Utility-based Resource Allocation with Bipartite Matching in OFDMA-based Wireless Systems

  • In order to efficiently utilize limited radio resources, resource allocation schemes in OFDMA-based wireless networks have gained intensive attention recently. Instead of improving the throughput performance, the utility is adopted as the metric for resource allocation, which provides reasonable methods to build up the relationship between user experience and various quality-of-service (QoS) metrics. After formulating the optimization problem by using a weighted bipartite graph, a modified bipartite matching method is proposed to find a suboptimal solution for the resource allocation problem in OFDMA-based wireless systems with feasible computational complexity. Finally, simulation results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This paper proposes a novel of a personalized Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) system based on learner's cognitive abilities related to foreign language proficiency. In this CALL system, a strategy of retrieval learning, a method of learning memory cycle, and a method of repeated learning are applied for effective vocabulary memorization. The system is designed to offer personalized learning based on cognitive abilities related to the human language process. For this, the proposed CALL system has a cognitive diagnosis module which can measure five types of cognitive abilities. The results of this diagnosis are used to create dynamic learning scenarios for personalized learning and to evaluate user performance in the learning. This system is also designed in order to have users be able to create learning word lists and to share them simply with various functions based on open APIs. Additionally, through experiments, it has shown that this system helps students to learn English vocabulary effectively and enhances their foreign language skills.

Effects of Internet Diabetic Education on Glycosylated Hemoglobin and Self-Care in Type 2 Diabetic Patients over One Year (1년 간 인터넷 당뇨교육이 당뇨환자의 당화혈색소와 자가 관리 개선에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of web-based diabetic education on glycosylated hemoglobin(HbAlc) and self-care in people with type 2 diabetes. Method: Twenty-five patients were requested to input the blood glucose level weekly at http://www.biodang.com by cellular phone or wired Internet for one year. The researcher sent optimal recommendations weekly to each patient using the short message service for cellular phones and wired Internet. Results: Patients had a significant mean decrease in HbAlc, from 8.0% at pre-test to 6.9%, after three months and rested at 6.8% until 12 months. Patients had a significant mean increase in physical exercise adherence, from 3.3 days at pre-test to 4.1 days per week, after three months. Patients had a significant mean increase in foot care adherence, from 4.8 days at pre-test to 6.9 days per week, after one year. Conclusion: These findings indicate that Internet education could be used to improve HbAlc, physical exercise, and foot care adherence in type 2 diabetic patients.

  • An educational system using computers was first conceptualized by Dr. Donald Bitzer in the University of Illinois in the late 1950s. Since the PLATO system was developed in 1961, multilateral research were made for the last 30 years. Especially, the development of Internet and Information Technology has contributed to the advancement of the distance education system. This system has greatly changed the existing educational paradigm, As the result, new education system is being realized, This study suggests a distance education system based on ‘push’ technique, which is a means of active information transmission, In this system, the ‘push’ technique is combined with the existing distance education system. Through the combination, learning contents can be provided for learners without connecting the DB on the Internet. In addition, the process of getting new information is real-timed operation. Also, the treatment of item; and the algorithm of level-based item evaluation are devised in consideration of various levels of learners, so that evaluation of items appropriate to the levels of learners can be accomplished.

  • Web-based teaching-learning systems through the internet has continuously pursued the learner-centered educational environment by promoting the interaction between leachers and students. As a result, learners haute become free of the limit of time and space and have more ways to have access to education information more easily. Consequently, the development of the internet has resulted in the changes of the educational environment. Web-based distance education through the internet is now expected to be applied widely in various fields of education. In fact, distance education through the internet has taken place in a new education paradigm. The purpose of this paper is to promote the economical and educational efficiency of all the procedures from developing the system to operating in a remote training cyber system. Therefore in developing the system, we designed it to raise the efficiency by making main modulo into components and by reducing the terms and cost by reuse. Also lute meant to raise the efficiency of education by applying constructivism as an educational basic.

  • The Internet of Things (IoT) is a new paradigm that is revolutionizing computing. It is intended that all objects around us will be connected to the network, providing "anytime, anywhere" access to information. This study introduces IoT with Kolb's learning style in order to enhance the learning experience especially for inclusive education for primary and secondary schools where delivery of knowledge is not limited to physical, cognitive disabilities, human diversity with respect to ability, language, culture, gender, age and of other forms of human differences. The article also emphasizes the role of learning style as a discovery process that incorporates the characteristics of problem solving and learning. Kolb's Learning Style was chosen as it is widely used in research and in practical information systems applications. A consistent pattern of finding emerges by using a combination of Kolb's learning style and internet of things where specific individual differences, learning approach differences and IoT application differences are taken as a main research framework. Further several suggestions were made by using this combination to IoT architecture and smart environment of internet of things. Based on these suggestions, future research directions are proposed.

Development of State-Based Squeak and an Examination of Its Effect on Robot Programming Education

  • Robot programming often sparks students' interest in programming, but it is not easy for them to program both procedure and reactivity of robot movements that are essential requirements. In this study, we reviewed in detail a new programming language, State-Based Squeak. It allows novice students to implement both procedure and reactivity of robots easily. The effect of this new language on robot programming education was also examined using a group of 28 middle school students. According to the results of analyzing the students' understanding of programming, reading and programming abilities the group that used State-Based Squeak (the experimental group) showed a higher completion ratio than the other (control) group. The significance of this study is that a robot programming language has been developed that addresses the concepts of both procedure and reactivity in such a way that middle school students can more easily learn how to program robots, something that is often difficult to attempt even for professional programmers.

  • This study attempted to obtain implications for digital education policy by reviewing the Framework Acts and Enforcement Decrees related to digital education. To this end, the following were explored. First, the concept and components of digital competency were reviewed. Second, the Framework Acts and Enforcement Decrees related to digital education policy were reviewed using the above concepts. Third, the characteristics and implications of the Framework Acts and Enforcement Decrees for digital education were explored. The results are as follows: Korea's digital education policy tried to reflect the categories that digital competency must cover, even its function and dysfunction role. However, to achieve their purpose, it is necessary to maintain consistency with related laws or policies. We identified that amendments to the Basic Act and related articles are essential to effectively enforce the Digital-Based Distance Education Activation Basic Act. A reevaluation of the correlation between Article 10, emphasizing digital media literacy education, and Article 5 of the enforcement decree is necessary. Revision of the enforcement decree to align with Article 10's objectives is vital to ensure proactive measures for promoting digital literacy and competence as mandated by the Basic Act.

The Effect of Providing Information Using a Mobile Internet Terminal on Anxiety, Discomfort and Satisfaction with Education among Patients Undergoing a Coronary Angiogram (모바일인터넷 단말기를 이용한 정보제공이 관상동맥 조영술 대상자의 불안, 불편감 및 교육만족도에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the effect of providing information using a mobile internet terminal on anxiety, discomfort and satisfaction with education among patients undergoing a coronary angiogram. Methods: Data were collected from July 27, 2016 to February 23, 2017. A total of 64 participants (34 for the experiment group and 30 for the control group) admitted to a department of cardiology internal medicine for coronary angiography were recruited. Data were analyzed by SPSS Window 22.0 Program. Results: Information provided through mobile internet terminal did not affect anxiety and objective and subjective discomfort of the participants for coronary angiography, it was effective in satisfaction with education. Conclusion: Based on the results, it is indicated that video education using a mobile internet terminal could be an effective method to improve nurses' work efficiency and quality and to raise satisfaction with education.

  • We want to achieve the reliable information system such as e learning system in the internet environments. The difficulty of the program reliability estimation comes from faults that occurred from program and data files are distributed among several servers. This paper is focus on a modeling approach based on Colored Petri Nets to estimate the program reliability in an internet environment. The procedure of analyzing the reliability is as follows. At first, we propose an internet program model. This model is transformed into a Colored Petri net, and the reliability is estimated. We adapt this model to the analyzing the reliability in the internet environment. This method is very simple, and is very helpful to develope program
