능에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, wet surface heat transfer and friction characteristics of compound enhanced fin-and-tube heat exchangers were experimentally investigated. Louver-finned heat exchangers were also tested for comparison purpose. The effect of fin pitch on j and f factor was negligible. Both j and f factor decreased as number of tube row increased. Compound enhanced fin samples yielded higher j and f factors than louver fin samples. For one row, j and f factors of compound enhanced fin samples were 11% and 43% higher than those of louver fin samples. For two row, those were 8% and 50%, and for three row, those were 17% and 53%. Heat transfer capacities at the same pressure drop of the compound enhanced fin samples were 2.0% for one row, 3.1% for two row and 8.4% for three row larger than those of louver fin samples, Data were compared with predictions of existing louver fin correlations.
