  • This paper considers the problem of stabilizing a composite system formed by interconnecting a number of single-input single-output linear continuous systems. The problem is general in the sense that in addition to the standard assumption about the uncertainty of the subsystems, the strength of interconnections is assumed unknown. A method to design a local adaptive feedback control is first presented, and then the resultant closed-loop system is assured to be globally stable. Also, a numerical example is illustrated via computer simulation.

  • Acceleration in integration density and speed performance of ULSI circuits require miniaturization of CMOS and interconnections as well as higher current density capabilities for transistors. A leading candidate to substitute A1-alloy is Cu, which has lower resistivity and higher melting point. So we can expect much higher electromigration resistance. In this paper, we are going to explain the major features of EM for MOCVD Cu according to variant conditions. We compared the life time and activation energy of MOCVD Cu with those of E-beam Cu and Al in The same conditions.

  • In this paper, a new adaptive learning algorithm, Training by Adaptive Gain (TAG) for optical implementation of large-sized neural networks has been developed and its electro-optical implementation for 2-dimensional input and output neurons has been demostrated. The 4-dimensional global fixed interconnections and 2-dimensional adaptive gain-controls are implemented by multi-facet computer generated holograms and LCTV spatial light modulators, respectively. When the input signals pass through optical system to the output classifying layer, the TAG adaptive learning algorithm is implemented by a personal computer. The system classifies three 5$\times$5 input patterns correctly.

  • In this paper self tuning control of interconnected systems are dealt in view point of large scale system control. The plant model is given in multiple ARMA process. This process is simplified as independent SISO ARMA process having offset terms. This offset was considered as effects of interconnections. In each decentralized system, self tuning controller with instrumental variable method is adopted. As a result, this algorithm enables the parameter estimation to be unbiased and non-drift. This controller contains a new implicit offset rejection technique. Simulation results considers well with the analysis in case of linear interconnection.

  • Memory management is one of the most important problems in implementing viterbi decoders. This paper introduces a novel traceback scheme for memory management of high-speed viterbi decoders. The new method balances the read and the write oeprations by inserting dummy write operations into the traceback process, resulting in simpler memory access schemes. It is suitable for VLSI implementation since it uses minimal memory requirements, it does not need global interconnections, and its address genration shceme for accessig memory contents is very simple.

  • This paper presents a new high-level synthesizer for ASIC designs using ASIC library or FPGAs. DAMUL defines the VHDL description for a specified hardware and allocate some VHDL codes, which describe the behavioral specification, to the corresponding hardware before the synthesis. The interconnections are implemented by the multiplexers, and the objective of allocation is the minimization of the number of multiplexers. Also, the dedicated registers is used for global variables, in order to implement the other necessary registers as well as status and control registers. The effectiveness of the proposed system is shown by the synthesis results of benchmark circuits.

  • Interconnection network is to provide communication among functional modules. The interconnections considered are Generalized Cube networks. Two situations are examined: a memory module is equally likely to be addressed by a processor and a processor has a favorite memory. This paper proposes the effective condition of operation in interconnection network through performance evaluation by simulation.

  • It is demonstrated that the conventional current-pulse laser drivers are not adequate in driving VCSELs operating at multi-Gb/s speeds. Simulation results, including the bonding parasitics, show that high-performance VCSELs are more efficiently driven using voltage-pulse mode of operation. The optical output power is almost doubled in the voltage-mode of operation, while the total electrical power consumption of the transmitter decreases by 20%.

  • This paper describes the synthesis of robust decentralized controllers for uncertain large-scale discrete-time systems with time-delays in subsystem interconnections. Based on the Lyapunov method, a sufficient condition for robust stability, is derived in terms of a linear matrix inequality(LMI). The solutions of the LMI can be easily obtained using various efficient convex optimization techniques. A numerical example is given to illustrate the proposed method.
