  • Mobile users want to be provided with undisrupted network services when they navigate on the Next-Generation (NG) wireless networks. For that, interlocking with a heterogeneous network is important, but there have been few studies on the method for guaranteeing global mobility. Thus, this paper proposes the Proxy-LMA technique, the mobile IP-based global inter-networking system, to enhance global mobility and interoperability within the Next-Generation (NG) network environment. The purpose of the proposed Proxy-LMA system is to expand the boundary of the mobility with regards to the existing mobility management protocol (PMIPv6 and MIPv6) in order to guarantee global mobility and interoperability within the heterogeneous network environment. The results of the performance evaluation showed that the proposed Proxy-LMA system was more efficient than other methods from the standpoint of signaling cost and delay in the heterogeneous network environment.

  • The standardization for Seamless IP Mobility between heterogeneous networks is being progressed according to each specific purpose of the organizations such as ITU-T (International Telecommunications Union - Telecommunication), 3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project), IETF(Internet Engineering Task Force), and IEEE(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). [1] Specially VCC (Voice Call Continuity) for seamless voice continuity between heterogeneous networks using IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) of the next generation platform is being introduced into a few companies, and also MIH (Media Independent Handover) and MIP (Mobile IP) for IP mobility between heterogeneous networks are being customized by their internal situation. This article describes the idea to support IP Mobility between heterogeneous networks in the network which IMS platform is deployed and only supports the mobility for the voice by the type of AS (Application Server).

  • Nowadays, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have been widely adopted in structural health monitoring (SHM) systems for social overhead capital (SOC) public infrastructures. Structural health information, environmental disturbances and sudden changes of weather conditions, damage detections, and external load quantizing are among the capabilities required of SHM systems. These information requires an efficient transmission with which an efficient mobility management support for wireless networks can provide. This paper deals with the analysis of mobility management schemes in order to address the real-time requirement of data traffic delivery for critical SHM information. The host-based and network-based mobility management protocols have been identified and the advantages of network mobility (NEMO) enabled Proxy Mobile Internet Protocol version 6 (PMIPv6) have been leveraged in order to address the SHM information transmission needs. The scheme allows an efficient information transmission as it improves the handover performance due to shortened handover latency as well as reduced signaling overhead.

  • This study aims to reveal the impact of continuous antagonist strengthening(CAS) and Evjenth-Hamberg stretching(EHS) on the cervical mobility in the university students with abnormal transformation of forward head posture(FHP). Our experiment was conducted 3 times a week for 6 weeks in a total of 20 individuals : continuous antagonist strengthening(CAS) group(n=10) & Evjenth-Hamberg stretching(EHS) group(n=10). In a pre and post comparison, both CAS group and EHS group appeared significantly in mSBI and SBA(p<.05) and the two-group comparison showed a significant difference(p<.05) : CAS group showed better effects. Thus, it is considered that the combined use with continuous antagonist strengthening(CAS) had better effects for cervical mobility than Evjenth-Hamberg stretching(EHS) alone.

  • This study developed seven assumptions to demonstrate the effect of personal innovation, social influences, service quality, mobility and accessibility on perceived usability, perceived convenience use and use intention using a technology acceptance model developed by Davis(1989), and the results are presented as follows: First, the assumption that personal innovation and service quality of mobile banking service will influence the perceived usability was adopted while the assumption that social influences will affect the perceived usability was rejected. Second, the assumption that mobility and accessibility of mobile banking services will influence the perceived convenient use was selected. Third, the assumption that the perceived usability of mobile banking service will influence use intention was rejected while the assumption that the convenient use will influence use intention was adopted. This study suggests that as personal innovation, service quality, mobility and accessibility have a significant influence on use of mobile banking, service providers should pay more attention to development of security programs and diversification of contents.

  • The various sectors of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) have been addressing the evolution of thirdgeneration and future wireless systems in the context of a comprehensive International Mobile Telecommunications 2000 (IMT-2000) project, and within the ITU’s Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) a Special Study Group on “IMT-2000 and Beyond” has been established to address the network aspects of these emerging wireless systems. The Special Study Group (SSG) is playing a global role in this general area, in which a number of regional standards development organizations and a variety of industry forums are also active. This paper provides background information on the SSG and describes the SSG’s ongoing work addressing medium-term issues relating to convergence of fixed and mobile systems and the harmonization of evolving IMT-2000 systems. The paper also addresses related mobility management aspects.

  • As industrialized countries transition into knowledge economies, there is a rising demand for talent and innovation. Support for start-ups through incubation, acceleration, and venture capital has turned into a key area of investment, with public and private actors searching for the next unicorn. This article examines start-up visas as an emerging policy tool in the global competition for highly innovative entrepreneurs. The study builds on a sample of eight national start-up immigration programs and applies human-capital citizenship (Ellermann, 2020) as a guiding framework. The article first proposes a conceptualization of start-up visas, suggesting that innovation and entrepreneurship also be considered in the theorization of skills. Second, the study examines the implications of start-up visas for international mobility. By focusing on the logic of entry requirements and subsequent benefits accrued through the status as a start-up founder, the findings of this study highlight the role of start-up visas in expanding privileged pathways to cross-border mobility. The article concludes with a discussion of implications for policy and research concerned with the international mobility of start-ups

  • IP-based Wireless Sensor Networks (IP-WSNs) are gaining importance for their broad range of applications in health care, home automation, environmental monitoring, industrial control, vehicle telematics, and agricultural monitoring. In all these applications, a fundamental issue is the mobility in the sensor network, particularly with regards to energy efficiency. Because of the energy inefficiency of network-based mobility management protocols, they can be supported via IP-WSNs. In this paper, we propose a network-based mobility-supported IP-WSN protocol called mSFP, or the mSFP: "Multicasting-supported Inter-Domain Mobility Management Scheme in Sensor-based Fast Proxy Mobile IPv6 Networks". Based on [8,20], we present its network architecture and evaluate its performance by considering the signaling and mobility cost. Our analysis shows that the proposed scheme reduces the signaling cost, total cost, and mobility cost. With respect to the number of IP-WSN nodes, the proposed scheme reduces the signaling cost by 7% and the total cost by 3%. With respect to the number of hops, the proposed scheme reduces the signaling cost by 6.9%, the total cost by 2.5%, and the mobility cost by 1.5%. With respect to the number of IP-WSN nodes, the proposed scheme reduces the mobility cost by 1.6%.

  • The present paper gives a review of the recent development of a differential mobility analyzer (DMA) available for both particle size measurements and production of monodisperse particles in the nanometer range. Operating principles of a general DMA are introduced as well as characteristics of highly functional DMAs such as those capable of classifying particles in a measurement range as broad as 1-1000nm at low pressures. Some examples of DMA applications are also described.

  • Currently, urban mobility is rather two-dimensional: Connections between transportation solutions like elevators, escalators, moving walks, and metro stations are static. In the future, urban mobility will require a holistic view: Seamless transportation, enabled by innovative IoT technology, is a necessity. A dialogue between the city, its buildings and transportation systems, considering the specific needs and preferences of each and every citizen, must be adopted. Travelling through the city will become a lot more individualized, interactive and customized to specific requirements.
