차량용 시가 잭의 장착 실태조사 및 트레킹 특성 분석 (Examination on the Mounting Status of Cigar Lighter Receptacle for Vehicles and Analysis of its Tracking Characteristics)

  • This study examined the mounting status of cigar lighter receptacles for vehicles and analyzed the tracking phenomenon that occurs when foreign material entered a cigar lighter receptacle to obtain data for the analysis of accident investigation. Regardless of the vehicle's output, cigar lighter receptacles are mounted in a vehicle horizontally, vertically, or at tilting or inclined angle. The tilting type cigar lighter receptacle is much easier to use but current leakage resulting from foreign materials (coffee, beverages, water, etc.) falling into the cigar lighter receptacle may cause a fire to start. This study used a vehicle battery (DC 12V) as a power supply for the tracking test and configured its circuit in the same way as that of an electrical device in a vehicle. The tracking phenomenon that occurred in the standby mode of the vehicle exhibited a fine flame and an irregular occurrence of smoke. While this tracking phenomenon was occurring, the leakage current and the reaching distance of the flame were measured to be approximately 930mA and $20{\sim}50cm$, respectively. It is thought that the resultant flame may ignite toluene, dust, cigarettes, etc. It was observed that as the tracking progressed, the internal metal socket melted and a hole was created, the surface of which was also severely carbonized. In addition, the electrical resistance of the carbonized conductive path was measured to be approximately $30{\Omega}$. It is thought that this much resistance may cause local heating when leakage current flows and could ignite any nearby flammable material.

  • On the instrumented root canal wall, amorphous, irregular smear layer can be observed with Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of the presence or absence of smear layer on the adhesion of Staphylococcus aureus to the dentin of the root canal. Human incisors, extracted within 7 days, with no caries, no fracture, no calcification of canal, were selected. After cutting crown portion at cemento-enamel junction, root canal preparation was done by modified crown-down technique using Profile and Gates - Glidden Drill. During canal preparation, 10ml physiologic saline solution(group1&3) or 10ml 3.5% NaOCl(group2&4) was used as irrigation solution. And 10ml physiologic saline solution(group1&3) or 10ml 0.5M EDTA(group2&4) was applicated for final flush. After vertical sectioning and ethylene oxide gas sterilization, samples(group1&2) were immersed into BHIYHM broth inoculated with Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 31153) and incubated for 3hrs at $37^{\circ}C$. All samples were prepared for and observed with SEM(JEOL JSM840S). The data were analyzed by Mann-Whitney rank sum test. The conclusions are as follows ; 1. Smear layer covers entire root canal surface after root canal preparation. 2. Smear layer has been removed away and the entrances of dentinal tubules have opened widely, when applying 0.5M EDTA and 3.5% NaOCl. 3. A significantly higher number of bacteria were adhered to the root canal dentin without smear layer(p<0.0001). 4. Smear layer produced during root canal preparation impedes bacterial adhesion and colonization to dentin matrix, therefore inhibits canal reinfection.

  • 2.8살 된 암컷 비글종 개 (체중 11kg)가 운동 불내성과 간헐적인 실신증상을 보여 내원하였다. 청진상 불규칙하게 불규칙한 심장박동과 지속적인 맥박결손이 청진되었다. 심전도상에 3도 방실차단 소견이 관찰되었다. 환자는 임상증상 개선을 위하여 경정맥을 통한 영구적인 박동조절기(pacemaker)를 장착하였다. 그 결과 환자는 더 이상 실신증상을 보이지 않았고 주인과 함께 산책을 나갈 수 있을 만큼 임상증상이 개선되었다. 현재까지 박동조절기 장착과 관련된 합병증 없이 잘 생존하고 있다.

국내 고슴도치에서 발생한 기저세포암종 (Basal Cell Carcinoma in a Domestic Hedgehog)

  • 1세령 암컷 고슴도치의 앞다리 피하에서 종괴가 발견되어 내원하였다. 육안적으로 앞다리 피하종괴는 직경 약 4 cm 크기로 융기되어 있었다. 종괴의 단면상에서 중심 부위는 암적색이었으며, 그 주위에 유백색 결절이 무수히 매몰되어 있었다. 병리조직학적으로 진피층에는 다량의 종양세포들이 불규칙한 줄 또는 시트형태를 이루고 있었다. 대부분의 종양세포들은 기저막에 울타리 모양으로 배열되어 있었으며, 종양세포무리의 중심부에서는 건락괴사를 관찰할 수 있었다. 또한 종양세포들은 주변조직으로의 침습성을 보이고 있었다. 면역조직화학염색을 실시한 결과, 종양세포들은 vimentin에는 음성반응을 보인 반면, pancytokeratin에는 강한 양성반응을 보였다. 이상의 육안적인 특징, 병리조직학적 소견 및 면역조직화학적 검사를 바탕으로 본 증례는 기저세포암종으로 진단하였다.

양극산화 TiO2 피막의 화학 결합상태와 미세구조 (Chemical States and Microstructures of Anodic TiO2 Layers)

  • Anodic $TiO_2$film on Ti substrate was fabricated at 180V in sulfuric acid solutions containing phosphoric acid and hydrogen peroxide. Effects of the anodizing conditions on the morphology of the oxide layers, and chemical states of the component elements of the layers were studied primarily using SEM, XRD, AFM, and XPS. The pores in the oxide layer was not uniform in size, shape, and growth direction particularly near the interface between the substrate and the oxide layer, compared with those of the surface layer. The formation of irregular type of pores seemed to be attributed to spark discharge phenomena which heavily occurred during increasing the anodic voltage. The pore diameter and the cell size increased, and the number of cells per unit area decreased with the increasing time. From the XPS results, it was shown that component elements of the electrolytes, P and S, existed in the chemical states of $PO_4^{-3}$ , $P_2$$O_{5}$, $SO_4^{-2}$ , $SO_3^{-2}$ , P, S, etc., which were penetrated from the electrolytes into the oxide layer during anodization.

적응필터를 이용한 적층 복합재료에서의 역산란 X-Ray 신호처리 및 복원 (Reconstruction and Deconvolution of X-Ray Backscatter Data Using Adaptive Filter)

  • 충격에 의해 복합 재료 내에 발생하는 층간 박리를 정량적으로 평가하기 위한 비파괴 방법중에서 Compton X-ray 역산란 기술은 초음파에 비해 비접촉식이며 박리 층간의 상호간섭이 없어 복합재료 판면의 박리 층의 위치와 크기를 검사하는데 효과적인 방법으로 사용되어 왔다. 그러나 X-ray역산란 기술에 있어서 복합재료의 박리 층과 같은 미세한 결함의 측정을 위해 측정 정도를 높이면 역산란 양의 감소로 인해 신호 대 잡음 비(SNR)가 급격히 감소하여 결함검출 가능성이 크게 저하된다. 본 논문에서는 복합재료의 특성을 고려한 X-ray 역산란 모델을 기초로 적응필터를 사용하여 결함신호를 비선형 감쇄, 빔 경화(X-ray hardening), 비균질 특성과 같은 잡음 신호로부터 분리, 추출하는 방법을 제시하였다. 이렇게 분리된 결함신호로부터 정량적인 결함(박리)의 위치와 크기를 수학적 산란 모델과의 비교를 통해 최소 자승법을 이용하여 결정하였다.

Effects of Rice Bran and Wheat Bran on Intestinal Physiology and Small-bowel Morphology in Rats

  • The present study was aimed at investigating the nutritional and physiological significance of rice bran as a source of dietary fiber as compared to pectin and wheat bran. The parameters for comparison included hypertrophy and morphology of intestines, stool weights and villus marker enzyme activity. For 6 weeks, 10 Sprague Dawley male rats were given one of six experimental diets: 1% cellulose control (CC), 5% pectin (P5), 5% rice bran(RB5), 10% rice bran(RB10), 5% wheat bran (WB5) or 10% wheat bran (WB10) based on the level of dietary fiber. Among experimental groups, food efficiency ratio and body weight gain was comparable. RB10 increased cecal and colonic tissue weights and content weights of cecum and colon as much as P5 did. Stool weight was positiviely correlated with colonic tissue weight (r=0.727, P<0.001), with colonic content weight(r=0.647, P<0.001). Small intestine length increased most in the P5 group, followed by the RB10 group. The scanning electron micrograph of jejunal villi from rice bran groups showed a leaf-shaped, smooth and regular pattern, whereas that of CC group produced a rather long shape. The wheat bran groups showed an irregular leafshaped pattern, and the pectin group typically produced leaf-shaped villi with surface damage. The activities of villus marker enzymes (maltase and sucrase) were higher in the bran-fed rats than in the control or pectin-fed rats. The results indicate than not only dietary fiber amounts but also fiber sources are closely related to the physiology and morphology of the large and small intestines in rats. Rice bran exerted effects on fecal output and trophic effects on the intestines similar to those of pectin.

액화 석유가스를 이용한 냉각 화장품 개발 (Development of the cooling effect skincare product using LPG as propellant)

  • 에어졸 제품에 주로 사용되어왔던 프레온 가스는 오존층 파괴 등의 나쁜 영향으로 인해 액화석유가스(LPG)로 대체되었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 프레온 가스가 아닌 액화석유가스를 이용하여 피부에 냉감 효과를 줄 수 있는 화장품을 개발하였다. 냉감 효과는 분사할 때 형성되는 얼음의 지속력에 의해 결정되었으며 얼음의 성상 관찰을 통해 최적의 원액 처방과 액화석유가스의 혼합비율을 선정하였다. 원액의 처방에서는 향을 가용화시킨 스킨타입으로 제조했으며 투명 내압용기를 이용하여 원액과 액화석유가스의 유화안정성을 평가하였다. 액화석유가스의 성분비(프로판:이소부탄:노말부탄)는 원액을 분사할 때 생성되는 얼음의 성상에 가장 큰 영향을 미쳤으며 프로판 가스의 함량이 높을 경우 분사압력이 높아 생성되는 얼음이 분사압력에 의해 부서지는 현상이 생겨 일정한 부피의 얼음을 얻기가 어렵게 된다. 실험결과 프로판 가스의 함량이 $3\%$미만이고 이소 부탄 가스의 함량이 $20\%$이상이며 노말 부탄 가스의 함량 $60\%$이상일 경우 최적의 얼음이 생성되었다. 또한 원액과 액화석유가스의 혼합 비율도 얼음 생성에 큰 영향을 미쳤으며 액화 석유가스의 양을 원액의 양을 기준으로 최소한 $50\%$ 이상 사용할 경우 얼음이 생성되었다.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the reaction mechanism of soil and bacteria solution by various mixing ratios. For this purpose, in order to understand the reaction mechanisms of microorganisms and weathered granite soil, the tests were carried out under various mixing ratios additives such as soil, bacteria solution, $Ca(OH)_2$ and fixture. The test results from this study are summarized as follows. Firstly, the reaction between the bacteria solution and fixture produced a precipitate called vaterite, a type of silicate and calcium carbonate. Secondly, as a result of SEM analysis, the resulting precipitates generated from the test results using the specimens with various mixing ratios except SW condition and the irregular spherical microscopic shapes were formed in the size of $150{\mu}m$ to $20{\mu}m$. In addition, it can be seen that the bacteria solution and the fixture reacted between the granules to form an adsorbent material layer on the surface, and the microorganisms had a biological solidifying effect when the pores are combined into hard particles. Finally, The XRD analysis of the sediment resulting from the reaction between the microorganism and the deposit control agent confirmed the presence of a type of calcium carbonate ($CaCO_3$) vaterite, which affects soil strength formation, as well as silicate($SiO_2$).

Impact of predicted climate change on groundwater resources of small islands : Case study of a small Pacific Island

  • Small islands rely heavily on groundwater resources in addition to rainwater as the source of freshwater since surface water bodies are often absent. The groundwater resources are vulnerable to sea level rise, coastal flooding, saltwater intrusion, irregular pattern of precipitation resulting in long droughts and flash floods. Increase in population increases the demand for the limited groundwater resources, thus aggravating the problem. In this study, the effects of climate change on Tongatapu Island, Kingdom of Tonga, a small island in Pacific Ocean, are investigated using a sharp interface transient groundwater flow model. Twenty nine downscaled General Circulation Model(GCM) predictions are input to a water balance model to estimate the groundwater recharge. The temporal variation in recharge is predicted over the period of 2010 to 2099. A set of GCM models are selected to represent the ensemble of 29 models based on cumulative recharge at the end of the century. This set of GCM model predictions are then used to simulate a total of six climate scenarios, three each (2010-2039, 2040-2069, and 2070-2099) under RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5. The impacts of predicted climate change on groundwater resources is evaluated in terms of freshwater volume changes and saltwater ratios in pumping wells compared to present conditions. Though the cumulative recharge at the end of the century indicates a wetter climate compared to the present conditions the large variability in rainfall pattern results in frequent periods of groundwater drought leading to saltwater intrusion in pumping wells. Thus for sustaining the limited groundwater resources in small islands, implementation of timely assessment and management practices are of utmost importance.
