Survey of Acoustic Frequency Use for Underwater Acoustic Cognitive Technology

  • The available underwater acoustic spectrum is limited. Therefore, it is imperative to avoid frequency interference from overlapping frequencies of underwater acoustic equipment (UAE) for the co-existence of the UAE. Cognitive technology that senses idle spectrum and actively avoids frequency interference is an efficient method to facilitate the collision-free operation of multiple UAE with overlapping frequencies. Cognitive technology is adopted to identify the frequency usage of UAE to apply cognitive technology. To this end, we investigated two principle underwater acoustic sources: UAE and marine animals. The UAE is classified into five types: underwater acoustic modem, acoustic positioning system, multi-beam echo-sounder, side-scan sonar, and sub-bottom profiler. We analyzed the parameters of the frequency band, directivity, range, and depth, which play a critical role in the design of underwater acoustic cognitive technology. Moreover, the frequency band of several marine species was also examined. The mid-frequency band from 10 - 40 kHz was found to be the busiest. Lastly, this study provides useful insights into the design of underwater acoustic cognitive technologies, where it is essential to avoid interference among the UAE in this mid-frequency band.

  • The swept volume, the region of a moving object, is applied in many fields such as valid paths for motions of tools, visualization in robot paths and interference tests for parts assembling or disjointing. The shape of a swept volume depends on an generators computed with normal vectors of an object and velocity vectors of a motion. Although free-from surfaces are widely used to represent geometric models in CAD, computing the generators for a free-form object is a formidable task. Previous approaches exploit the closed form expressions of generators but limited to planer or quadric faces. In this paper, we propose the algorithm to compute swept volumes generated by free-form objects in screw motions. For the algorithm a tracing method is applied to the computation of generators. It considers curvatures of surfaces of an object to increase the computational accuracy. We implemented our algorithm in the CATIA V.5 environment to test the validity of our algorithm and to generate examples.

3 축 CNC 를 이용한 5 축 자유곡면 가공 (Five-Axis Machining with Three-Axis CNC Machine)

  • One of the most distinguished advantages of five-axis machining is that complex free surfaces(such as impeller) can be machined by one setup. Five-axis CNC machine, however, is very expensive so that its usage is restricted to a few large companies. As an economical approach to five-axis machining, this paper presents a method for machining the five-axis free surfaces(using ball-end mill) on a three-axis CNC machine with an index table. The method developed consists of: a) determining the minimum number of part setups and their interference-free and collision-free potential machining area, b) calculating actual machining area for each setup, and c) generating 3-axis cutter path for each part setup. The method has been successfully tested via computer simulations for several complex surfaces including impeller.

  • Collision-free 전송(傳送) 가능성과 2차 다중(多重) 접속 간섭(干涉)의 영향면에서 다중(多重) 캡쳐 수신기(受信機)를 사용한 단일확산(單一擴散)코드 방식의 성능(性能)이 송신기별(送信機別)(T/O) 코드분할 다중(多重)접속(CDMA) 방식(方式)의 성능(性能)과 비교(比較)된다. 성능비교(性能比較)를 위해, 단일(單一)코드 방식(方式)과 완전한 collision-free 전송(傳送)을 보장하는 T/O CDMA 방식(方式)에 대해 다중(多重)접속 간섭(干涉)의 특징이 서술(敍述)된다. 백색(白色) 가우시안 잡음(雜音)하에서 직접(直接)시퀀스 차동(差動) 위상(位相)편이키잉 데이터 변조(變調)와 forward 에러정정부호화(訂正符號化)를 (BCH 코드) 사용한 위의 두방식(方式)에 대해 throughput 성능(性能)이 평가(評價)된다. 라디오의 수(數)가 비교적 많은 경우에, 적당한 신호대(信號對) 잡음화(SNR)에서 단일(單一)코드 방식(方式)이 T/O CDMA방식보다 최대(最大) throughput을 증가(增加)시킬 수 있음을 확인(確認)하였다.

폴리아닐린과 그 혼합물의 전자기파 차폐특성 (Electromagnetic Shielding Characteristics of Polyaniline and Its Mixtures)

  • Polyaniline(EB)/NMP 용액에 carbonblack, grahpite Ag를 첨가하여 우수한 막질의 free standing film을 제조하였다. 1 mole HCI로 도핑된 polyaniline(ES) free standing film($\sigma$=5 S/cm, t=0.14 mm)을 제조하여 10 MHz~1 GHz의 주파수 영역에서 전자기파 차폐효과를 측정한 결과 23~25 dB의 차폐효율을 나타내었으며, carbonblack, grahpite, AG을 첨가하여 제조한 ES free standing film 과 camphorsulfonic acid(CSA)를 도핑한 polyaniline film의 전자기파 차폐효율 측정결과 각각 30~34dB, 36~42dB, 44~52dB, 34~43dB로 ES free standing film 보다 우수한 특성을 나타내었다.

Numerical Investigation on Overlap Effects of Tandem Rotors in Forward Flight

  • A study on the interference effects of overlapping tandem rotors in forward flight is conducted using the time-marching free-wake panel method which adopts field velocity boundary integral formulation. The conventional boundary integral formulation is numerically unstable for the cases when the blade and the wake are in close proximity to each other. In order to avoid this problem, this study applies the field velocity method and modifies the boundary integration formulation. The improved method is used for the parametric study on the advance ratio and the distance between the rotors. These are the parameters that most affect the interference of the tandem rotor in forward flight. Comparison of the aerodynamic performance shows that the horizontal distance between the rotors negligibly influences the overlap-induced power factor for high advance ratio. In addition, it shows that the overlap-induced power factor is inversely proportional to the squared vertical distance between the rotors, and that the overlap-induced power factor increases to a certain extent and decrease back as the advance ratio increases.

  • The development in the field of the internet of things (IoT) have improved the quality of the life and also strengthened different areas in the society. All cities across the world are seeking to become smarter. The creation of a smart parking system is the essential use case in smart cities. In recent couple of years, the number of vehicles has increased significantly. As a result, it is critical to make the use of technology that enables hassle-free parking in both public and private spaces. In conventional parking systems, drivers are not able to find free parking space. Conventional systems requires more human interference in a parking lots. To manage these circumstances there is an intense need of IoT enabled parking solution that includes the well defined architecture that will contain the following components such as smart sensors, communication agreement and software solution. For implementing such a smart parking system in this paper we proposed a design of smart parking system and also compare it with convetional system. The proposed design utilizes sensors based on IoT and Data Mining techniques to handle real time management of the parking system. IoT enabled smart parking solution minimizes the human interference and also saves energy, money and time.

Numerical investigation on the wave interferences of submerged bodies operating near the free surface

  • A key factor that governs the wave interferences of a submerged body is the dimensionless Froude number. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is used to describe the resistance force coefficients and the generated waves of two SUBOFF submarine models. Grid independence studies are performed on two cases, totally and shallowly submerged cases, with four sets of computing meshes. The highest peaks are marked by red points at given wavelengths, a line is fitted to those points with a least-squares approximation, and the half wake angle at multiple Froude numbers is defined between the fitted line and the centerline of the free surface. The results show that when the depth of the target is 1.1D, constructive interferences occur at Fn = 0.3 and 0.5, while destructive interference occurs at Fn = 0.35 with distortion of the waveform. The half wake angle is less than 19.47° because of the interference between the bow and stern wave systems.

전진 비행하는 탠덤로터의 간섭효과에 대한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Investigation on Interference Effects of Tandem Rotor in Forward Flight)

  • 본 논문에서는 전진 비행하는 탠덤로터의 로터 겹침에 의한 간섭효과에 대해 연구하였다. 기 개발된 시간전진 자유후류 모델이 고려된 비정상 패널 코드는 후류와 깃(blade)이 아주 근접한 경우에 불안정성이 발생하였다. 이를 제거하기 위해서 장속도기법을 적용하여 코드를 개선하였다. 개선된 코드를 이용하여 전진 비행하는 탠덤로터의 상호작용에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 인자인 로터 간격과 전진비에 따른 파라메타 연구를 수행하였다. 공력성능의 비교를 통해 겹침유도동력계수는 일정한 전진비 이후에는 로터 사이의 수평 거리의 영향은 거의 받지 않으며, 수직 거리의 제곱에 반비례하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 전진비가 증가함에 따라 겹침유도동력계수는 증가하다가 감소하는 경향을 보였다.

  • M2M 통신은 기기간 자율적인 네트워크 구성 및 정보 전달을 통해 사물, 차량, 사람의 상태 등을 파악하는 유비쿼터스 환경 구축의 핵심 기술로 인식되고 있다. 특히 M2M 기술 구축을 위해 사용되는 무선 센서 네트워크에 대해 수집되는 데이터의 신뢰성 확보를 위한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 이러한 신뢰성 문제는 센서네트워크를 통해 지연에 민감한 멀티미디어 정보가 전송됨에 따라 그 중요성이 크게 부각되었다. 이러한 통신 신뢰성에 가장 큰 영향을 끼치는 것이 센서 노드 간 간섭 문제이며, 더욱이 멀티 홉 환경에서는 이러한 통신 간섭 문제로 인한 성능 저하가 급격하게 발생하는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 패킷 지연 성능 향상을 위하여 멀티 홉 환경에서 센서 노드 간의 간섭 범위를 고려하여 간섭 회피 경로를 설정하는 다중 경로 라우팅 프로토콜을 제안한다. 제안 알고리즘의 성능 평가를 위해 모의실험을 수행하였고, 그 결과 기존 무선 센서 네트워크의 라우팅 알고리즘에 비해 패킷 지연 및 전송률 성능 측면에서 우수함을 입증할 수 있었다.
