  • Recently, a rate-2, $2{\times}2$ space-time code with simple ML decoding has been designed. Though the simple ML decoding algorithm does reduce the ML decoding complexity, there is still need for improvement. In this paper, we propose an efficient decoding algorithm for the rate-2, $2{\times}2$ space-time code using interference cancellation techniques with performance virtually identical to that of ML decoding. Also, the decoding complexity of the proposed algorithm is significantly reduced compared to the conventional simple ML decoding, especially for large modulation orders.

  • Most recent research on iterative solutions for interference alignment (IA) presents solutions assuming channel reciprocity based on the suppression of interference from undesired sources by using an appropriate decoding matrix also known as a receiver combining matrix for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) interference channel networks and reciprocal networks. In this paper, we present an alternative solution for IA by designing precoding and decoding matrices based on the concept of signal leakage (the measure of signal power that leaks to unintended users) on each transmit side. We propose an iterative algorithm for an IA solution based on maximization of the signal-to-leakage-and-noise ratio (SLNR) of the transmitted signal from each transmitter. In order to make an algorithm removing the requirement of channel reciprocity, we deploy maximization of the signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio (SINR) in the design of the decoding matrices. We show through simulation that minimizing the leakage in each transmission can help achieve enhanced performance in terms of aggregate sum capacity in the system.

  • In this paper, an adaptive interference canceller (AIC) Is applied to the space-time coded DS-CDMA system in fading channels with arrival time difference from multiple transmit antennas In a CDMA system, arrival time difference causes not only inter-antenna and Inter-symbol interference but also multiple-access Interference even in a downlink. To mitigate the effect of the Interferences an AIC and ML decoding joint scheme Is proposed fur a space-time coded DS-CDMA system in which an adaptation process of tile AIC is merged in the Viterbi decoding algorithm. The performance of the proposed receiver is evaluated for the system with two transmit antennas. It is shown that the proposed receiver achieves significant performance improvement over the ML decoding receiver without the AIC

  • This paper proposes a new interference mitigation scheme for device-to-device (D2D) communications underlaying a cellular network. The object of the proposed scheme is to determine the number of data streams, a precoding matrix, and a decoding matrix of D2D networks so as to maximize the system capacity given the number of data streams of a cellular network while satisfying the constraint of the inter-system interference from D2D networks to the cellular network. Unlike existing interference mitigation schemes based on the interference alignment technique, the proposed scheme operates properly regardless of the number of data streams of a cellular network and moreover it does not require changing the precoding and decoding matrices of a cellular network. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme significantly increases the system capacity by mitigating the intra- and inter-system interference.

  • This paper presents "The 3-User NOR switching channel based on interference decoding with receiver cooperation" in succession to "Jeju Jong Nang channel code I, II". The Jeju Jong Nang code is considered as one of the earliest human binary coded communication (HBCC) in the world with a definite "1" or "0" binary symbolic analysis of switching circuits. In this paper, we introduce a practical example of interference decoding with receiver cooperation based on the three user Jong Nang NOR switching channel. The proposed system models are the three user Jong Nang (TUJN) NOR logic switching on-off, three-user injective deterministic NOR switching channel and Gaussian interference channel (GIC) with receiver cooperation. Therefore, this model is well matched to Shannon binary symmetric and erasure channel capacity. We show the applications of three-user Gaussian interference decoding to obtain deterministic channels which means each receiver cooperation helps to adjacent others in order to increase degree of freedom. Thus, the optimal sum rate of interference mitigation through adjacent receiver cooperation achieves 7 bits.

  • In this paper, we address the problem of designing multirate codes for a multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) system by restricting the receiver to be a successive decoding and interference cancellation type, when each of the antennas is encoded independently. Furthermore, it is assumed that the receiver knows the instantaneous fading channel states but the transmitter does not have access to them. It is well known that, in theory, minimummean- square error (MMSE) based successive decoding of multiple access (in multi-user communications) and MIMO channels achieves the total channel capacity. However, for this scheme to perform optimally, the optimal rates of each antenna (per-antenna rates) must be known at the transmitter. We show that the optimal per-antenna rates at the transmitter can be estimated using only the statistical characteristics of the MIMO channel in time-varying Rayleigh MIMO channel environments. Based on the results, multirate codes are designed using punctured turbo codes for a horizontal codedMIMOsystem. Simulation results show performances within about one to two dBs of MIMO channel capacity.

  • Problems encountered in IEEE 802.11 medium access control (MAC) design are interferences from neighboring or hidden nodes and collision from simultaneous transmissions within the same contention floors. This paper presents the selective decoding schemes in MAC protocol for multiple input multiple output ad-hoc networks. It is able to mitigate interferences by using a developed minimum mean-squared error technique. This interference mitigation combined with the maximum likelihood decoding schemes for the Alamouti coding enables the receiver to decode and differentiate the desired data streams from co-channel data streams. As a result, it allows a pair of simultaneous transmissions to the same or different nodes which yields the network utilization increase. Moreover, the presented three decoding schemes and time line operations are optimally selected corresponding to the transmission demand of neighboring nodes to avoid collision. The selection is determined by the number of request to send (RTS) packets and the type of clear to send packets. Both theoretical channel capacity and simulation results show that the proposed selective decoding scheme MAC protocol outperforms the mitigation interference using multiple antennas and the parallel RTS processing protocols for the cases of (1) single data stream and (2) two independent data streams which are simultaneously transmitted by two independent transmitters.

  • Quasi-Orthogonal STBC (QO-STBC) scheme is proposed conventionally achieving approximate full rate and full diversity in more than 3 transmit antenna and open-loop environmen.. But, conventional QO-STBC has disadvantage that performance degradation by interference terms of detection matrix and high decoding complexity. Recently, this interference cancellation scheme of low decoding complexity by multiplying specific rotation matrix is proposed. We propose more general interference cancellation scheme by using EVD(Eigenvalue Decompostion).

  • This paper presents a method that can be used to reduce the decoding computational complexity in turbo codes. To reduce the decoding complexity we proposed an adaptive sliding window method which control the learning period of Viterbi sliding window method depending on channel signal to interference ratio (SIR). When received signal to interference ratio (SIR) is relatively high, we can reduce the decoding complexity without a noticeable degradation of BER performance at CDMA cellular system with power control error.
