  • The international collaboration on marine biodiversity increases in the proportion of the world's scientific papers produced with more than one international author, 2006-2010. The number of scientific papers from 2006 to 2010 describing "marine new species (or spec. nov., n. sp.)" published 401 (international ranking : $13^{th}$) by S. Korea, 824 ($7^{th}$) by China, 1,249($5^{th}$) by Japan, 1,282($3^{rd}$) by Austrailia, and 3,679 ($1^{st}$) by United States. The papers having an international co-authorship account for 52.0% by S. Korea, 79.0% by China, 67.0% by Japan, 81.0% by Australia at the same period. The proportion of national publication output produced in collaboration with other countries differs proportionately between countries. In S. Korea, the overall numbers of international collaboration were not growing significantly. Both in Japan and China, an overall numbers of international collaboration increased well in accordance with the proportion of national output with international collaboration.

  • This study analyzed the volatility spillover effect between international non-ferrous metal futures markets using the BEKK-GARCH model. Statistical data are futures price data of copper (CU), aluminum (AL), nickel (NI), tin (SN) from Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) and London Metal Exchange (LME) from April 1, 2015 to December 31, 2021. Combining the research results, first, in the case of copper, aluminum, and nickel, it was found that there was a two-way volatility spillover effect between the Shanghai and London markets, and the international influence of the London market was greater. Second, in the case of the tin, it was found that the Shanghai market has a volatility spillover effect on the London market from stage I, and it is strengthened in stage II. Third, in the case of nickel, it was found that there was a two-way volatility spillover effect in the first stage, but in the second stage, the London market had a unidirectional volatility spillover effect with respect to the Shanghai market. This study confirmed that China's influence in the international non-ferrous metal futures market is gradually increasing. In addition, it suggested that international investors can engage in arbitrage and hedging using China's non-ferrous metal futures market.

  • This study sees the past, present and future of the international carbon market. It is expected that it is not until 2020 and beyond before the international carbon market is settled by international consensus, and it is too early to picture the international carbon market at this point. Instead, this study focuses on analyzing the content of Article 6 of the Paris Convention, being fully aware of the uncertainties surrounding the international carbon market and can only be a step in determining the future of the international carbon market. In the future, the international negotiations will be under fierce competition of countries, each of which aims to make their advantageous system or mechanism recognized internationally Therefore, it is necessary for Korea to devise a system that can maximize the national interest and try to be recognized in the international society. To accomplish this, the following tasks are required at the present stage. First, we need to include the basic directions for the reduction using the international carbon market in the preparation of the roadmap for GHG reduction in Korea. Based on the directions presented in the roadmap for reducing GHG emissions, Korea should set up a government-wide plan on the international carbon market. In addition, a long-term TF should be formed to enact such plans in the international community. The international carbon market is an issue that several professional fields overlap, and it is indeed difficult to pursue by a single ministry. Therefore, it is necessary to create and strengthen the TF that can cope immediately with the international movement.

  • As the activities of global enterprises have become more globalized and the labor movement among nations has increased, many studies have been carried out on the effective adjustment of expatriate managers. By examining the literature over the past 30 years on the adjustment of expatriate managers, this study identified major research trends and presented future research directions. While prior studies have often been cumbersome, time-consuming, and dependent on the researchers' subjective judgments, this study performs a bibliometric analysis using quantitative and visualized reference materials to provide a map showing the evolution process of existing research on the adjustment of expatriates. Using the CiteSpace program, this study conducted a bibliometric analysis of 517 papers focusing on major research trends, research countries, research institutions, authors, and journals. Study results found that the study of international adjustment was mainly focused on self-directed senders, attribution adaptations, and personal characteristics. The United States, Britain, and Australia were the most represented countries, while the most influential institutions included Aarhus University, the University of Wisconsin, and Hong Kong Baptist University. As one of the leading researchers, Selmer of Orhuss University published 19 papers, followed by Luring of Orhuss University. The Journal of International Business Studies (JIBs) most frequently featured studies of overseas expatriate adjustment.

  • In the past 20 years, passenger and cargo transportation performance at the international passenger ports in Korea have increased by 8.6% on the compound annual growth rate, respectively. The Korean government had expected to continue expanding the market of car ferries and the government included plans for the development of additional routes and lanes with neighboring countries such as China, J apan, and Russia as a part of the Plan of the Korean Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in 2019. However, compared to the development of routes, the management and operation of passenger terminals are inefficient. The purpose of this paper was to introduce the overall improvement of the passenger terminal operating system that reflects the recent changes in the supply and demand of international passenger vessels and the needs of the government and private sector passengers. To this end, a basic survey was conducted on the status of operations and facilities at the Busan International P assenger Terminal and a questionnaire survey was administered on the subject of use. The results of the survey were analyzed using the IPA model. As a result of the analysis, three items in the operation sector, three items in the facility sector, and four items in the system sector of the Busan International Passenger Terminal were identified as in need of improvement. Based on the results, the need for investment to improve the international passenger terminal operating system is suggested.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze articles published in the Journal of the Korean Academy of Nursing (JKAN) between 2010 and 2019, along with those published in three international nursing journals, to improve JKAN's international reputation. Methods: The overall characteristics of JKAN's published papers and keywords, study participants, types of nursing interventions and dependent variables, citations, and cited journals were analyzed. Additionally, the keywords and study designs, publication-related characteristics, journal impact factors (JIF), and Eigenfactor scores of International Journal of Nursing Studies (IJNS), International Nursing Review (INR), Nursing & Health Sciences (NHS), and JKAN were analyzed and compared. Results: Among the four journals, JKAN's score was the lowest in both the journal impact factor and Eigenfactor score. In particular, while the JIF of INR and NHS has been continuously increasing; JKAN's JIF has remained static for almost 10 years. The journals which had cited JKAN and those which JKAN had cited were mainly published in Korean. Conclusion: JKAN still has a low IF and a low ranking among Social Citation Index (E) journals during the past 10 years, as compared to that of four international journals. To enhance JKAN's status as an international journal, it is necessary to consider publishing it in English and to continuously improve the conditions of other publications.

  • A dynamic-thermodynamic sea ice model with 50-km spatial and 24-hour temporal resolution is used to investigate the spatial and long-term temporal variability of the sea ice cover the Arctic Basin. The model satisfactorily reproduces the averaged main characteristics of the sea ice and the sea ice extent in the Arctic Basin and its decrease in early 1990th. At times model allows to suppose partial recovery of sea ice cover in the last years of twenty century. The employment of explicit form for description of ridging gives opportunity to assume that the observed thinning is the result of reduction the intensity of ridging processes and to estimate long-term variability of probability the ridge free navigation in the different parts of the Arctic Ocean including the North Sea Route area.

  • Wavelet transform (WT) has attracted most engineers and scientists because of its excellent properties. The coherence of practical approach and a theoretical basis not only solves currently important problems, but also gives the potential of formulating and solving completely new problems. It has been show that multi-resolution analysis of Wavelet transforms is good solution in speech analysis and threshold of wavelet coefficients has near optimal noise reduction property for many classes of signals. This paper proposed applications of wavelet in speech processing: pitch detection, voice-unvoice (V -UV) decision, denoising with the detailed algorithms and results.
