Cho Heon Yeong's 'Tongsokanuihagwollon' is an introductory and essential book on Traditional Korean Medicine(TKM), and now we can nearly take it as classic. It contains almost whole contents of TKM : physiology, pathology, herbology, meridian & acupoint, internal medicine, diagnostics, formula science, etc. He wanted to help people get TKM services easily on their own through this book. In the first chapter following the introduction, he inserted Yin-Yang theory, and his lecture on Yin-Yang theory continues for 88 pages, taking 17% of the whole book. Yin-Yang theory chapter is composed of 14 parts which tells about concept, definition and meaning of Yin-Yang, change of Yin-Yang according to time, season, constitution, body region, meridian, herb, etc. Last part refers to disharmony & dysfunction of Yin-Yang in body, so he showed both theoretical and clinical view of Yin-Yang theory. He wrote some quotations from the book 'Complete Works of Jingyue(景岳全書)', 'Huangdi's Internal Classic(黃帝內徑)', 'Introduction to Medicine(醫學入門)', etc. He tried to explain easily about Yin-Yang theory with modern but rough language of science. He seemed to already know clearly that without modern science TKM cannot progress and will soon be overwhelmed by western medicine, and acted his own way to spread spirit of TKM in the period of rapid change & conflict between two civilizations.

Introduction : Pneumonia is an inflammation of alveolus and pneumal parenchyma and it is one of common pediatric diseases. According to, pneumonia belongs to the Haesu(咳嗽), Chunsik(喘息), Phechng(肺脹), Pungon(風溫). Purpose : The purpose of this study is to find out whether Socheongryongtanggamibang has any effects on children with pneumonia. Method : The subjects are in regard to children with pneumonia who visited Dae Jeon Oriental Medicine Hospital from December 2002 to April 2003. The herbal medicine therapy are applied for one week. Result and Conclusion : After treatment, the symptoms (coughing, rhinorrhea, sputum, fever) of pneumonia were improved. More studies about the Oriental Medicine treatment and conception on pneumonia are needed.

This study was conducted to identify the needs of introducing new medical specialties in oriental medicine. Three stakeholders in introducing new oriental medical specialties are oriental medical doctors, policy makers and medical consumers. Of the three, this study intended to focus on opinions of oriental medical doctors. About 1,150 self-administered questionaries were sent to the potential respondents, 320 specialists, 250 interns & residents and 580 private oriental medicine practitioners, and 480 doctors responded. The study revealed that 62% of respondents showed negative attitudes towards the introduction of new oriental medicine specialties. The private oriental medical practitioners were more likely not in favor of adding new medical boardmanship. The reasons of objection were as follows : First, it is more important to enrich the existing oriental medical boardmanship (70%). Second, the newly established specialties are most likely to be weakened(15%). The study revealed that the first and most likely specialties to be introduced was Chuna(18%), subspecialization of oriental internal medicine (15.8%), the next oriental family medicine (15.1%) and so on. And the second specialties to be desired most by the respondents were (1) cooperative medicine between the westem and oriental medicine (28%), (2) oriental preventive medicine (17.4%) and (3) oriental family medicine (16.8%). Caution must be exercised in introducing new oriental medicine specialties. The failures of western medicine in the operation of its specialist production should carefully by examined here.

Precious Mirror of Korean Medicine constitutes the basis of Korean orthodox medicine. In Korea it is regarded as the most influential medical work in existence and therefore been accorded first place among the medical works. Many books and reference works referred to Six Viscera and Five Bowels were quoted in Precious Mirror of Korean Medicine. This dissertation is to study quoted passages and reference books related to Six Bowels and Five Viscera in Precious Mirror of Korean Medicine. Based upon the medical works-Introduction to Medicine, Elementary Questions and Spiritual Pivot of Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine, Difficult Classic, Compendium of Medicine, A-B Classic of acupuncture and Moxibustion Pulse Classic, Synopsis of Golden Chamber, Key to Therapeutics of Children's Diseases, A Complete Work of Ancient and Modern Medicine, and etc.-- all but few references the quotations are clearly traced to their origin. It is hoped that this preliminary study will serve as a starting point for further work on the text, with more specific attention to the method of quotations and its many linguistic problems.

1. Introduction This study aims to survey knowledge and attitude of Sasang constitution investigators on the Sasang constitution clinical study. 2. Methods We have made up list of 24 Sasang constitution investigators who have conducted Sasang constitution clinical study before. The study has been surveyed for 20 investigators who has been experiencing clinical study bye-mail or interview. 3. Results 1) The recognition degree on clinical study for sasang constitutional investigators was relatively lower than that for non-oriental investigators. 2) Most investigators have difficulty in designing a Protocol and they thought Protocol is most important in clinical study. 3) The investigators has stressed the need of diagnosis guideline on Sasang Constitution in performing clinical study. 4. Conclusions Special course of clinical study for sasang constitutional investigators should be prepared to activate Sasang constitution clinical study. This course may set up the guideline of sasang constitution clinical study and designing protocol. Also it is urgent to develop constitution diagnosis guideline for clinical study.

Several modalities that have been used in Korean medicine have not undergone evaluation. The Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine (KIOM), a South Korean national research agency, launched the Korean medicine case Report (KORE) program in May 2019 to promote case reports, especially among clinicians. The aim was to (1) introduce the KIOM-initiated KORE program, (2) report the results from the KORE program, and (3) present the challenges and limitation from the KORE program. We conducted a narrative review of the cases to which KORE was applied. A total of 16 proposals were reviewed since May 2019. Five proposals were rejected, and 7 case reports were included. Case reports for 3 therapies have been created under guidance. The KORE program makes it easier for Korean medicine doctors to initiate and complete case reports.

${\ulcorner}$Uirimchwaryo(醫林撮要)${\lrcorner}$ is a medical book that takes a model of written in the middle of Chosun dynasty. In the contents side, it seems to unite a korea medicine with the Geum-Won Dynasty(金元時代) in ancient china. we can think much of the value that it combines theory with experience, choosing the merits of ${\ulcorner}$Uibangyuchwi(醫方類聚)${\lrcorner}$ which were the masterpieces of the first half of Chosun Dynasty and it increased a practical use to choose easily prescription in the clinic. This book which was proofread and published by imperial physician Yang Yaesoo(楊禮壽, ? ${\sim}$ 1597) is not exist. In this condition, existing print type is added by scholars only after ${\ulcorner}$Donguibogam(東醫寶鑑)${\lrcorner}$ was compiled. When the academic conference was held in last year, I introduced a chosun printed book in japan's possession, moreover I survey more documents. I will investigate and arrange a few old printed books that are handed down to Chosun and Japan. In addition, I will present Korea and foreign researching results, trend about ${\ulcorner}$Uirimchwaryo${\lrcorner}$ which is finished lately and researching materials about translating into current korean language. We can evaluate the value and effect of ${\ulcorner}$Uirimchwaryo${\lrcorner}$ in Chosun dynasty of medical history.

This study is a report on recently discovered medical records based on traditional medicine in the 1900s. First, the contents of the records and their significance are described in detail. Next, a simple example of the research follows, in order to explain the medical and historical significance the records contain and to answer the question of how this historical document can contribute to future medical and historical studies. The documents dealt with in this study, the Chunggang Medical Records, are medical records compiled by a Korean doctor of oriental medicine by the name of Younghun Kim who practiced in the center of Seoul for a period of over 60 years. The records, which eventually amounted to over 1,500 books, were made known to the academic world when the descendents recently donated them to Kyunghee University. The reason these medical records attract so much attention from academic circles, even though they are the work of one individual, is that they contain abundant information on general public medical health at the time, in addition to the fact that Kim Younghun was a well known figure among Oriental Medicine doctors in Korea. The medical records start in 1915 and continue until Kim Younhun's death in 1974, though they have some damaged or missing parts. Kim's medical records are a gold mine not only for scholars studying the medical history of the early 1900s, but also for doctors trying to emulate the techniques embedded in a great predecessor's medical practice.

만성적이며 재발성 질환인 베체트 병에 대한 한의학적인 진단과 치료의 개념을 도입하고 동서협진의 연구기반을 정립하기 위하여 동서의학적 고찰을 하였다. 서의학적으로는 터키의 피부과 의사인 베체트가 1937년 처음으로 하나의 증후군으로 베체트 병을 제시한 이래로 여러 가지 원인과 치료들이 제시되었으나 아직까지 만족할만한 치료제가 개발되지 못한 상태이며 진단에 있어서 보조적 진단방법이나 질병의 진행상태를 파악할 수 있는 검사방법이 없어 치료에 대한 반응을 객관적으로 측정하기에는 한계가 있다. 한의학적인 많은 임상치료가 시행되었고, 한의학적 임상례를 통하여 볼 때 보편적으로 사용되는 내복약 외에도 침구요법, 외용방, 광선요법 등이 응용될 수 있음을 제시하였다.
