The purpose of this study was to verify the stability of environmental disposition through analyzing the short term effect of the 'Interior Design History' course on students environmental dispositions, especially their interior image preferences toward traditional/modern, female/masculine, and simple/complex characteristics. The pre-test post-test control group experimental design was used. The independent variable was the experience of the Interior Design History course, and the dependent variable was environmental disposition measured by IIPS(Interior Image Preference Scale). The measurements were done at both beginning and end of fall semester, 1997. Subjects were using 71 undergraduate students of Drafting course (control group) and 35 undergraduate students of Interior Design History course (experimental group) at Y University. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and F-test through ANOCOVA. This research revealed no effect of the Interior Design History course on students interior environmental dispositions. The stability of those environmental dispositions and also the validity of the IIPS were proved.

The purposes of this study were to identify styles of contemporary interior design, construct their images, and find out the relation of the identified styles to the structure images. Content analysis was used as the main method of this study, and the focus of the analysis was on a typological approach. Two hundred interior design photos were drawn from five different interior design magazines published in the past ten years, and ,they were analyzed by interior design professionals. Contemporary interior design was classified into ten styles: romantic, ethnic, classical, high tech, elegant, country, modern, minimal, natural, and causal. Given the ten styles, five images of interior design were identified - simple, comfortable, rustic, classical, and delightful. With regard to the relationships between 10 styles and 5 images of interior design, the this study found that the romantic style was related to the images of rustic and classical, the ethnic style to the images of comfortable, classical, and delightful, the classical style to the image of classical, the high tech style to the images of classical and rustic, the elegant style to the images of simple and classical, the country style to the images of comfortable and rustic, the modern style to the images of simple and delightful, the minimal style to the image of comfortable, the natural style to the images of comfortable and delightful, and the causal style to the images of comfortable and delightful.

Design trend, transparency, which has been developed under a reflection of current periodic environment, has been exposed to people all over the world through varieties of architecture facade and interior space. As interior space follows this trend, which has difference in showing space from the past, transparency becomes an important measure of showing openness of certain space. Main objective of this research is to understand a characteristics of materials that leads transparency a important measure to the modern interior design, and this will set the range to this applicable materials for appropriate areas of defining transparency in an interior. Characteristic uses of transparent materials found in this research which leads transparency into interior space are described below: First, there are two perspectives in transparency. One is visibility and material wised transparency and the other is conditional and spacial wised transparency. With this knowledge, we can expand a level of transparency with ideas such as clarity, opacity, visible transmission, and reflection, and this broadened range will vary the acceptable materials used to show transparency. Second, transparent materials are used with many different purposes in modern interior space as furnitures, sanitary fixtures, partitions, and other structures. With using modern technology in reforming this materials brought new methods in structure composing. last, transparent materials' expnt pable characteristics made modern interior space to have a control over spacial homogeneity, a simplified octlines, weakened boundaries, and compositional effects by interference and vision.

This paper is an outgrowth of many years of practicing real interior work projects and one of my responses to the question not only about the actual dimension of interior work surface but also about the classification of contemporary finishing materials in basic interior project of high-rise apartment houses. For this purpose, 8 conventional apartment units which are already-built or designed have been surveyed and the results are interpreted in the form of proportion of space and finishes. The data can be applied to make up a schematic design in the selection of environment-friendly interior works and assessment of the degree of sustainability. For further study, the basic data provided here can be used as an index to differentiate the occupants' desire toward green interior design for their own apartment spaces, comparing to the conventional interior work in the Korean market. Not surprisingly, wall paper is dominated to make the interior surface in apartment houses. In the percentile of the utilization of finishing materials, wood-flooring and coating materials like wet paint also ranked at the upper position.

Through the increasing of social economies and cultural activities, the Food service industry have been growing up steadily in spite of low economic activity. Therefore, This Study aim object at probing into the characteristic of Interior finishing material and then analysing the characteristics of space and material according to the typical distribution. In the Interior planning of Restaurant, firstly it is need to probe the Characteristics of interior finishing material at the basic element. This study is going to apprehend the constitution of space and difference of proportion or a point of sameness in the characteristics of material. Moreover, the recent importance of Interior finishing materials by means of fire in the Restaurant, legal fractional multiple use business establishment are recognized of publicity. Throughout probe and analysing, it can append more efficiency and elasticity in the usage of interior finishing material.

Many schedule delays and cost overruns in interior construction are caused by a lack of understanding in detailed and complicated interior works. To minimize these potential impacts in interior construction, a systematic approach for project managers to detect discrepancies at early stages and take corrective action through use of visualized data is required. This systematic implementation is still challenging: monitoring is time-consuming due to the significant amount of as-built data that needs to be collected and evaluated; and current interior construction progress reports have visual limitations in providing spatial context and in representing the complexities of interior components. To overcome these issues, this research focuses on visualization and computer vision techniques representing interior construction progress with photographs. The as-planned 3D models and as-built photographs are visualized in a 3D walk-through model. Within such an environment, the as-built interior construction elements are detected through computer vision techniques to automatically extract the progress data linked with Building Information Modeling (BIM). This allows a comparison between the as-planned model and as-built elements to be used for the representation of interior construction progress by superimposing over a 3D environment. This paper presents the process of representing and detecting interior construction components and the results for an ongoing construction project. This paper discusses implementation and future potential enhancement of these techniques in construction.

As the environmental paradigm is the major issue today, the guideline of the ecological design in the interior architectural field is needed. One on the knowledge necessary to plan the ecological interior architecture as a designer is the spectification related factors for planning, which should be applied in materialistic matters. In this paper, the knowledge of materials and products needed to design interior space considering the ecological factors is studied. And, a guideline for the eco-design is investigated for the expression of the environmentally friendly perception.

Holography provides a medium for creative visual experiences in space and scale. It has been firmly established as a tool for scientific and engineering studies. It could be creatively used in interior architecture and display as a practical device and as a form of art. Basic principles and features of holography are explained. Design of the holographic systems are illustrated in some interior architectural applications. It is believed that holographic elements can make a valuable contribution to interior architecture design by controlling light and creating new concepts of colour and space.

Speed-up and mass reduction of EMU(Electrical multiple unit) causes increase of interior noise. One of the best ways to reduce the interior noise is to identify noise sources. In this study, we evaluated interior noise by contribution analysis. This method is to predict the interior noise contribution of carbody by using transfer function between acceleration and sound pressure. The plan of the interior noise reduction based on the test results was also presented.
