  • The demand on the underwater communications is extremely increasing in searching for underwater resources, marine expedition, or environmental researches, yet there are many problems with the wireless communications because of the characteristics of the underwater environments. Especially, with the underwater wireless networks, there happen inevitable delay time and spacial inequality due to the distances between the nodes. To solve these problems, this paper suggests a new solution based on ALOHA-Q. The suggested method use random NAV value. and Environments take reward through communications success or fail. After then, The environments setting NAV value from reward. This model minimizes usage of energy and computing resources under the underwater wireless networks, and learns and setting NAV values through intense learning. The results of the simulations show that NAV values can be environmentally adopted and select best value to the circumstances, so the problems which are unnecessary delay times and spacial inequality can be solved. Result of simulations, NAV time decreasing 17.5% compared with original NAV.

  • The surrounding environments in which we live are changing from time to time due to the influence of ICT. At the heart of this change is not only the industrial sector, but it appears in most areas of everyday life. At the center of information and communication technology are software, intelligence, and sensing technology. The government and related organizations are promoting policies to foster various software, and with these policies, the software-related industry is steadily developing. There are positive aspects about software development, but also negative ones. The problems of duplication and progress due to software development have been increasing as the software industry has increased in quantity. In this study, we proposed a more objective method based on software engineering as a solution to problems when problems related to development progress occurred during the software development process.

  • The trends in ICT are concentrated in IoT, Bigdata, and Cloud Computing. These mega-trends do not operate independently, and mass storage technology is essential as large computing technology is needed in the background to support them. In order to evaluate the performance of high-capacity storage based on open source Ceph, we carry out the demonstration test of Abyss Storage with domestic and overseas sites using educational network KOREN. In addition, storage media and network bonding are tested to evaluate the performance of the storage itself. Although there is a substantial difference in aspect of the physical speed among storage medias, there is no significant performance difference in the storage media test performed. As a solution to this problem, we could get performance improvement through network acceleration. In addition, we conducted actual performance test of Abyss Storage internal and external network by connecting domestic and overseas sites using KOREN network.

  • Edge Computing is used as a solution to the cost problem and transmission delay problem caused by network bandwidth consumption that occurs when IoT/CPS devices are integrated into the cloud by performing artificial intelligence (AI) in an environment close to the data source. Since edge computing runs on devices that provide high-performance computation and network connectivity located in the real world, it is necessary to consider application integrity so that it is not exploited by cyber terrorism that can cause human and material damage. In this paper, we propose a technique to protect the integrity of edge computing applications implemented in a script language that is vulnerable to tampering, such as Python, which is used for implementing artificial intelligence, as container images and then digitally signed. The proposed method is based on the integrity protection technology (Docker Contents Trust) provided by the open source container technology. The Docker Client was modified and used to utilize the whitelist for container signature information so that only containers allowed on edge computing devices can be operated.

  • In this paper, we propose an example of designing and constructing a roof-type solar power plant structure equipped with a Pseudo-BIPV (Building-Integrated Photovoltaic) shape suitable for use as a roof of a small warehouse with a sandwich-type panel structure. As the characteristics of the roof-type solar power generation facility to be installed in the small warehouse proposed in this study, the shape of the roof is not a general A type, but a right-angled triangle shape with the slope is designed to face south. We chose a structure in which an inverter for one power plant and a control facility are linked by grouping several roofs of buildings. In addition, the height of the roof structure is less than 20 cm from the floor, and it has a shape similar to that of the BIPV, so it is building-friendly because it is almost in close contact with the roof. At the same time, the roof creates a reflective light source due to the white color. By linking this roof with a double-sided solar panel, we designed it to obtain both the advantage of the roof-friendliness and the advantage of efficiency improvement for the electric power generation based on the double-sided panel. Compared to the existing solar power generation facilities using A-shaped cross-sectional modules, the power generation efficiency of roofs in this case is increased by more than 11%, which we can confirm, through the comparison analysis of monitoring data between power plants in the same area. Therefore, if the roof-type solar structure suitable for the small warehouse we have presented in this paper is used, the facilities of electric power generation is eco-friendly. Further it is easier to obtain facility certification compared to the BIPV, and improved capacity of the power generation can be secured at low material cost. It is believed that the roof-type solar power generation facility we proposed can be usefully used for warehouse or factory-based smart housing. Sensor devices for monitoring, CCTV monitoring, or safety and environment management, operating in connection with the solar power generation facilities, are linked with the Internet of Things (IoT) solution, so they can be monitored and controlled remotely.

  • The recent past has seen a tremendous amount of advancement in the field of Internet of Things (IoT), allowing the influx of a variety of devices into the market. IoT devices are present in almost every aspect of our daily lives. While this increase in usage has many advantages, it also comes with many problems, including and not limited to, the problem of security. There is a need for better measures to be put in place to ensure that the users' data is protected. In particular, fitness trackers used by a vast number of people, transmit important data regarding the health and location of the user. This data is transmitted from the fitness device to the phone and from the phone onto a cloud server. The transmission from device to phone is done over Bluetooth and the latest version of Bluetooth Light Energy (BLE) is fairly advanced in terms of security, it is susceptible to attacks such as Man-in-the-Middle attack and Denial of Service attack. Additionally, the data must be stored in an encrypted form on the cloud server; however, this proves to be a problem when the data must be decrypted to use for running computations. In order to ensure protection of data, measures such as end-to-end encryption may be used. Homomorphic encryption is a class of encryption schemes that allow computations on encrypted data. This paper explores the application of homomorphic encryption for fitness trackers.

  • Today, smart grids, smart homes, smart water networks, and intelligent transportation, are infrastructure systems that connect our world more than we ever thought possible and are associated with a single concept, the Internet of Things (IoT). The number of devices connected to the IoT and hence the number of traffic flow increases continuously, as well as the emergence of new applications. Although cutting-edge hardware technology can be employed to achieve a fast implementation to handle this huge data streams, there will always be a limit on size of traffic supported by a given architecture. However, recent cloud-based big data technologies fortunately offer an ideal environment to handle this issue. Moreover, the ever-increasing high volume of traffic created on demand presents great challenges for flow management. As a solution, flow aggregation decreases the number of flows needed to be processed by the network. The previous works in the literature prove that most of aggregation strategies designed for smart grids aim at optimizing system operation performance. They consider a common identifier to aggregate traffic on each device, having its independent static aggregation policy. In this paper, we propose a dynamic approach to aggregate flows based on traffic characteristics and device preferences. Our algorithm runs on a big data platform to provide an end-to-end network visibility of flows, which performs high-speed and high-volume computations to identify the clusters of similar flows and aggregate massive number of mice flows into a few meta-flows. Compared with existing solutions, our approach dynamically aggregates large number of such small flows into fewer flows, based on traffic characteristics and access node preferences. Using this approach, we alleviate the problem of processing a large amount of micro flows, and also significantly improve the accuracy of meeting the access node QoS demands. We conducted experiments, using a dataset of up to 100,000 flows, and studied the performance of our algorithm analytically. The experimental results are presented to show the promising effectiveness and scalability of our proposed approach.
