광탄성 등색프린지의 세선처리를 위한 디지탈 영상처리 기법 (Digital Image Processing Technique for Photoelastic Isochromatic Fringe Sharpening)

  • Photoelastic isochromatic fringes related to the difference of principal stresses have some bandwidth whose light intensities are not constant and asymmetrical in experimental images. Hence, it is difficult to measure fringe order accurately at a data point by visual observation. In this study, a method of fringe sharpening, which can extract shapened lines from both full-and half-order fringes by digital image processing, is developed. To test the method, various simple photelastic fringe patterns are simulated and their images are processed to yield sharpened lines. The method is then applied to general problems such as images of a circular disk compressed by diametrically concentrated loads and a circular cylinder sybject to internal pressure. The procedure is proved to be capable of extracting sharpened lines accurately from photoelastic isochromatic fringes.

정적 및 동적 하중을 받는 두 상이한 등방성 이종재료의 이종재료상수에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Bimaterial Constant of Two Dissimillar Isotropic Bimaterial Under Static and Dynamic Load)

  • In this research, the relationships between static bimaterial constant and dynamic oscillation index are studied. It was certified that static bimaterial constant has the same form equation as the dynamic oscillation index. Bimaterial constant and oscillation index are increased with the increment of Young's modulus ratio and approached to the some value. Isochromatic fringe patterns are slanted to the left side with increment of bimaterial constants and oscillation index. Though patterns of stress components in above the crack surface are similar to each other, their magnitudes are different a little. In the ahead of crack tip, there are big differences in the isochromatic fringe patterns and their magnitudes. The influence of bimaterial with Young's modulus ratio is bigger in the propagation crack than in the stationary crack.

Separation of Isochromatics and Isoclinics from Photoelastic Fringes in a Circular Disk by Phase Measuring Technique

  • A new polariscope system involving two rotating optical elements and a digital camera for whole field fringe analysis allows automated data to be acquired quickly and efficiently. The developed phase measuring technique that uses eight images through a circular polariscope is presented for the digital measurement of isochromatics and isoclinics, respectively, from photoelastic fringes in a circular disk under diametric compression. Isochromatics can directly be obtained using wrapped isoclinic phases calculated by the arc tangent operator which is the four-quadrant operator from -$\pi$ to $\pi$. It is not required to unwrap isoclinic phases for the calculations of isochromatics. Unwrapped isoclinics are directly determined from isochromatic parameters. Distributions of digitally determined isoclinics are in close agreement to manual measurements. The errors which would appear in unwrapping process of isoclinics can be avoided in the determination of isochromatics.

  • Stress and displacement fields for a propagating crack in a functionally gradient material (FGM) which has exponentially varying elastic and physical properties along the direction of the crack propagation, are derived. The equations of motion in nonhomogeneous material are developed using displacement potentials. The solutions to the displacement fields and the stress fields for a crack propagating at constant speed along the gradient are obtained through an asymptotic analysis. The influences of nonhomogeneity on the higher order terms of the stress fields are explicitly brought out. Using these stress components, isochromatic fringes around the stationary crack are generated at crack for different nonhomogeneity and the effects of nohonhomgeneity on these fringes are discussed.

광탄성 프린지해석을 위한 영상처리기법 개발 (Development of Image Processing Technique for Photoelastic Fringe Analysis)

  • A method of digital image processing thechnique, which can multiply and sharpen isochromatic fringes in photoelasticity on both occasions, is developed. To test the method, photoelastic fringe patterns of a disk compressed by two diametrically opposite cocentrated loads are simulated and these patterns are processed to yield sharpened lines. The method is then aplied to measurement of residual stresses in glass bar. The procedure is proved to be capable of extraction sharpened lines accurately from photoelastic multiplied fringes, and yields good experimental results consistently and precisely.

  • The dynamic photoelasticity with the aid of Cranz-Shardin type high speed camera system is utilized to record the dynamically propagating behavior of the interface crack. This paper investigates the effects of the stiffness of interface defect(exist along the path of the crack propagation) on the dynamic interface crack propagation behavior by comparing the experimental isochromatic fringes to the theoretical stress fields.

  • An experimental test is presented for photoelastic stress analysis around a crack tip in tensile loaded plate. The hybrid method coupling photoelastsic fringe inputs calculated by finite element method and complex variable formulations involving conformal mappings and analytical continuity is used to calculate full-field stress around the crack tip in uniaxially loaded, finite width tensile plate. In order to accurately compare calculated fringes with experimental ones, both actual and regenerated photoelastic fringe patterns are two times multiplied and sharpened by digital image processing. Regenerated fringes by hybrid method are quite comparable to actual fringes. The experimental results indicate that Mode I stress intensity factor analyzed by the hybrid method are accurate within three percent compared with ones obtained by empirical equation and finite element analysis.

  • 광탄성법은 전체적인 응력장 해석을 위하여 가장 많이 사용되는 방법중의 하나이다. 광탄성법에서 주응력의 차이와 방향은 등색선과 등경선으로 나타난다. 재래식 방법으로는 주응력 방향은 평면 편광기의 편광자와 검광자를 동시에 회전시켜 수작업으로 측정하며, 이를 타디보간법이라 한다. 이러한 방법은 전체적인 응력장 해석시 매우 번거로우며 많은 시간이 걸린다. 재래식 광탄성법에서는 광탄성 프린지로부터 등경선을 분리시킬 수 없다. 본 연구에서는 광탄성이론을 Jones행렬로 나타내고 4단계와 8단계의 위상이동법에 대해서 기술하였다. 컴퓨터시뮬레이션을 통하여 압축하중을 받는 원형디스크의 광탄성 프린지로부터 등경선과 등색선을 분리시킬 수 있는 시험을 하였다. 디스크의 프린지는 응력-광 법칙에 의하여 생성하였다. 8단계 위상이동법으로 얻은 등경선과 등색선의 크기를 이론으로 계산한 값과 비교하였다. 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션으로부터 광탄성 프린지로부터 등경선과 등색선을 분리시킬 수 있는 가능성을 예시하였다.
