  • By combining the space-time diversity technique and iterative turbo codes, space-time turbo codes(STTCS) are able to provide powerful error correction capability. However, the multi-path transmission and iterative decoding structure of STTCS make the decoder very complex. In this paper, we propose a low complexity decoder, which can be used to decode STTCS as well as general iterative codes such as turbo codes. The efficient implementation of the backward recursion and the log-likelihood ratio(LLR) update in the proposed algorithm improves the computational efficiency. In addition, if we approximate the calculation of the joint LLR by using the approximate ratio(AR) algorithm, the computational complexity can be reduced even further. A complexity analysis and computer simulations over the Rayleigh fading channel show that the proposed algorithm necessitates less than 40% of the additions required by the conventional Max-Log-MAP algorithm, while providing the same overall performance.

  • In this paper, we consider secure communications in multi-hop relaying systems, where multiple decode-and-forward (DF) relays are located at each individual hop and perform cooperative beamforming to improve physical layer security. In order to determine the cooperative relay beamformer at each hop, we propose an iterative beamformer update scheme using semidefinite relaxation and bisection techniques. Numerical results are presented to verify the secrecy rate performance of the proposed scheme.

  • It is well known the fact that turbo codes has better performance as the number of iteration and the interleaver size increases in the AWGN channel environment. However, as the number of iteration and the interleaver size are increased, it is required much delay and computation for iterative decoding. Therefore, it is important to devise an efficient criterion to stop the iteration process and prevent unnecessary computations and decoding delay. In this paper, it proposes the efficient iterative decoding stop criterion using the absolute mean value of LLR difference. It is verifying that the proposal iterative decoding stop criterion can be reduced the average iterative decoding number compared to conventional schemes with a negligible degradation of the error performance.

  • Turbo code needs long decoding time because of iterative decoding. To communicate with high speed, we have to shorten decoding time and it is possible with parallel process. But memory contention can cause from parallel process, and it reduces performance of decoder. To avoid memory contention, QPP interleaver is proposed in 2006. In this paper, we propose MDF method which is fit to QPP interleaver, and has relatively short decoding time and reduced logic. And introduce the design of MAP decode module using MDF method. Designed decoder is targetted to FPGA of Xilinx, and its throughput is 80Mbps maximum.

  • We investigate mobile multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) molecular communication via diffusion (MCvD) system which is consisted of two source nodes, two destination nodes and one relay node in the mobile three-dimensional channel. First, the combinations of decode-and-forward (DF) relaying protocol and network coding (NC) scheme are implemented at relay node. The adaptive thresholds at relay node and destination nodes can be obtained by maximum a posteriori (MAP) probability detection method. Then the mathematical expressions of the average bit error probability (BEP) of this mobile MIMO MCvD system based on DF and NC scheme are derived. Furthermore, in order to minimize the average BEP, we establish the optimization problem with optimization variables which include the ratio of the number of emitted molecules at two source nodes and the initial position of relay node. We put forward an iterative scheme based on block coordinate descent algorithm which can be used to solve the optimization problem and get optimal values of the optimization variables simultaneously. Finally, the numerical results reveal that the proposed iterative method has good convergence behavior. The average BEP performance of this system can be improved by performing the joint optimizations.

  • This paper provides a design of high-throughput parallel turbo decoder that is able to decode several packets of various length simultaneously. For high-speed communications, designing of Turbo decoder as parallel structures reduces the long decoding time caused by iterative turbo decode way. Also, by employing the double buffer structure for input and output packets improves the decoder throughput by enabling continuous decoding. Because parallel turbo decoder is designed to be able to decode the packet of the longest length, there exist idle PE's(Processing Element) in the case of decoding packets of short length. The main idea of this paper is to increase the utilization of PE's in parallel Turbo decoder and to improve the decoder throughput by using the idle PE's immediately for the subsequent packets decoding. For this, the control is necessary to enable the concurrent decoding of several short packets and we propose the method of this control. Applying the proposed method, we implemented Turbo Decoder with 32 PE's that can decode packets of 6144 bits maximum. Compared to the conventional Turbo decoder, although the area was increased about 16%, the decoder throughput was improved 28 times for short packets.

  • This paper formulates resource allocation for decode-and-forward (DF) relay assisted multi-cell orthogonal frequency division multiple (OFDM) networks as an optimization problem taking into account of inter-cell interference and users fairness. To maximize the transmit rate of system we propose a joint interference coordination, subcarrier and power allocation algorithm. To reduce the complexity, this semi-distributed algorithm divides the primal optimization into three sub-optimization problems, which transforms the mixed binary nonlinear programming problem (BNLP) into standard convex optimization problems. The first layer optimization problem is used to get the optimal subcarrier distribution index. The second is to solve the problem that how to allocate power optimally in a certain subcarrier distribution order. Based on the concept of equivalent channel gain (ECG) we transform the max-min function into standard closed expression. Subsequently, with the aid of dual decomposition, water-filling theorem and iterative power allocation algorithm the optimal solution of the original problem can be got with acceptable complexity. The third sub-problem considers dynamic co-channel interference caused by adjacent cells and redistributes resources to achieve the goal of maximizing system throughput. Finally, simulation results are provided to corroborate the proposed algorithm.

  • Recently, the Green IT is noticed because of the effects of greenhouse gas emissions, a drain on natural resources and pollution. In this paper, Visible Light Communication (VLC) systems with Turbo Coded scheme using LED is proposed and simulated in an optical wireless channel. As a forward error correction scheme to reduce information losses, turbo coding was employed. To decode the codewords, The Map (Maximum a Posteriori) algorism and SOVA (Soft Output Viterbi Algorithm) is used. The above mentioned schemes are described and simulation results are analyzed. As using turbo codes scheme, BER performance of proposed VLC systems is improved about 5 [dB].

  • Quantum low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes based on the Calderbank-Shor-Steane construction have low encoding and decoding complexity. The sum-product algorithm(SPA) can be used to decode quantum LDPC codes; however, the decoding performance may be significantly decreased by the many four-cycles required by this type of quantum codes. All four-cycles can be eliminated using the entanglement-assisted formalism with maximally entangled states (ebits). The proposed entanglement-assisted quantum error-correcting code based on Euclidean geometry outperform differently structured quantum codes. However, the large number of ebits required to construct the entanglement-assisted formalism is a substantial obstacle to practical application. In this paper, we propose a novel class of entanglement-assisted quantum LDPC codes constructed using classical Euclidean geometry LDPC codes. Notably, the new codes require one copy of the ebit. Furthermore, we propose a construction scheme for a corresponding zigzag matrix and show that the algebraic structure of the codes could easily be expanded. A large class of quantum codes with various code lengths and code rates can be constructed. Our methods significantly improve the possibility of practical implementation of quantum error-correcting codes. Simulation results show that the entanglement-assisted quantum LDPC codes described in this study perform very well over a depolarizing channel with iterative decoding based on the SPA and that these codes outperform other quantum codes based on Euclidean geometries.
