  • The purpose of this study is to understand the effect of violence in sports on intention to sport continuance among female athletes and to analysis the mediating effect of depression and the difference groups according to help-seeking. In order to accomplish these purposes, this study surveyed from September to October in 2010. The final subjects in the analysis were 345 female athletes who are belong to school athletic team, professional team, business team, and national team. The data were analyzed with SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 10.0 for conducting multiple group analysis. The main results of this study are as follows; First, those who were suffered by emotional violence were 62.4%; those who are damaged by physical violence were 28.6% among the participants in this study. In case of intention to sport continuance, when measured by a rule of five, was average 3.15. 29.9% of the female athletes scored above the standard of depression. Second, depression turned out to have a partial mediating effect within the relationship where violence in sports has effect on intention to sport continuance. Third, between experimental and non-experimental group on help-seeking among female athletes, there was a statistically significant difference in the structural relationship. This means that help-seeking has moderating effect within the path of violence in sports affecting depression. Based on the results, this study suggested that there is a strong need for intervention for the both prevention and cure of the sports violence. It is necessary to develop preventive programs and coping strategies on female athletes' depression and intention to sport continuance.

  • Background: Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is a standard diagnostic method for mediastinal and hilar lymphadenopathy. Although rare, fatal infectious complications can occur following EBUS-TBNA. However, to date, there is a lack of effective preventive strategies to reduce these complications. We started a trial to investigate the effect of chlorhexidine mouthrinse on the prevention of microbial contamination during EBUS-TBNA. Methods: This study is a single-center, parallel-group, assessor-blinded randomized controlled trial (RCT). We will enroll 112 adult participants undergoing EBUS-TBNA using a convex probe, and randomly assign them to two groups at a 1:1 ratio. The intervention group will gargle for 1 minute with 100 mL of 0.12% chlorhexidine gluconate before EBUS-TBNA, while the control group will have no mouthrinse before the procedure. Immediately after completion of EBUS-TBNA on all targeted lesions with an aspiration needle, a needle wash sample will be taken by instilling 5 mL of sterile saline into the used needle. The primary outcome is colony forming unit (CFU) counts in aerobic cultures of the needle wash samples. Secondary outcomes are CFU counts in anaerobic cultures, fever within 24 hours after EBUS-TBNA, and infectious complications within 4 weeks after EBUS-TBNA. Conclusion: This trial was designed as the first RCT to investigate the effect of chlorhexidine mouthrinse on the prevention of microbial contamination during EBUS-TBNA. Results from this trial can provide clinical evidence for a simple, safe, and cost-effective strategy to prevent infectious complications following EBUS-TBNA (ClinicalTrials.gov ID: NCT04718922, registered on 22 January 2021).

  • Purpose : This study aimed to present the incidence of pressure ulcers and identify different associated factors according to the time of occurrence of pressure ulcers in intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Methods : The participants were 313 patients who reported pressure ulcers among 2,908 patients in ICUs at a large tertiary hospital in Gyeonggi-do. Among them, 220 patients (70.3%) had a pressure ulcer before admission, and 93 patients (29.7%) reported newly developed pressure ulcers after admission to the ICU. Data were collected between August 2018 and April 2019. Along with the time of occurrence and characteristics of pressure ulcers, diverse associated factors were gathered through electronic medical records. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, and 𝑥2-tests. Results : Different risk factors associated with pressure ulcers in ICU patients according to the time of occurrence were main diagnosis, score of acute physiology and chronic health evaluation, score of Richmond agitation sedation scale, level of consciousness, administered sedatives, use of a ventilator, insertion of a feeding tube, and the duration of fasting period. Conclusion : Based on the results of this study, healthcare providers, especially ICU nurses, should try to detect early signs and symptoms of pressure ulcers, taking into account the derived factors associated with pressure ulcers in ICU patients. Practical intervention programs and strategies considering the factors associated with pressure ulcers must be developed to prevent and alleviate such ulcers in ICU patients in the future.

  • Uncertainty of career environment driven by globalization and shift of employment context drives heavy competition of labor market and anxiety of employment for individuals. New career paradigm based on this environmental change puts emphasis on subjective career success from individual's viewpoint as important career outcome and individual's proactive career development efforts. In addition to this, importance of person-environment fit and person-job fit is growing in relationship between career planning and career success. Based on this perspective, this study aims to identify whether person-environment fit and person-job fit mediate the relationship between career development and subjective career success. Data analysis of questionnaire from 220 employees showed that both fits mediate the relationship. This result implies that individual's proactive career planning is critical to career success and this strengthens one's satisfaction to organization and job. To organization, strategies need to be developed to design career development of employees' based on their career needs and organizational intervention such as job-rotation system.
