  • Industrial HMI(Human Machine Interface) system is the main element among the factory automation processes and have been used to monitor and control operation and status of machine in factory with PLC. This HMI often brings heavy loads to the system development and difficult decreasing the system because it tends to use a specific system per each manufacturer. Therefore, in this thesis, we have developed an embedded linux-based embedded industrial HMI software modules which can be used for touch panel embedded system to solve these problem. In this module, we have used the Qt/Embedded software component because it can be used by all systems which support C++ compiler without modifying the existing codes. We can design more flexible system and network configuration because we have used the wireless communication module. In this thesis, we implement linux-based HMI software modules which are capable of wireless communication as well as bringing the mobility to the overall system and finally decreasing the system development loads by using the general purpose OS with competitive price.

  • The mixed mode problem (I and II) of a peny-shaped interface cracks in remote tension loading on a bi-material cylinder is studied using finite element method. The energy release rates for the tip of the crack in the interface were calibrated for several different moduli combinations and crack ratios using the modified crack closure integral technique and J-integral method, with numerical results obtained from a commercial finite element program. Numerical results show that non-dimensional value of$\sqrt{G_{II}E^*}/\sqrt[p]{\pi a}$ increases as the crack size or moduli ratio increases. Meanwhile, non-dimensional value of$\sqrt{G_{I}E^*}/\sqrt[p]{\pi a}$ decreases as the moduli ratio increases, but above the moduli ratio of 3 its value decreases then increases again as the crack size increases. Reliability of the numerical analysis in this study was acquired with comparison to an analytical solution for the peny-shaped interface crack in an infinite medium.

  • STATEMENT OF PROBLEM. Implant drivers are getting popular in clinical dentistry. Unlike to implant systems with external hex connection, implant drivers directly engage the implant/abutment interface. The deformation of the implant/abutment interface can be introduced while placing an implant with its implant driver in clinical situations. PURPOSE. This study evaluated the change of rotational freedom between an implant and its abutment after application of different insertion torques. MATERIAL AND METHODS. Three kinds of internal connection implants were utilized for the current study($4.5{\times}12\;mm$ Xive, $4.3{\times}11.5\;mm$ Inplant Magicgrip, $4.3{\times}12\;mm$ Implantium MF). An EstheticBase, a 2-piece top, a Dual abutment was used for its corresponding implant system. The rotational freedom between an implant and its abutment were measured before and after applying 45, 100 Ncm insertion torque. Repeated measures ANOVA was used for statistical analysis. RESULTS. Under 45 Ncm insertion torque, the rotational freedom between an implant and its abutment was significantly increased in Xive(P = .003). However, no significant change was noted in Inplant Magicgrip and Implantium MF. Under 100 Ncm torque, both in Xive(P = .0005) and Implatium MF(P = .03) resulted in significantly increased rotational freedom between the implant and its abutment. DISCUSSION. The design of the implant/implant driver interface effectively prevented the deformation of implant/abutment interface. Little change was noted in the rotational freedom between an implant and its abutment, even though the insertion torque was far beyond clinical application. CONCLUSIONS. The implant/abutment joint of internally connecting implants were quite stable under insertion torque in clinical situation.

  • PC cluster-based Information Retrieval (IR) systems improve their performances by parallel processing of query terms using cluster nodes. However TCP/IP based communication used to exchange data between cluster nodes prevents the performance from being improved further. The user-level communication mechanisms solve the problem by eliminating the time-consuming kernel access in exchanging data between cluster nodes. The Virtual Interface Architecture (VIA) is one of the representative user-level communication mechanisms which provide low latency and high bandwidth. In this paper, we propose a VIA-based parallel IR system on a PC cluster. The IR system is implemented using the following three communication methods: Sealable Coherent Interface (SCI) based VIA, MPI on SCI based VIA, MPI on Fast Ethernet based VIA. Through experiments, the performances of the three methods are analyzed in various aspects.

  • Interface technologies for a user to control home automation system in wearable computing environment has been studied recently. This paper proposes a new interface method for a disabled person to control home automation system in wearable computing environment by using EOG sensing circuit and marker recognition. In the proposed interface method, the operations of a home network device are represented with human readable markers and displayed around the device. A user wearing a HMD, a video camera, and a computer selects the desired operation by seeing the markers and selecting one of them with eye movement from the HMD display The requested operation is executed by sending the control command for the selected marker to the home network control device. By using the EOG sensing circuit and the marker recognition system a user having problem with moving hands and fit can manipulate a home automation system with only eye movement.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the problems of the rapidly increasing voice interface and to find out what results will be obtained when the new gesture interaction is applied to the product, and to suggest the improvement method for a better user experience. Through the literature review, I have conducted a theoretical review on the changes in the product interface used in the product and the difference between them, and then conducted in-depth interviews on the 20-30 users who used voice recognition as a product trigger. As a result, it was concluded that the decline in the reliability of accuracy leads to a decrease in the preference of voice recognition interactions and an needs of appropriate interface for the functional aspect of non-relavancy in physical distance as a product trigger. This study is meaningful in that it has found a problem with the study of the product trigger interface and suggested improvement measures, and hope to be helpful in follow-up study.

  • With the development of advanced industries, research on image processing hardware is essential, and timing verification at the gate level is required for actual chip operation. For FPGA-based verification, DDR3 memory interface was previously applied. But recently, as the FPGA specification has improved, DDR4 memory is used. In this case, when a previously used memory interface is applied, the timing mismatch of signals may occur and thus cannot be used. This is due to the difference in performance between CPU and memory. In this paper, the problem is solved through state optimization of the existing interface system FSM. In this process, data read speed is doubled through AXI Data Width modification. For actual case analysis, ZC706 using DDR3 memory and ZCU106 using DDR4 memory among Xilinx's SoC boards are used.

  • Virtual reality seems to be the center of the next generation platform, which is founded on various engines that can easily make device progress and content. However, the interaction between virtual reality contents and users is thought of as relatively requiring technological advances. In this paper, we propose a technique to improve the interaction technique based on the case of Virtual Figure Model Crafting (VFMC) to analyze the problem of interaction caused by virtual reality contents. We introduced the concept of Head-Up Display (HUD) to present a more natural interaction method. The HUD is the digital visual interface of the aircraft. The advantage of HUD visual interface is to minimizes the user's visual movement by displaying the information of the scattered view to the forward direction of the pilot. In other words, we can reduce unnecessary left and right movements that make it is possible to expect an effect of reducing fatigue and increasing immersion.
