증기 터빈 노즐 베인의 두께 변화와 유량별 등엔트로피 효율 변화에 관한 수치해석 (A Numerical Investigation on the Isentropic Efficiency of Steam Turbine Nozzle Stage with Different Nozzle Vane Thickness and Mass Flow Rate)

  • 증기 질량 유량의 변화에 따른 증기 터빈 노즐 단의 등엔트로피 노즐 효율을 계산하였다. 증기상태에 관한 압축성 Navier-Stokes 방정식을 기반으로 삼차원 수치해석 모델이 개발되었다. 두 가지의 삼차원 노즐 형상으로 압력, 온도, 속도, 마하수, 그리고 Markov 에너지 손실 계수가 계산되었다. 노즐 블레이드의 두께가 15mm에서 45mm로 증가함에 따라 최대 효율의 질량 유량은 0.9kg/s에서 1.6kg/s로 증가하였으며 최대 등엔트로피 효율은 각각 96.66%, 97.32%로 계산되었다. 질량 유량에 따른 등엔트로피 노즐 효율과 Markov 에너지 손실 계수를 계산하여 Markov 에너지 손실 계수와 등엔트로피 노즐 효율이 선형적 반비례 관계가 있음을 규명하였다.

트윈 스크롤 터보과급기에서 정상유동의 터빈 효율 분석 (Turbine Efficiency Analysis of Steady Flow in a Twin Scroll Turbocharger)

  • 터보과급기는 엔진에 장착하여 연비를 개선하는 효과적인 장치로 디젤엔진과 가솔린엔진 모두에서 광범위하게 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 승용차용 가솔린엔진에 장착되는 트윈 스크롤 터빈 터보과급기에서 정상유동의 등엔트로피 터빈 효율을 분석하였다. 자체 설계 제작한 저온 테스트 벤치를 사용하여 정상상태의 압력과 온도, 질량유량을 측정하였다. 테스트 벤치는 공기 압축기, 트윈 스크롤 터빈, 온도 및 압력 측정장치 등으로 구성되었다. 실제 승용차용 엔진에서 주로 사용되는 중저속 엔진 작동 영역에 해당하는 터보과급기 회전속도 60,000 rpm에서 100,000 rpm 의 범위에서 측정을 수행하였다. 이 회전속도 범위에서 등엔트로피 터빈 효율은 0.53에서 0.57의 값을 보였다. 이때 블레이드 속도비은 0.71에서 0.84까지, 팽창비는 1.24에서 1.72의 범위에서 변화하였다. 효율은 블레이드 속도비와 팽창비가 증가하면서 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 그리고 트윈 스크롤 중 스크롤 A 또는 B 만 작동하는 경우에 대한 실험을 수행하여 결과를 스크롤 A와 B 모두 작동할 때와 비교하였다. 60,000 rpm에서는 스크롤 B를 사용한 경우, 그리고 100,000 rpm에서는 스크롤 A를 사용한 경우 높은 효율을 보였다. 따라서 본 연구에 사용한 트윈 스크롤 터빈은 효율적으로 작동하고 있음을 보였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 먼저, 단열 압축기 또는 단열압축 과정에 대한 기존의 효율들, 즉 등 엔트로피 효율과 폴리트로픽 효율 및 엑서지 효율에서의 출력에 해당하는 양의 의미를 검토하고, 이들을 엑서지 출력을 일반화 시킨 형태의 일종으로서 설명하며, 기 타의 가능한 효율을 정의하고, 나아가 같은 논리를 압축과정 중 외부와 열교환이 있는 비단열 압축과정에 대하여 확장 적용시켜 비단열 압축과정에서의 열역학 제2법칙적 출 력 및 효율들을 정의하고 그들의 특성을 살펴보려 한다.

A Study on the Multi-Objective Optimization of Impeller for High-Power Centrifugal Compressor

  • In this study, a method for the multi-objective optimization of an impeller for a centrifugal compressor using fluid-structure interaction (FSI) and response surface method (RSM) was proposed. Numerical simulation was conducted using ANSYS CFX and Mechanical with various configurations of impeller geometry. Each design parameter was divided into 3 levels. A total of 15 design points were planned using Box-Behnken design, which is one of the design of experiment (DOE) techniques. Response surfaces based on the results of the DOE were used to find the optimal shape of the impeller. Two objective functions, isentropic efficiency and equivalent stress were selected. Each objective function is an important factor of aerodynamic performance and structural safety. The entire process of optimization was conducted using the ANSYS Design Xplorer (DX). The trade-off between the two objectives was analyzed in the light of Pareto-optimal solutions. Through the optimization, the structural safety and aerodynamic performance of the centrifugal compressor were increased.

자오면 형상을 고려한 원심압축기 임펠러 최적설계 (Design Optimization of a Centrifugal Compressor Impeller Considering the Meridional Plane)

  • In this paper, shape optimization based on three-dimensional flow analysis has been performed for impeller design of centrifugal compressor. To evaluate the objective function of an isentropic efficiency, Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved with SST (Shear Stress Transport) turbulence model. The governing equations are discretized by finite volume approximations. The optimization techniques based on the radial basis neural network method are used for the optimization. Latin hypercube sampling as design of experiments is used to generate thirty design points within design space. Sequential quadratic programming is used to search the optimal point based on the radial basis neural network model. Four geometrical variables concerning impeller shape are selected as design variables. The results show that the isentropic efficiency is enhanced effectively from the shape optimization by the radial basis neural network method.

  • In this paper, the effect of modification of geometric variables on the performance of a centrifugal compressor blade has been studied numerically. The compressor contains six main blades and six splitter blades. Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations with shear stress turbulence (SST) model are discretized by finite volume approximations and solved on hexahedral grids for flow analysis. The design variables from blade lean angle at tip and middle of the blade have been modified. The isentropic blade efficiency and pressure have been predicted with the variation of the variables. Frozen rotor simulation is performed and adiabatic wall condition has been used. One of the six blades of compressor has been used for simulation to reduce the computational load. Optimum number of meshes has been selected by grid-dependency test, and this is used for all the simulations with changing geometric variables. The detailed flow analysis results have been reported as well as the effects of the variables.

  • The principle of the MHD generation is based on Faraday's law of induction that a eletromotive force(u ${\times}$ B) is generated when the working gas of velocity u flows a channel in which magnetic field of strength(B) exists. In MHD power generation system, enthalpy of the working gas is converted to electric power directly through expansion in generator channel. It means that electric power can be generated without moving mechanical linkage such as turbine blades. There are two types in the MHD generator; linear type Faraday and disk type hall generator. Disk type hall generator is the main target of this paper. Isentropic efficiency and enthalpy extraction rate of disk type shock tube driven hall generator is discussed here.

  • In this study, the performance prediction programs for centrifugal pumps are developed. To estimate the losses in the centrifugal pump impellers, two-zone model and TEIS(two elements in series) model are applied to the program. The basic concept of two zone model considers the primary zone that is an isentropic core flow and the secondary zone that is non-isentropic region at the impeller exit. The flows through two different zones mixed out at the impeller exit and the mixing process occurs with an increase in entropy, a decrease in total pressure. The level of the core flow diffusion in a impeller was calculated using TEIS(two elements in series) model. The effects of various parameters which are used in this program on the prediction of head and efficiency are discussed. The correlation curves to select the effectiveness of the primitive TEIS model were suggested according to the specific speed of the centrifugal pumps.

  • In order to evaluate the performance of carbon dioxide cycle, a simulation model was developed to predict the steady state performance of $CO_2$ transcritical cycle. The expansion process is treated as an isenthalpic throttling process or isentropic expansion process. The mathematical model is based entirely on the basic energy conservation law and thermodynamic and transport properties of $CO_2$. A Parametric study has been conducted in order to investigate the effect of isentropic efficiency of expansion turbine and various operating conditions on the cycle performance. An optimal heat rejection pressure existed for the given evaporating temperature and outlet temperature of gas cooler.
