Motor drive control development: a new approach to learning and design

  • This paper presents an intuitive and powerful way to study and design motor drive control. The control of induction motors, as most widely used machines, is discussed. Thanks to ultra low latency and high fidelity Hardware-in-the-Loop systems, different aspects of up-to-date drive regulation are examined. A power stage, comprised of a grid voltage source, a rectifier, a VSC inverter and an induction motor, is emulated on the HIL platform in real time. A digital signal controller is plugged into the interface board and connected to the HIL emulation platform, without any hardware modifications. For motor control and power electronics applications, a dedicated Texas Instruments TMS320F2808 DSP is chosen. The same controller can drive an emulation platform and a real device with no modifications. Current and speed control loop test results are presented and discussed.

  • ADE i,1 a software tool for the design and implementation of multi-agent systems. ADE allows a designer to draw a multi-agent system graphically, specify the necessary properties, and deploy their applications. ADE offers a set of intuitive, easy to use interfaces that enable a designer to completely specify the agents and agent interactions in a multi-agent system. In this environment, JATLite/sup [1]/ is improved significantly. Furthermore, ADE provides a unique set of features for a multi-agent system design tool. An agent description method based on Design roadmap/sup [2]/ theory, a hierarchy of agents, and a fully featured Java-based Graphical User Interface are combined in ADE. This distinct combination of features mates ADE stand out among the existing multi-agent system design tools. This paper presents the research related to the application of the ADE, along with descriptions of its design and implementation.

  • For agile production methods, manufacturing system requires development of a motion controller which has flexibility of general-purpose motion controller and productivity of specialized-purpose one. In this study we developed the Flowchart Programming development environment for Motion language and Process Control. The controller designed on this environment can be used as a general purpose motion controller of a machining tool. Design of control programming based on a flowchart has the advantage of reducing the time consumed and intuitive interface for users. We create the solution with the Microsoft Visio for the flowchart-based platform and OPC for the process communication..

  • This paper presents a Windows graphic developed by the authors for the education and training of power system. Object-oriented programming is a major trend in computer software because it increases flexibility of large-scale software systems. An efficient platform for power system simulation applications has been proposed. This paper presents an intuitive Windows-based program for the power system analysis. The advantages of the object-oriented approach are demonstrated with an implementation of the graphical program. It provides a graphical interface for designing the one-line diagram of the bus and analyzing the output of the simulations. A graphical editor to visually edit the power system, diagram, results processing and exporting and graphic presentations.

  • This paper describes a cell programming environment that deals with problems associated with programming Flexible Manufacturing Cells(FMCs). The environment consists of the cell programming editor and the automatic generation module. In the cell programming editor, cell programmers can develop cell programs using task level description set which supports task-oriented specifications for manipulation cell activities. This approach to cell programming reduces the amount of details that cell programmers need to consider and allows them to concentrate on the most important aspects of the task at hand. The automatic generation module is used to transform task specifications into executable programs used by cell constituents. This module is based on efficient algorithm and expert systems which can be used for optimal path planning of robot operations and optimal machining parameters of machine tool operations. The development tool in designing the environment is an object-oriented approach which provides a simple to use and intuitive user interface, and allows for an easy development of object models associated with the environment.

Augmented Reality based Interactive Storyboard System (증강현실 기반의 인터랙티브 스토리보드 제작 시스템)

  • In early stages of film or animation production, storyboard is used to visually describe the outline of a story. Drawings or photographs, as well as the texts, are employed for character / item placements and camera pose. However, commercially available storyboard tools are mainly drawing and editing tools, not providing functionality for item placement and camera control. In this paper, an Augmented Reality based storyboard tool is presented, which provides an intuitive and easy-to-use interface for storyboard development. Using the presented tool, non-expert users may compose 30 scenes in his or her real environments through tangible building blocks which are used to fetch corresponding 3D models and their pose.

  • Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) has enabled a visually appealing, browser-based application for the display of Brassica sequences relative to Arabidopsis thaliana, and there are currently more than 70,000 B. napus Expressed Sequence Tags (ESTs) displayed. The client side of this browser is based on a Custom Graphical User Interface (CGUI) library which uses SVG, a new web graphics standard, to provide windowing functionality inside the web browser. This windowing functionality, combined with asynchronous data retrieval and client side rendering overcomes two of the key technology imposed drawbacks of current web based browsers: Fixed displays and frequent page reloads. The end result is an intuitive and enjoyable browsing experience. The browser is accessible online from the Brassica / Arabidopsis Genomics Initiative (http://brassica.agr.gc.ca).   • The communication method between human and robot is one of the important parts for a human-robot interaction. And speech is easy and intuitive communication method for human-being. By using speech as a communication method for robot, we can use robot as familiar way. In this paper, we developed TTS for human-robot interaction. Synthesis algorithms were modified for an efficient utilization of restricted resource in robot. And synthesis database were reconstructed for an efficiency. As a result, we could reduce the computation time with slight degradation of the speech quality.
