  • Domestic buildings account for 25% of national greenhouse gas emissions and 20% of energy consumption, so energy efficiency improvement of buildings is recognized as the main target of national energy demand management. To improve the energy efficiency of the building, policies are implemented by preparing "zero-energy building national roadmaps" and enhancing the efficiency of national energy demand management through early activation as a result of expansion of the mandatory zero-energy building. Also, there is a growing need to verify the performance of energy savings after the construction is completed. Therefore, methods for evaluating energy performance of buildings should be suggested. This paper aims to develop and present methods for verifying energy performance of Zero Energy School, which can be applied internationally, by visiting domestic schools on-site at the same time as international standards and guidance analysis.

  • As the weapon system's dependence on software functions increased, software became a key factor in controlling the weapon system. In addition, as software development becomes more important domestically and internationally, software verification becomes an issue. The recent defense market has recognized this point and is demanding a plan for weapon system software maintenance. In this paper, we propose a weapon system software maintenance plan using Automatic Test Equipment. The specific method is to use a simulator to check the software function and identify failure cases. This is an effective way for developers to reduce the Total Corrective Maintenance Time(TCM) of the weapon system by reducing the time it takes to identify failure cases. It has been proven that the proposed Automatic Test Equipment can achieve software maintenance and excellent Maintainability and Operational Availability compared to the existing ones.

  • Clothing, as a signsystem, implies many different meanings according to different circumstances. Korean fashion designers' designs also imply various meanings. Therefore, the purpose of this study is the exploration of Korean fashion designers' design characteristics through Greimas' Semiotic Square. As sublimity is the most representative characteristic of modern fashion design, this study discusses the in-depth aesthetic meaning innated in Korean fashion design through the semiotic square proposed by Greimas. To fulfill this goal, Korean fashion designers were sought after on the internet; consequently, four Korean designers became subjects for the analysis. Their collections were analyzed according to predefined criteria adopted and modified from previous studies. Sublimity characteristics were applied to Greimas' and Floch's semiotic squares for further interpretation. Results of the study indicate that sublimity, which is typically found in Korean fashion designs, varies depending on different points of view. In terms of culture, this study discovered a relationship of contrariety between sublimity and beauty. This finding opposes the theory of Greimas' semiotic square, in which sublimity stands as a contradictory of the technician. According to the culture industry theory, suggested by Held, the technician is an implication of sublimity. Through a technician, sublimity may pose as a complementarity or implication of beauty. Finally, sublimity might substitute beauty as well; furthermore, it constitutes practical valorization in the semiotic square of Floch. Moreover, the artist present as a ludic valorization stands as a contradictory, while art, serving as a utopian valorization, enacts as a contrary.

  • In this paper, we analyze the influence of indirect lightning strikes based on the structure of shielded cables used in an aircraft and propose a cable structure to enhance shielding effectiveness. Cables in an aircraft account for the largest proportion among components and play a crucial role in connecting aircraft frames and electronic devices; thus, making them highly influential. In particular, indirect lightning strike noise can lead to malfunctions and cause damage in aircraft electronic equipment, making the utilization of shielded cables essential for mitigating damage caused by indirect lightning strike noise. We conducted an analysis of the impact of indirect lightning strikes on aircraft shielded cables considering factors, such as the presence of shielding layers, core, and insulation in the cable structure. Furthermore, we validated our findings through simulations and experiments by applying the internationally recognized standard for indirect lightning, RTCA DO-160G Sec. 22.

  • Hydrogen is a renewable energy source with various characteristics such as clean, carbon-free and high-energy, and is internationally recognized as a "future energy". With the rapid development of the hydrogen energy industry, more hydrogen infrastructure is needed to meet the demand for hydrogen. However, hydrogen infrastructure accidents have been occurring frequently, hindering the development of the hydrogen industry. HyRAM+, developed by Sandia National Laboratories, is a software toolkit that integrates data and methods related to hydrogen safety assessments for various storage applications, including hydrogen refueling stations. HyRAM+'s physics mode simulates hydrogen leak results depending on the hydrogen refueling station components, graphing gas plume dispersion, jet frame temperature and trajectory, and radiative heat flux. In this paper, hydrogen leakage data was extracted from a hydrogen refueling station in Samcheok, Gangwon-do, using HyRAM+ software. A hydrogen leakage simulator was developed using data extracted from HyRAM+. It was implemented as a dashboard that shows the data generated by the simulator using a database and Grafana.

  • The time of examination of buyer in international sales contract is very significant, because the time is related with the period of claim in buyer's aspect. From the legal point of view, the time of delivery, the time of examination and the time of quality decision should be in accord. But the buyer, whose main place of business is located in importing country, wants to examine the goods in his own country. Therefore in CIF or FOB Contract, the place of delivery and the place of examination are divided. Thus the CISG, the Common Law System and the Civil Law System including Korean Law stipulate the buyer's examination at the destination if the sales contract involves carriage of the goods. This author, from the buyer's perspective, would like to make the following suggestions in regard to the time of examination when the sales contract is made. First, the time of examination and the time of quality decision should be in accord, even though the time of delivery is different. Second, the buyer should clearly indicate the time, the place, the inspector, the particulars and the burden of proof in regard to examination when contracting. Third, the buyer should also clearly indicate the period of notice for the lack of conformity in Claim Clause of sales contract, which should be counted from the time of examination. Fourth, the buyer should remember that he many lose the right to rely on the lack of conformity of the goods if he does not give the seller notice thereof within the stipulated time or reasonable time. Finally, if the buyer wants, to examine the goods at the place of shipment, it is desirable for the buyer to designate internationally recognized inspection organization like SGS.

  • Fraunhofer was founded in 1949 and grew into Europe's largest application-oriented research organization. Fraunhofer currently employs over 20,000 members in Germany, is internationally networked, and manages an R&D budget of over 1,8 Billion Euros per year. An important step for Fraunhofer to become an integral component of the German innovation system was the introduction of the Fraunhofer Model of financing based on a performance-related system of financial management. The underlying model of the allocation and distribution of public funding to Fraunhofer that is subsequently allotted to specific research groups is one of the success factors of Fraunhofer. Fraunhofer is proud of its decentralized organizational model. Fraunhofer is comprised of 60 Institutes in Germany working in different fields, under one legal framework, and with a strong brand value. Every Fraunhofer Institute is affiliated with a German University and every institute director simultaneously holds a chair at the affiliated university. It is a challenge for the headquarter organization to balance the intended competition of individual Fraunhofer Institutes with complementarity cooperation in science among Fraunhofer-Institutes, especially when coming from different knowledge domains; however, this goal results in a significant advantage. The unique strengths of Fraunhofer offer system solutions in a world with increasingly complex R&D challenges. While growing to become the largest organization on Europe to focus on applied research it is the challenge to remain an agile organization that is flexible in organizational structure. Fraunhofer has reached a well-recognized position in the European innovation landscape. It is often referred to by science and governments as a role model for innovation policy and a key element of the latest successes in the German economy that has recovered quicker from the latest economic crisis than most other western economies. The paper explains Fraunhofer as an organizational paradigm and its underlying management model to elaborate on the challenges of managing a research organization. We wish to show how it is possible to transfer the management model and philosophy of Fraunhofer to innovation systems with different framework conditions and challenges. A universal conclusion may be drawn based on the description of Fraunhofer; however, changes in existing structures and innovation systems cannot be implemented over night.
