  • In this paper, a two-dimensional (2-D) channel code for magnetic patterned media is proposed. Patterned media records an information bit on a magnetized dot. Since the space between adjacent tracks is narrow in order to increase the storage density, inter-track interference (ITI) and inter-symbol interference (ISI) can be problems. The amplitude of a bit signal can be corrupted by the 2-D ISI. The signal of the bit surrounded by the same value can be especially destructive, i.e. when its value is the same as the values of the eight surrounding bits. The proposed modulation coding scheme improves the decoding performance of patterned media by preventing this worst case and provides a better code rate than conventional channel codes.

  • In this paper, we propose a new scheduling scheme to reduce the complexity and overhead in TDD uplink cellular networks. In a TDD network, users can estimate the interference causing to neighboring BSs by measuring the signals transmitted from them. In the existing max SGIR scheduling scheme, each user calculates SGIR and feeds back to BS. Then, the BS selects a user having the largest SGIR value to transmit data. This scheme has a problem that as the number of BSs increases, the number of interference channels to be measured by the users increases, and thus the hardware and algorithm complexity of the user increases. We propose a max SmGIR (Signal-to-max generating interference ratio) scheduling scheme that can reduce the user complexity by predicting the SGIR value based on only the largest interference information. According to computer simulations, the proposed scheme has similar performance to the existing max SGIR scheme despite this low complexity.

  • Due to the low utilization and scarcity of frequency spectrum in current spectrum allocation methodology, cognitive radio networks (CRNs) have been proposed as a promising method to solve the problem, of which spectrum sensing is an important technology to utilize the precious spectrum resources. In order to protect the primary user from being interfered, most of the related works focus only on the restriction of the missed detection probability, which may causes over-protection of the primary user. Thus the interference probability is defined and the interference-aware sensing model is introduced in this paper. The interference-aware sensing model takes the spatial conditions into consideration, and can further improve the network performance with good spectrum reuse opportunity. Meanwhile, as so many fading factors affect the spectrum channel, errors are inevitably exist in the reporting channel in cooperative sensing, which is improper to be ignored. Motivated by the above, in this paper, we study the throughput tradeoff for interference-aware cognitive radio networks over imperfect reporting channel. For the cooperative spectrum sensing, the K-out-of-N fusion rule is used. By jointly optimizing the sensing time and the parameter K value, the maximum throughput can be achieved. Theoretical analysis is given to prove the feasibility of the optimization and computer simulations also shows that the maximum throughput can be achieved when the sensing time and the parameter of K value are both optimized.

  • In this paper, we apply a discrete wavelet packet transform (DWPT) to reduce the influence of interference in global positioning system (GPS) signals and compare the interference mitigation performance of various wavelets. By applying DWPT to the received signal, we can gradually divide the received signal band into low-pass and high-pass bands. After calculating the average power for the separate bands, we can determine whether there is interference by comparing the value with the given threshold. For a band that includes interference, we can reconstruct the whole band signal using inverse DWPT (IDWPT) after applying a nulling method that sets all of the wavelet coefficients to 0. The reconstructed signals are correlated with the pseudorandom noise (PRN) codes to acquire GPS signals. The performance evaluation is based on the number of satellite signals whose peak ratio (defined as the ratio of the first and second correlation peak values in the acquisition stage) exceeds the threshold. In this paper, we compare and evaluate the performance of 6 wavelets including Haar, Daubechies, Symlets, Coiflets, Biorthogonal Splines, and Discrete Meyer.

  • This paper presents a new interference cancellation method to remove the oscillation due to feedback signal of RF relay. In this paper, we estimate the feedback signal using to LMS(Least Mean Square) algorithm and remove the interference through attenuation signal arbitrary corresponding to feedback signal. From the various performance analysis for various doppler effects, a proposed method prevents from oscillation using -30dB attenuation signal as a cancellation value of feedback signal.

  • In this article, we proposed a new interference canceller using the adaptive algorithm. We designed constant modulus algorithm-correlation normailized least mean square (CMA-CNLMS) for wireless system. This structure is normalized LMS algorithm using correlation between the desired and input signal for cancelling the interference signals in the wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) system. We showed that the proposed algorithm could improve the Mean Square Error (MSE) performance of LMS algorithm. MATLAB (Matrix Laboratory) is employed to analyze the proposed algorithm and to compare it with the experimental results. The MSE value of the LMS with mu=0.0001 was measured as - 12.5 dB, and that of the proposed algorithm was -19.5 dB which showed an improvement of 7dB.

  • Interference from IEEE 802.11a systems affects ultra-wideband (UWB) systems significantly. In this letter, we suggest a novel narrow-band interference (NBI) suppression technique based on the singular value decomposition (SVD) algorithm in time-hopping pulse amplitude modulation (TH-PAM) UWB systems. The SVD algorithm is used to approximate the interference which then is subtracted from the received signals. In contrast to the conventional notch filter and rake receiver, our method is more effective and the receiver complexity can be greatly reduced.

  • In general, turbine blades are usually machined on 5-axis NC machine. The 5-axis machining of sculptured surface offers many advantages over 3-axis machining including the faster material-removal rates and an improved surface finish. But it is difficult and time-consuming to generated interference-free 5-axis tool path. This paper describes research on the algorithm for generation of an interference-free 5-axis NC data for machining turbine blades. The approach, using the section profile derived from the intersection of cutting planes with a triangulated-surface approximation, includes (1) CL-data generation by detecting an interference-free heel angle (2) the calculation method for finding a adaptive feed-rate value, and (3) the inverse kinematics depending on the structure of 5-axis machine.

  • This paper deals with the measurement theory and technique of linear expansion coefficient for solid material using Michelson interferometer. The Michelson interferometer produces interference fringes by splitting a beam of monochromatic light so that one beam strikes a fixed mirror and the other a movable mirror. When the reflected beams are brought back together, an interference pattern results. Precise distance measurements until a quarter of wave length can be made with the Michelson interferometer by moving the mirror and counting the interference fringes which move by a photo diode. This paper represents the application of Michelson interferometer for measuring infinitesimal length system and shows the measurement method of linear expansion coefficients for various materials like copper, aluminum and iron. the results are good agreement with theoretical value within margin of error for each materials.
