  • The purpose of this research is to summarize the methodological issues in internet survey and to suggest personalized internet survey system using data mining technique for enhancing the survey quality of internet survey as well as utilizing the benefit of interactive multimedia factors of internet survey. The data mining technique used in this paper is Case Based Reasoning for adopting individual design preference affecting survey quality. For achieving the research purpose, two surveys, pre & post survey, were performed. Pre survey was done for implementing CBR database to find individual index affecting survey quality and post survey was used for measuring the peformance of personalized internet survey system. The result shows that the survey quality of personalized web survey system is better than generalized web survey system.

  • There is an increasing need to use mobile Internet as a research tool as wireless technology has been developing rapidly. However, little research has been conducted to confirm methodological validity of mobile Internet survey. This study examines the possibility of using mobile Internet as a survey tool by comparing survey results of mobile and stationary Internet surveys with the same questionnaire. The results were analyzed from both economic and theoretical perspectives. Both mobile and stationary Internet survey sites were implemented with supports from domestic mobile and stationary Internet portals and telecommunication companies. The results show that there exist several differences between two survey methods. First, many respondents who use mobile Internet gave up at the early stage. However, once people continued to respond, they answered the questions to the end. Second, means and standard deviations of mobile internet respondents were higher than that of stationary Internet. Third, the results of two survey methods were significantly different by comparing construct validity that includes both discriminant validity and convergent validity. Finally, this paper ends with implications and limitations of using mobile Internet as a survey tool.

  • The internet survey is more time and cost efficient than the off-line survey. We design and implement a web-based questionnaire generating system for the internet survey. The system guides users to make up a questionnaire step by step. It also generates data code for the statistical packages such as SPSS and SAS when the internet survey has been done.

  • The advantage of internet survey compared to the traditional survey methods are speedy in data collection, cost-effective, high performed design and able to data process and analysis at the same time. The other side are difficult to select sample, come from serious nonresponse errors. We suggest the new internet survey method to the questionnaire design that have the high response rate, enough to advanced preparations and system stability.

  • The population of internet users are rapidly increasing and the interest of the internet survey is also increasing. Recent years has seen a transition from traditional modes of data collection into internet survey. Some surveys are administered with mixed modes of traditional data collection methods and internet survey, and some surveys are conducted through internet only instead of traditional modes, such as telephone survey, postal survey, face-to-face interviews and so on. However, one of most crucial parts of a survey is the reliability of the collected data and internet survey is no exemption. Changwon National University has been annually conducting a survey of new students and transfer students with almost same contents of questionnaire. The survey is a longitudinal survey and it had been administered by paper-pencil surveys until 2009. In 2010 the survey was administered through internet. Every students has to login with student ID number and the last 7-digit of national identity registration number, and complete the 2010 survey before registration their courses. If they leave any question without being answered, then could not move to the registration site for courses. This study explores the distortion of responses using the new students survey of Changwon National University, which could occur when the survey responses are not confidential. We find that the distortion of responses occurs from the questions with social desirability pressure, pressure of winning favor with the researcher, and pressure of explaining their situations. There are no distortion of responses from the questions which are describing simple opinions or simple facts, for example, the place they plan to live while in school.

  • Since early 1960s, when the telephone survey was used in the research area for he first tie, there has been existed various methods to gather the information by survey. The existing survey methodology called PAPI(Paper-And-Pen Interveiw), due to the appearance of Personal Computer, might well be developed progressively. Mid-1980s, Internet was advanced remarkably in terms of technology. from early 1990s, in addition it served as a stepping-stone for progressive collecting method. Internet Survey is now called WWW Survey and expected that it will substitute for most surveys from now on. We explain the role and the characteristics for Internet Survey as one of he various data collecting methods. Furthermore, we draw the futures about questionnaires, data collecting and statistical analysis with it.

  • The object of study is to verify the accuracy of internet survey by comparing database data and internet survey. Internet survey was conducted on August, 2012. Respondents were subscribers of KISTI NDSL. Variables were age, organization as demographic variables, number of use, and period of use as attitude variables. Mismatch rates of age, organization, number of use, and period, are 7.5%, 5%, 92%, and 55% respectively. We could estimate the mismatch rate for age as 3% as a pessimistic point of view, and 1% as an optimistic point of view by detail verification. The mismatch rates of organization are 4.5% as a pessimistic point of view, and 2% as an optimistic point of view. The mismatch rates for the frequency of use, the period of use are very high, because measurement error, problems in memory, and internet attitude, etc. Implication of this study is that data of internet survey could be reliable. Many further researches are needed for verification of internet survey.

  • Though an internet survey, an alternative method for the off-line survey, has various merits is, it still has some problems such as sampling bias and low reliability from insincerity during survey. Especially the exogenous variables such as sample respondents of the environment should be controlled to make internet survey trustworthy. This study attempts to design and implement such system that can help researchers to control the network and sampling environment and behaviors on respondents. Thru the various Question forms and structured Questionnaire design, this study tries to contribute the improvement of survey satisfaction and the reliability for survey result in internet survey system.

  • In this paper, we suggest and implement an internet survey system cooperating the randomized response technique(RRT). We compare it with the direct survey. RRT is an indirect survey method to get true information from the respondent who is conceived to have sensitive character without revealing his/her status. We implement our system(method) based a data-base system, so it common all kind of data obtained through internet surveys. This system also can be used in spot survey independently.

  • With the increase of using internet in business, the gathering of customer information with real time process is emphasized more and more. This paper summarized the several characteristics of internet survey as a tool of gathering information of customer, and did empirical test for the effect of the design of cyber shopping mall on the customer's buying decision using internet survey. The survey result shows that the customer's buying decision in cyber shopping mall is affected by design factors such as multimedia and consistent framework of homepage. The survey also shows that as the intention of using cyber shopping mall is high, the more preference for navigation aid, and as the internet experience is long, the less preference for the animation and too much using of graphics.
