운전자용 의자의 부강성 진동 절연 시스템 (Vibration Isolation System for Driver's Seats with Negative Stiffness)

  • As a vehicle speed increases, more vibration energy is transmitted from chassis to a driver. Current isolation system for the driver's seat by damping control can reduce the transmitted vibration energy near resonance area. But in higher frequency region than natural frequency multiplied by $\sqrt{2}$, the vibration energy transmitted to the driver has a tendency to be increased. Therefore, the method by natural frequency reduction of the system is preferred to increase the effectiveness of the anti-vibration. However, the natural frequency could not be freely reduced due to the nature of the isolation system structure. A new passive suspension system to reduce the natural frequency is proposed. The theoretical analysis and experimental results show better vibration attenuation compared with the current isolation system.

  • The modeling of an active vibration isolation system is accomplished by using the equivalent spring constant, mass and rotational Inertia of each component. The detailed model of the actuation module is successful for describing its frequency-domain performance but also too complicated to implement it to actual system for control so that the order of the model is reduced up to the degree that preserves its characteristic in the low frequency range. The reduced model is suitable for identifying the unknown system parameters such as damping constants of components. The overall isolation system is described by using the reduced model of the actuation module. The accurate model ing and system parameter identification that is essential for the control of the active vibration isolation system is attained successfully.

아치구조물 적용 인장저항 면진장치의 수치해석적 거동 분석 (Behavior Analysis of Base Isolation With Anti-Uplift Device for Arch Structure by Numerical Analysis)

  • If an excessive displacement occurs in the base isolation system, the structure will be damaged due to overturning of the upper structure. In this study, we analyze the behavior of base isolation by applying earthquake to base isolation with anti-uplift device. In the case of structures that generate horizontal reaction forces such as arch structures, horizontal reaction forces must be considered in the design of the base isolation and structural members. And anti-uplift device for preventing the excessive displacement of the base isolation system is needed.

  • 현재까지 스마트 면진시스템은 일본이냐 미국 같은 강진지역에서 개발되고 적용되어 왔다. 이렇게 강진지역에 있는 건축물을 지진하중으로부터 보호하기 위하여 개발된 스마트 면진시스템은 우리니라와 같은 중약진 지역에 있는 건축물에 그대로 적용되기에는 많은 한계점이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 강진지역에 건설되는 건축물을 위한 스마트 면진시스템을 중약진 지역에 건설되는 건축물에 작용하였을 때 발생하는 문제점음 검토해보았다. 이를 위하여 예제구조물로 대공간 아치구조물을 선택하였고 스마트 면전시스템은 MR 감쇠기와 저감쇠 탄성베어링을 사용하여 구성하였다. 강진지역과 중약진 지역에서 발생하는 지진하중으로는 기존에 발생한 역사지진을 바탕으로 인공지진을 생성하였다. 수치해석결과 강진지역에 건설되는 대공간구조물을 위하여 개발된 스마트 면진시스템을 그대로 중약진 지역에 적용하면 면진효과가 상당히 줄어들므로 스마트 제어장지의 용량이 중약진 지역에 맞추어 주의 깊게 설계되어야 함을 알 수 있었다.

Energy-balance assessment of shape memory alloy-based seismic isolation devices

  • This study compares the performance of two smart isolation systems that utilize superelastic shape memory alloys (SMAs) for seismic protection of bridges using energy balance concepts. The first isolation system is a SMA/rubber-based isolation system (SRB-IS) and consists of a laminated rubber bearing that decouples the superstructure from the bridge piers and a SMA device that provides additional energy dissipation and re-centering capacity. The second isolation system, named as superelastic-friction base isolator (S-FBI), combines the superelastic SMAs with a flat steel-Teflon bearing rather than a laminated rubber bearing. Seismic energy equations of a bridge structure with SMA-based isolation systems are established by absolute and relative energy balance formulations. Nonlinear time history analyses are performed in order to assess the effectiveness of the isolation systems and to compare their performance. The program RSPMatch 2005 is employed to generate spectrum compatible ground motions that are used in time history analyses of the isolated bridge. Results indicate that SRB-IS produces higher seismic input energy, recoverable energy and base shears as compared to the S-FBI system. Also, it is shown that combining superelastic SMAs with a sliding bearing rather than rubber bearing significantly reduce the amount of the required SMA material.

A PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT OF A BASE ISOLATION SYSTEM FOR AN EMERGENCY DIESEL GENERATOR IN A NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

  • This study evaluates the performance of a coil spring-viscous damper system for the vibration and seismic isolation of an Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) by measuring its operational vibration and seismic responses. The vibration performance of a coil spring-viscous damper system was evaluated by the vibration measurements for an identical EDG set with different base systems - one with an anchor bolt system and the other with a coil spring-viscous damper system. The seismic performance of the coil spring-viscous damper system was evaluated by seismic tests with a scaled model of a base-isolated EDG on a shaking table. The effects of EDG base isolation on the fragility curve and core damage frequency in a nuclear power plant were also investigated through a case study.

동선계획에 따른 격리병동의 설계검증에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Design Qualification of an Isolation Hospital According to Circulation System)

  • Recently, Influenza(AI, PI) patients have been increasing rapidly. But, there is a lack of isolation hospitals. In particular, according to increase the rate of patients with airborne infection, in order to prevent the spread of pathogens, design of layout plan and air conditioning system of isolation hospitals becomes more important to maintain patient's room as negative pressure. In this study, the spread of pathogens are analyzed as room differential pressure, moving time of medical staff and patients, and moving way in isolation hospitals by multizone simulation; CONTAM 2.4. Through the analysis, the ways to improve isolation hospital considered at the design step are reached to prevent the spread of pathogens effectively. Also, it verifies that HVAC system for isolation hospital is suitably designed as standard.

Effects of friction variability on a rolling-damper-spring isolation system

  • A large number of isolation systems are designed without considering the non-uniform friction distribution in space. In order to analyze the effects of non-uniform friction distribution on the structural response of isolation system, this paper presented a simplified rolling-damper-spring isolation system and analyzed the structural responses under earthquakes. The numerical results indicate that the calculation errors related to the peak values of structural acceleration, relative displacement and residual displacement are sequentially growing because of the ignorance of non-uniform friction distribution. However, the influence rule may be weakened by the spring and damper actions, and the unreasonable spring constant may lead to the sympathetic vibration of isolation system. In the case when the friction variability is large and the damper action is little, the non-uniform friction distribution should be taken into consideration during the calculation process of the peak values of structural acceleration and relative displacement. The non-uniform friction distribution should be taken into full consideration regardless of friction variability degree in calculating the residual displacement of isolation system.

쌍둥이 인접구조물의 진동 제어를 위한 비대칭 지진격리 연결 제어시스템의 매개변수연구 (Parametric Study of Asymmetric Base-Isolation Coupling Control System for Vibration Control of Adjacent Twin Buildings)

  • This paper focuses on a recently proposed asymmetric base-isolation coupling control system (ABiCS) for the vibration control of adjacent twin buildings. The ABiCS consists of inter-story diagonal dampers, a connecting damper between the two buildings, and a seismic isolation device at the base floor of one building. To investigate the control characteristics of ABiCS, a parametric study was performed by numerically simulating the 20-story twin buildings. In the parametric study, the control capacities of the inter-story diagonal dampers, connecting damper, and seismic isolation device were considered as varying parameters. The parametric study results indicate that the connecting damper between the two buildings reduces the responses of both buildings only at optimal or near-optimal capacity. In addition, adjusting the stiffness of the base isolation is found to be the most effective method for improving seismic performance and achieving cost-effectiveness. Accordingly, we presented a scenario-based performance improvement approach in which reducing the stiffness of the base isolation device could be an effective technique to improve the seismic performance of both buildings. However, note that checking the maximum allowable displacement of the base isolation device is essential.

완충시스템을 장착한 고충격 발생기구의 동특성 해석 및 실험 (Dynamic Analysis and Experiments of High Impulsive Force Device with Isolation System)

  • The aim of this study is to obtain the useful design guideline for high impulsive force device with an isolation system by the analytic approach of dynamics characteristics. In this study, the high impulsive force system was modeled and analyzed in view of multi-body dynamics, and verified the modeling and analysis result by the experiment of the high impulsive force device. Additionally, the dynamic analysis was performed for the isolation system with the selected coefficients of elastic spring and damper selected. Experimental result for the high impulsive force device with the isolation system was compared and analyzed. From the result, it was confirmed that the design guideline for the isolation system of the high impulsive force device was useful.
