  • The Computerized Procedure System (CPS) is one of the primary operating support systems in the digital Main Control Room. The CPS displays procedure on the computer screen in the form of a flow chart, and displays plant operating information along with procedure instructions. It also supports operator decision making by providing a system decision. A procedure flow should be correct and reliable, as an error would lead to operator misjudgment and inadequate control. In this paper we present a modeling for the CPS that enables formal verification based on Petri nets. The proposed State Token Petri Nets (STPN) also support modeling of a procedure flow that has various interruptions by the operator, according to the plant condition. STPN modeling is compared with Coloured Petri net when they are applied to Emergency Operating Computerized Procedure. A converting program for Computerized Procedure (CP) to STPN has been also developed. The formal verification and validation methods of CP with STPN increase the safety of a nuclear power plant and provide digital quality assurance means that are needed when the role and function of the CPS is increasing.

  • This study researched the mutual relationship between elevator emergencies(sudden stops, entrapment) and power quality such as voltage interruptions or sags. To analyze the power quality at the elevator switchboard of an apartment, the on-line power quality(sag, swell, and interruption, etc.) were measured and error messages(under voltage error, etc.) in the elevator control room were researched. Also the performance and susceptibility for stops were evaluated and stated through the testing of three pieces of simulated test equipment with an EN12016(2004) standard setting and the magnitude and duration data of the measured sag or interruption. This paper will use these data in the analysis of the mutual relationship between power quality and elevator emergencies.

  • Gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding is a rare adverse event of dasatinib, which is known to be caused by dasatinib-induced colitis, severe thrombocytopenia, and platelet dysfunction. We present two cases of pediatric patients who developed hematochezia during treatment with dasatinib after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). A colonic tissue biopsy was performed to differentiate the cause of GI bleeding. Both patients were diagnosed with proven cytomegalovirus (CMV) colitis, but only one was treated with ganciclovir. The patient who did not receive antiviral therapy experienced recurrent GI bleeding during dasatinib administration, leading to multiple treatment interruptions. During dasatinib therapy after HSCT, patients with GI bleeding and confirmed CMV colitis may benefit from antiviral therapy to reduce interruptions in dasatinib therapy.

  • Exponential smoothing methods have enjoyed a long history of successful applications and have been used in forecasting for many years. However, it has been long known that one of the deficiencies of the method is an inability to respond quickly to interventions to interruptions, or to large changes in level of the underlying process. An exponential smoothing method adaptive to repeated random level changes is proposed using a change-detection statistic derived from a simple dynamic linear model. The results are compared with Trigg and Leach's and the exponential smoothing methods.

  • This paper considers a discrete-time buffer system with session-based arrivals, an infinite storage capacity and one unreliable output line. There are multiple different types of sessions and the output line is governed by a finite state Markov chain. Based on a generating functions approach, we obtain an exact expression for the mean buffer content.

  • Power quality problems such as momentary interruptions and voltage sags do not great influence on loads at past. However, the interests in power quality problems increase as the use of sensitive loads with microprocessor like computers increases recently. Accordingly, power system reliability research focusing to sustained interruption and momentary interruption partially needs more accurate evaluation methods including momentary and instantaneous problems. That is, many sensitive loads being tripped by voltage sags result in interruption costs. In this paper, new reliability worth evaluation method is presented considering voltage sags. We calculated the magnitude of voltage sags using fault studies and the duration of voltage sags using the trip time of protective relays for each fault. Moreover, we includes the customer interruption cost resulted from sensitive load trip by voltage sags. Through case studies, we evaluate the effects of voltage sags for permanent faults.

  • Purpose: We compared three chest compression methods to find an efficient method for performing infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for single rescuers and improving chest compressions quality. Methods: Thirty new marine police trainees at the Korea Coast Guard Education Institute were tested for five sessions using three methods of single rescuer infant CPR: two-finger chest compression, two-thumb encircling chest compression, and two-finger support chest compression. Results: The depth, accuracy, and number of compressions per minute of resuscitation were analyzed for the above three methods. The depth of two-finger chest compression, two-thumb encircling chest compression, and two-finger support chest compression was 3.53±0.20cm, 4.10±0.13cm, and 4.22±0.15cm, respectively. Accuracy was 23.86±12.59%, 54.11±10.8%, 71.55±18.81%, respectively, while the time for one cycle of 30 chest compression was 16.01±10.5 seconds, 16.45±0.85 seconds, and 16.56±0.91 seconds, respectively. Chest compression interruptions were 6.59±0.78 seconds, 7.17±0.37 seconds, and 6.97±0.35 seconds, respectively. The interruptions were consistent with the range of 5-10 seconds suggested by the American Heart Association. Conclusion: When one rescuer performs CPR for an infant in cardiac arrest, a comparative analysis of three methods showed that two-thumb encircling chest compression is the best for accuracy and efficiency of chest compressions.

  • Support policies such as education and training for re-employment of career-interrupted women are being implemented, but they are not being effectively employed. In addition, it is difficult for women with high educational background to re-enter, such as having to revise their previous careers or plan a new career for re-employment. In the previous studies, there was insufficient research to solve fundamental problems for re-employment, such as promising jobs with high employment opportunities. Therefore, when developing a curriculum for women with career interruptions, it was felt the need to select educational occupations that would be helpful in finding employment by age and educational background of the trainees. In this study, data on vocational training education of women with career interruptions were used to analyze the educational occupations with the highest employment rate by age and educational background.

  • Antler, deer horn, occupies a particular place in oriental folk medicine as so called tonic remedy. In order to study on the effects of Antler water extract on stress resistance in mice, quantitative response was measured for the change of spontaneous activity by chemical stress drugs in the control group or the Antler water extract pretreated group. Spontaneous activity in mice was measured by counting the number of interruptions of light. The results of experiment were summerized as follows; I) In case of administrating Antler water extract 10mg/kg, 20mg/kg, 50mg/kg, and 100mg/kg, no significant change was observed in spontaneous activity in comparison with the control group. II) In case of administrating Antler water extract for 5 days or 10 days, no significant change was observed in spontaneous activity by chemical stress drugs, caffein and chloropromazine, in comparison with the control group.

  • Conflicts and interruptions caused by resource failures and rush orders require a nonlinear dynamic production management. Generally the PP&C systems used in industry presently do not meet these requirements because of their rigid concepts. Starting with the grasp of the disadvantages of current approaches, this paper presents a control structure that enables system to react to various malfunctions using a planning tolerance concept. Also, production processes are modeled by using Fuzzy-Petri-Net modeling tool in other to handle the complexity of job allocation and the existence of many disparities. On the basis of this model the developed system support the short-term shop control by rule based decision.
