  • The study looked into the effect of internet utilization (utilization frequency and utilization ability in internet) on the life satisfaction level for the elderly in depth. In order to verify the correlation of two variables, a mediating model structured by ego integrity was used which gave out the Seoul welfare panel data created by Seoul welfare foundation in 2010. The total sample size was a group of 1862 elders aged over 60. When it came to our research methods, structured equation analysis was applied to verify the mediating effect and theoretical background. The findings are as follows: First, elderly's utilization frequency in internet is not an influencing factor to life satisfaction and elderly's utilization ability in internet is an influencing factor to life satisfaction. Second, the level of social activity did function as partial mediator on relationship between elderly's utilization ability in internet and life satisfaction. This study indicates theoretical and practical interventions to promote elderly's utilization in internet.

And internet addiction is associated with pathologic personality but clinic study about Internet addiction disorder is lack. This study was designed to evaluate the relationship between internet addiction and pattern of internet utilization. We conducted a questionnaire survey on 1,984 middle school students in Gwang -Ju. We questioned about internet addiction, general characteristics, pattern of internet utilization. 11.8% of total number were internet addiction. Sex, religion, duration, time, place, obscene sites, most frequent using service is associated with internet addiction. Family number, occupation of parents, using internet in home, use of parents isn't associated with internet addiction. We show interest in general characteristics and pattern of internet utilization about internet addiction. So we council youths about internet problem in accordance with this study results. Then internet addiction and other psychologic problem are decreased.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate impulse buying and the searching for sources of information among males and females in their 20s by their utilization of sales promotion in an internet fashion shopping mall. The findings were as follows: First, there was a statistically significant difference in the use of sales promotion by age and gender. Second, two factors, such as a price-oriented utilization of sales promotion and a non price-oriented utilization of sales promotion were extracted from the analysis of sub factors of the utilization of sales promotion in an internet fashion shopping mall. Third, five factors, including affective impulse buying, provocative impulsive buying, situational impulse buying, reminder impulse buying, and pure impulsive buying, were extracted from the analysis of sub factors of impulse buying in an internet fashion shopping mall. Fourth, the utilization of sales promotions in an internet fashion shopping mall had statistically significant effects on the sub factors of impulse buying, provocative impulse buying, situational impulse buying, reminder impulse buying, and pure impulse buying. Fifth, the analysis of the correlation between the utilization of sales promotion and the searching for sources of information revealed that price-oriented utilization of sales promotion had a correlation with DM or text message, advice from friends or family, advice from a sales person, information from friends or colleagues, celebrity supporters on TV dramas or movies, and product commercials and information.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the awareness and utilization of the Internet resources and services for academic activities by the academic staff of tertiary institutions in Adamawa State. The researchers adopted a quantitative research method using cross-sectional survey design to collect data from the respondents. Multi-stage sampling techniques were used. Three hundred and thirty-three (333) copies of the questionnaire were administered to the respondents in the eight (8) sampled institutions and two hundred and ninety-two (292) respondents representing (87.6%) were returned and found useful. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics by the use of SPSS version 20.0. The findings revealed that respondents were aware of all the Internet resources, (e-books, e-journals, and online databases), but regarding the Internet services, they were mostly aware of only the e-mail. The study further found that online database and e-mail as the most Internet resources and services utilized by the respondents. There are inverse and weak relationship between awareness and utilization of the Internet resources and services by the academic staff of tertiary institutions in Adamawa State. The study recommends increase awareness and use to other Internet resources such as the e-books and e-journal and Internet services, especially Usenet, Discussion group and Telnet by the management of the institutions through training, workshops/conferences for better academic activities.

  • The purposes of this research were to; (a) identify useful information source; (b) assess the usefulness of the Internet as an information source; and (c) assess the degree of Internet utilization for purchasing process in food service industry. The results were as follows; 1. 'personal experience and colleague recommendation' was perceived as the most useful information source, whereas the most frequently used source was 'Internet web site' for real purchasing practice. 2. the most frequently used purchasing activity through Internet was 'online ordering', followed by 'gathering product/component information', however e-marketplace or Internet bidding were less performed by Internet. 3. acquisition of real time information, rapidity, accuracy, and increasing effectiveness of purchasing process were reported the advantages of Internet utilization. 4. respondents somewhat or strongly agreed with the importance of Internet in terms of present and future purchasing management. The results of the research suggest that Internet should be able to improve purchasing process and enhance buyer-supplier relationship directly or indirectly, therefore food service industry should consider making attempt to new purchasing systems through Internet for strategic sourcing and effective procurement management.

  • This study aims to identify the causation effect between technostress and utilization of Internet information and meditation effect of information service acceptability between technostress and Internet information utilization. The data were collected from 503 woman farmers aged 20 to 65 across the country. The analysis performed a three-stage mediated regression of Bron, & Kenny (1986), using the SPSS 21.0 statistical package. The importance of accepting information services has been identified in the Sobel test. According to the analysis of the medium effect on information service acceptability, information service acceptability has a partial medium effect on the technological stress of woman farmers and the level of Internet information utilization. In order to lower the technology of woman farmers in the future, it is necessary to find ways to improve new perceptions of information technology and increase acceptability of information services.

  • We propose a two-stage resource allocation algorithm for the high link utilization of an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing passive optical network (OFDM-PON). An OFDM-PON is assumed to use a synchronous frame structure in supporting service differentiation. In distributing resources, the proposed algorithm first allocates a time window for each optical network unit (ONU), and then it arranges a subchannel, which is a group of subcarriers. This algorithm needs to satisfy two constraints. First, computations for the resource allocation should be done using a frame unit. Second, an ONU has to use a single subchannel to send upstream data for multiple services within a frame duration. We show through a computer simulation that the proposed algorithm improves the link utilization.

  • Objectives: The purpose of the study was to identify a gap between consumer characteristics and utilization of health information on the Internet. Methods: A telephone survey of nationally representative samples was conducted using structured questionnaires, and 1,000 of the 1,189 responses obtained were included in our analysis. The following variables were included in the analysis as potential predictors of health information use on the Internet: predisposing factors such as gender, age, and education status; enabling factors such as region and monthly household income; consumer need for health information; and attitude to health. Multiple logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the association between utilization rate and the potential predictors. Results: Thirty-nine percent of consumers had obtained health information on the Internet over a one-year period. The utilization rates were higher for consumers who were young, educated, worked in the office setting, had higher incomes, wanted health information, and were able to use the Internet. The utilization rate was 5.35 times higher in the younger group (20-30 years) than in the elderly group (95% CI=2.21-12.97); 2.21 times higher for office workers than for manual workers (95% CI=1.16-4.20); 3.61 times higher for college graduates than for middle school graduates and below (95% CI=1.07-11.59); 1.99 times higher for people with monthly household incomes over 3,000,000 won than for those with monthly household incomes below 1,500,000 won (95% CI=1.01-3.92). Conclusions: There needs to be a paradigm shift, with consideration of not only Internet accessibility in the digital age, but also consumer ability and attitudes toward utilization of health information.
