Since the Internet provides a way of expressing and sharing Internet users' mindsets, corporate marketers want to acquire measurable and actionable insights from web data. In the past, companies used to analyze the attitude, satisfaction, and loyalty of consumers toward their brands using survey data, whereas nowadays this is done using the big data extracted from Social Network Services. In this study, we propose a framework for clustering brand names using the social metrics gathered on social media. We also conduct a case study of the automobile industry to verify the feasibility of the proposed framework. We calculate the brand name distance for each pair of brand names based on the total number of times that they are mentioned together. These distances are used to project the brand name onto a 3-dimensional space using multidimensional scaling. After the projection, we found the clusters of brand names and identified the characteristics of each cluster. Furthermore, we concluded this paper with a discussion of the limitations and future directions of this research.
With the advent of digital media environment, distribution way of information changes, legalization of the right to be forgotten is becoming increasingly necessary. However, too much emphasis on protection of personal information to hinder the development of the Internet industry and constitutional rights, including freedom of speech and right to know might be infringed. Thus, the scope of the right to be forgotten there is a need to clarify the rules. First, the rights of personal information can be divided into two. Right to be forgotten can be applied to the right to self-determination of personal information, but the right to self-determination information about social personality cannot be applied to. Second, in the digital media environment, old news article over the internet repeatedly distribution as the new damage is generating. Because old news article is a historical record, the right to be forgotten can not be applied. Thus, appropriate for digital media environment must find new ways.

This thesis is a study of content development utilizing media outlets to date through digital humans. The trend of global content is that the video content industry, including the character business, is growing. Lil Michela, who was selected as one of the 25 most influential people on the Internet by Time magazine in 2018, Nasua, who appeared in a SK Telecom commercial, and Rosie, who appeared in a Shinhan Bank commercial, are representative. Digital humans, which are driving new content, are computer-generated human characters with various characteristics and are referred to as virtual humans, metahumans, and cyber humans. With the rise of the metaverse after COVID-19, digital humans are being utilized in various forms such as media and marketing as an element of visual content. In the form of media, we can see that the boundaries between the offline and digital worlds are converging, and in the form of marketing, we can see that digital humans connect consumers and products more naturally. In the form of interaction, it is possible to achieve two-way communication through various methods of operation, and through these factors, it is possible to go beyond behavioral communication in the form of memorialization to emotional communication through AI technology. What can be seen through these processes is that through the currently developing digital human production methods and AI functions, not only experts but also non-experts can create quality contents, and new directions of contents will appear, and contents that can provide immediate feedback by bringing consumers and creators closer together have been studied.

As Internet traffic surges due to global CPs, a request to share network investment costs has emerged in the industry. This has significantly changed the issue of the principle of network neutrality from accessibility to network fee. Some of the academic researchers had a negative view to network fees in the Internet space. However, in the industry, a number of disputes have occurred and some have escalated into court battles, and attention has been focused on the court's decision. The courts began to accept fee-for-service under network neutrality, and the government responded quickly by revising regulations. However, it still focuses on service stability, and there is no regulation that directly stipulates payment of network fee. In the study, changes in network neutrality were verified by analyzing cases of disputes between operators, court judgments, and improvement of regulations. And referring to the tragedy of the commons, the restoration of the correct price signal based on the principle of beneficiary pays was suggested as the most important solution. The payment of network fee by CP is one of the solutions.

The use of the predictive analytics (PA) powered by the artificial intelligence (AI) is more important in the movie sector during the COVID-19 pandemic, because Hollywood witnessed the impact of the 'Netflix Effect' and began to invest in data and AI. Our purpose is to discover a few cases of the AI centered PA in the movie industry value chain based on five objectives of PA: Compete, grow, enforce, improve, and satisfy. Even if movie companies' interest is to predict future success for competing with over-the-tops (OTTs) at a first glance, it is observed, once they start to use the PA with the AI, they try to utilize the enhanced PA platforms for remaining four objectives. As a result, ScriptBook, Vault, Pilot, Cinelytic and Merlin Video (Merlin) are use cases for the objective 'compete.' Movio of Vista Group International and Datorama of Salesforce are use cases for the objective 'grow.' Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) and Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media (GDI) with Disney are use cases for the objective 'enforce.' Watson, Benjamin, and Greenlight Essential are use cases for the objective 'improve.' Disney Research (DR) with Simon Fraser University and California Institute of Technology is the use case for the objective 'satisfy.'

The importance of international co-production that enables content production, diversification of overseas markets, and diversification has been highlighted as demand for content has soared due to intensifying competition between media outlets, while contents provision has become easier due to changes in media environment such as convergence of broadcasting and communication and the spread of mobile Internet. In particular, the boom in Korean dramas, called the Korean Wave in China, opened up a new market after "My Love from the Star" in 2014, and in 2016, Netflix's entry into Korea served as an opportunity for local broadcasters and producers to seek international co-production. In addition, "Good Doctor" which was aired on American Broadcasting Co. (ABC) in 2017, has topped the same time slot for the first time in 29 years, and is set to air season 4 this fall. Accordingly, overseas broadcasters and production companies wanted to collaborate with domestic broadcasters and producers, and since 2011, they have conducted a total of 12 co-produced dramas until 2019. Unfortunately, however, there are few studies related to international co-production dramas in the domestic industry and academia. In this paper, we present to help Korea, which used to be a powerhouse in complete export-type content, move toward becoming a powerhouse in international co-produced dramas. In addition, it is meaningful that the research focused on the current status and achievements of international co-production dramas, which have not been studied much, and the diversity of international co-production dramas in the future through the analysis of the form and structure of international co-production.

This study examines the concept of public interests in pay TV industry and analyzed the regulatory framework of the industry. The concept of public interests such as diversity, localism and quality which are mainly discussed in the context of over the air broadcasting extends to universal access, fair competition and consumer protection as pay TV industry grows. However, there is a lack of concrete implementation of public interests in regulatory framework and coordination of public and industrial interests was not accomplished. Major policy that regulates the pay TV industry carries out without big picture. Policy implementation without long term plan results in hierarchical regulation model and it produced consistency problem. In the process of implementing policy in pay TV industry public interests and industrial interests discussion is mixed and sometimes it played exaggerated role.

We have been studying the next generation of video creation solution based on TVML (TV program Making Language) technology. TVML is a well-known scripting language for computer animation and a TVML Player interprets the script to create video content using real-time 3DCG and synthesized voices. TVML has a long history proposed back in 1996 by NHK, however, the only available Player has been the one made by NHK for years. We have developed a new TVML Player from scratch and named it T2V (Text-To-Vision) Player. Due to the development from scratch, the code is compact, light and fast, and extendable and portable. Moreover, the new T2V Player performs not only a playback of TVML script but also a Text-To-Vision conversion from input written in XML format or just a mere plane text to videos by using 'Text-filter' that can be added as a plug-in of the Player. We plan to make it public as freeware from early 2009 in order to stimulate User-Generated-Content and a various kinds of services running on the Internet and media industry. We think that our T2V Player would be a key technology for upcoming new movement.

From the perspectives of regulation and convergence, several debates on the industrial definition of smart TV service in the Korean broadcasting and communications market are currently in progress. The most heated controversy mainly depends on whether smart TV is controlled under broadcasting regulations or under communications regulations. This Korean- specific problem is summarized in regulation fairness or asymmetric regulations between smart TV and IPTV operators. Although both operators utilize very similar technology and share the same business model, the regulations for only smart TV operators are unfettered. This would be an intrinsic cause that prohibits fair competition in the new converging market. Currently we confront the matter of asymmetric regulations between smart TV and others including IPTV or ISP. The purpose of this study, thus, is to provide the strategic, regulatory guidance and theoretical definitions on smart TV service, as one of converging services, based on a qualitative approach through subjectivity methodology. The study identifies three issues net neutrality, regulation fairness and new media and new market and proposes desirable promotion plans regarding those issues. The study draws lessons learned through a Korean smart TV case and provides directions to strategic-policy studies for future emergent converging services.

The Internet of Things (IoT) and Visible Light Communication (VLC) is opening up new services in lighting industry by integrating sensory network features in addition to standard illumination functionality. In this progressive developments, the next generation lighting devices for smart homes are capable to sense the environmental conditions and transfer the captured data through lights to gateway controller to access remotely. The smart home environmental sensor information's are few kbps only so VLC systems need to built-in with low rate light connectivity to transfer data to the gateway. To provide error free communication, the quality of a received light signal is important to be considered when designing an VLC receiver. Therefore, this paper proposes the design of robust low rate IoL receiver design using NCP302 voltage detector for micro controller to adapt the IoT/IoL front end module for system integration. To evaluate the proposed system performance, the Arduino UNO based IoT/IoL controller designed with lighting, sensors and lights connectivity interfaces. The experimental result shows that the robust interference rejection is feasible on proposed VOL receiver and possible to have an error-free communication up to 10 kbps at a low SNR using OOK modulation.
