Power can be generated from either renewable or non-renewable sources. Renewable sources are liked to maintain a strategic distance from contamination emanation and rely on upon fossil energizes which is decreasing day by day. The proposed sun powered vitality transformation unit comprises of a sun oriented exhibit, Bidirectional DC-DC converter, single stage inverter and AC. The inverter changes over DC control from the PV board into AC power and offered it to the heap which is associated with the lattice. The photovoltaic sun powered vitality (PV) is the most direct approach to change over sunlight based radiation into power and depends on the photovoltaic impact. The most extreme power point following of the PV yield for all daylight conditions is a key to keep the yield control per unit cost low for fruitful PV applications. Framework associated PV frameworks dependably have an association with people in general power matrix by means of an appropriate inverter in light of the fact that a PV module conveys just dc power. This project presents the new design, Development and Performance Analysis of a Grid Connected PV Inverter. Demonstrate that the proposed framework can lessen the Energy Consumption radically from the power board and give a solid support to the Grid.
Isolated power systems (IPS) are often characterized by a weak grid due to small power grids. The grid side voltage is no longer equivalent to an ideal voltage source of an infinitely big power grid. The conversion control of new energy sources, parameter perturbations as well as the load itself can easily cause the system voltage to oscillate or to become unstable. To solve this problem, increasing the energy-storage power sources is usually used to improve the reliability of a system. In order to provide support for the voltage, the energy-storage power source inverter needs an method to control the voltage source. Therefore, this paper has proposed the active damping control of a voltage source inverter (VSI) based on virtual compensation. By simplifying the VSI double closed-loop control, two feedback compensation channels have been constructed to reduce the VSI output impedance without changing the characteristics of the voltage gain of a system. This improvement allows systems to operate stably in a larger range. A frequency-domain analysis, and simulation and experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.

The efficient power MOSFET inverter applied for a simple and low cost power supply is proposed for driving the dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) lamp load. For decades, the DBD phenomenon has been used for ozone gas production in industry. In this research, the ultraviolet and visible light sources utilizing the DBD lamp is considered as the load for solid-state high frequency power supply. It is found that the simple voltage-source single-ended quasi-resonant ZVS inverter with only one active power switch could effectively drive this load with the output power up to 700 W. The pulse density modulation based control scheme for the single-ended quasi-resonant ZVS inverter using a low voltage and high current power MOSFET switching device is proposed to provide a linear power regulation characteristic in the wide range 0-100% of the full power as compared with the conventional control based Royer type parallel resonant inverter type power supplies.
By placing distributed generation power sources beside a big nonlinear load, these sources can be used as a power quality enhancer, while injecting some active power to the network. In this paper, a new scheme to use the distributed generation power source in both operation modes is presented. In this scheme, a fuzzy controller is added to adjust the optimal set point of inverter between compensating mode and maximum active power injection mode, which works based on the harmonic content of the nonlinear load. As the high order current harmonics can be easily rejected using passive filters, the DG is used to compensate the low order harmonics of the load current. Multilevel transformerless cascade inverters are preferred in such utilization, as they have more flexibility in current/voltage waveform. The proposed scheme is simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK to evaluate the circuit performance. Then, a 1kw single phase prototype of the circuit is used for experimental evaluation of the paper. Both simulative and experimental results prove that such a circuit can inject a well-controlled current with desired harmonics and THD, while having a smaller switching frequency and better efficiency, related to previous 3-phase inverter schemes in the literature.
A modular three-phase multilevel inverter especially suitable for electrical drive applications has been previously presented. This topology is based on series connection of power cells in which each cell comprised of two inverter legs in series. In this paper, in order to generate the maximum number of voltage levels with reduced number of switches, three algorithms are proposed for determination of the magnitudes of dc voltage sources. In addition, a new hybrid multilevel inverter is proposed that is composed of series connection of the previously presented multilevel inverter and some H-bridges. The proposed topology has been compared with some other presented multilevel inverters. The performance of the proposed multilevel inverter has been verified by simulation and experimental results of a single-phase 39-level multilevel inverter.
This paper proposes a power conditioning system (PCS) for distributed photovoltaic (PV) applications using an asymmetric cascaded multilevel inverter with a single PV source. One of the main disadvantages of the cascaded multilevel inverters in PV systems is the requirement of multiple isolated DC sources. Using multiple PV strings leads to a compromise in either the voltage balance of individual H-bridge cells or the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) operation due to localized variations in atmospheric conditions. The proposed PCS uses a single PV source with a flyback DC-DC converter to facilitate a reduction of the required DC sources and to maintain the voltage balance during MPPT operation. The flyback converter is used to provide input for low-voltage H-bridge cells which processes only 20% of the total power. This helps to minimize the losses occurring in the proposed PCS. Furthermore, transient analyses and controller design for the proposed PCS in both the stand-alone mode and the grid-connection mode are presented. The feasibility of the proposed PCS and its control scheme have been tested using a 1kW hardware prototype and the obtained results are presented.
Recent developments in power electronics technology have spurred interest in the use of renewable energy sources as distributed generation (DG) generators. The key component in DG generators is a grid-connected inverter that serves as an effective interface between the renewable energy source and the utility grid. The multifunctional inverter (MFI) is special type of grid-connected inverter that has elicited much attention in recent years. MFIs not only generate power for DGs but also provide increased functionality through improved power quality and voltage and reactive power support; thus, the capability of the auxiliary service for the utility grid is improved. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the various MFI system configurations for single-phase (two-wire) and three-phase (three- or four-wire) systems and control strategies for the compensation of different power quality problems. The advances in practical applications and recent research on MFIs are presented through a review of nearly 200 papers.
Micro-source units having power ratings in thousands of watts can provide even higher reliability and fuel efficiency than the conventional large scale units. These units are also clustered with loads creating micro-grid services to customer sites such as office buildings, industrial parks and homes. Micro-sources adopt voltage source inverter to ensure the power quality of sensitive loads. This paper deals with the connection of micro-sources into the system grid. Modeling and simulation of the grid connected micro-sources at the power frequency range are investigated. Simulation results show that the micro-grid system with two micro-sources has good dynamic characteristics.
A common DC bus is a useful connection for several DC output sources such as photovoltaic (PV), fuel cells, and batteries. Operation of the common DC power system with more than two DC output sources, especially in a stand-alone mode, requires a control scheme for the stable operation of the system. In this paper, a control scheme has been developed for applying DC power sources to the distribution system. The purpose of the control scheme is to make the best use of the DC power sources. The DC power system consists of PV, two energy storage systems and a DC-AC inverter with the control scheme. A distribution system was modeled in PSCAD/EMTDC. As the results, the control scheme is applied to the DC-AC inverter and the DC-DC converter for transfer operations between the grid-connected and the stand-alone mode to keep the DC bus and the AC voltage constant. The results from the simulation demonstrate the stable operation of a grid connected DC power system.
It is known that reactive component of AC power in the power system gives no energy to outside and cuses enlargiment of power apparatus, voltage fluctuation and unstability of power system. The power conversion system and control system which are composed of power semiconductor devices such as tyristor, transistor, GTO and so on have been appeared as new sources of reactive power. So the cmpensation of reactive power in power semiconductor systems is one of impending problem on the point of energy conservation and inprovement of power factor. This paper treates the fundamental review of the current type power compensation system that compensates the reactive power by MOSFET inverter. This inverter detects not only the reactive power of fundamental wave but also that of all harmoics created in the power semiconductor system and is scheduled to control by sampled value.
