협력주행 서비스를 위한 차량통신시스템 성능 분석 (Performance of Inter Vehicle Communication System for Cooperative Driving Service)

  • ITS services are quickly evolving due to the convergence of ICT technologies. WAVE technology based on IEEE802.11p specification has been introduced for the high speed vehicle communication and applied into the transportation system for driving safety and convenience. Recently, WAVE technology as a inter vehicle communication is used for cooperative driving application. In this paper, the implemented inter vehicle communication system is introduced and suggested as a solution for V2X communication. The performance of the implemented inter vehicle communication system is tested and analyzed under various conditions.

  • This study considers the implementation issues of the inter-vehicle communication system for the vehicle platoon experiments via a testbed. The testbed, which consists of three scale vehicles and one RCS(remote control station), is developed as a tool for functions evaluation between simulation studies and full-sized vehicle researches in the previous study. The cooperative communication of the vehicle-to-vehicle or the vehicle-to-roadside plays a key role for keeping the relative spacing of vehicles small in a vehicle platoon. The static platoon control, where the number of vehicles remains constant, is sufficient for the information to be transmitted in the suitably fixed interval, while the dynamic platoon control such as merge or split requires more flexible network architecture for the dynamical coordination of the communication sequence. In this study, the wireless communication device and the reliable protocol of the flexible network architecture are implemented for our testbed, using the low-cost, ISM band transceiver and the 8-bit microcontroller.

영상 기반의 차량 검출 및 차간 거리 추정 방법 (Vision-based Vehicle Detection and Inter-Vehicle Distance Estimation)

  • 본 논문에서는 영상 센서를 이용한 강인한 차량 검출 및 차간거리 추정 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 차량 검출 알고리즘은 차량의 가장 큰 특징인 차량 하단의 그림자부분과 차량의 뒷바퀴 부분을 추출하기 위해 Haar-like 특징들과 차량 뒷부분의 방향성 에지특징을 동시에 활용하기 때문에 더욱 강인한 차량 검출 효과가 있다. 차량의 그림자에 해당하는 Haar-like 특징에 추가적인 방향성 에지특징은 차량이 아닌 부분을 잘못 검출하는 오검출률(false-positive error)을 현격히 줄이는 효과가 있고, 차량 추적기법을 통해 전체적인 수행 속도를 크게 개선한다. 그리고 차간거리 추정 알고리즘에서는 먼저 영상에 나타난 차량의 위치를 통해 추정하는 방법과 차량의 폭을 이용한 두 방법의 장단점을 분석한 후, 차량의 위치를 이용하는 방법이 가지고 있는 문제점과 차량의 폭을 이용한 방법의 단점을 극복하면서, 차간거리의 정확도를 높일 수 있는 개선된 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 차량 검출 및 차간거리 추정 알고리즘의 효용성을 입증하기 위해 다양한 실험영상들을 통해 그 효과를 입증한다.

  • Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) cause link disconnection problems due to the rapid speed and the frequent moving direction change of vehicles. Link disconnection in vehicle-to-vehicle communication is an important issue that must be solved because it decreases the reliability of packet forwarding. From the characteristics of VANETs, greedy forwarding protocols using the position information based on the inter-vehicle distance have gained attention. However, greedy forwarding protocols do not perform well in the urban environment where the direction of the vehicle changes greatly. It is because greedy forwarding protocols select the neighbor vehicle that is closest to the destination vehicle as the next transmission vehicle. In this paper, we propose a greedy anycast forwarding (GAF) protocol to improve the reliability of the inter-vehicle communication. The proposed GAF protocol combines the greedy forwarding scheme and the anycast forwarding method. Simulation results show that the GAF protocol can provide a better packet delivery rate than existing greedy forwarding protocols.

  • CRL (Communications Research Laboratory, Independent Administrative Institution, Japan) is developing ITS wireless communication technologies in millimeter-wave frequency region. Technologies are categorized for inter-vehicle communications (IVC) and road-vehicle communications (RVC). In this paper, system concepts and the experimental facilities are introduced. The experimental facility for inter-vehicle communications is gotten ready in 60 GHz frequency region and the experimental system for road-vehicle communications is based on RoF (Radio on Fiber) technology in 36-37GHz frequency region.

An Air-Interface for Ad Hoc Networks Supporting High Mobility

  • In this paper, a novel air-interface is presented for Fleet-Net1, a self-organizing network for inter-vehicle and vehicle-toroadsidecommunication. The air-interface is based upon the lowchip-rate version of UMTS/TDD. To adapt the cellular UMTS standard to an air-interface for ad hoc networks, changes of the physical layer, medium access control sub-layer and radio resource management are required. An overview of the required modifications is given here. Particularly, a decentralized synchronization mechanism is presented and analyzed by means of simulations. Furthermore, changes for the medium access control are explained in detail, which allow for an efficient operation in partly meshed networks and prioritization. Performance results of the overall system considering throughput and delay are derived by means of analytical evaluations and event-driven simulations. Based on realistic mobility models, it is shown that the presented solution provides a robust communication platform even in vehicular environments. The proposed air-interface is a cost-effective solution not only for inter-vehicle communication, but also for ad hoc networking in general, benefiting from the mass-market of UMTS.

  • 도로 기반 시설의 도움 없이 지능형 교통 시스템을 실현하기 위한 차량 간 통신(Inter-Vehicle Communication)에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 차량 간 통신은 고정된 인프라 없이 차량간에 실시간 정보를 교환할 수 있게 해준다. 차량 간 통신 시스템은 정보를 전송하기 위해 멀티 홉 브로드캐스트 방식을 사용한다. 본 논문에서는 차량 간 통신을 위한 위치 정보 기반의 AODV 라우팅 프로토콜을 제안한다. 제안하는 AODV 라우팅 프로토콜은 위치 정보를 갖는 Hello 패킷을 전송하여 노드간 거리를 계산한다. 그런 다음 각 노드의 거리테이블을 이용하여 신속한 경로 복구를 수행한다. 제안하는 AODV 라우팅 프로토콜의 성능은 퀄넷(Qualnet) 버전 3.8 시뮬레이터를 사용하여 기존의 AODV 라우팅 프로토콜과 비교하였다.

자동차 안전운전 보조 시스템에 응용할 수 있는 카메라 캘리브레이션 방법 (Camera Calibration Method for an Automotive Safety Driving System)

  • This paper presents a camera calibration method in order to estimate the lane detection and inter-vehicle distance estimation system for an automotive safety driving system. In order to implement the lane detection and vision-based inter-vehicle distance estimation to the embedded navigations or black box systems, it is necessary to consider the computation time and algorithm complexity. The process of camera calibration estimates the horizon, the position of the car's hood and the lane width for extraction of region of interest (ROI) from input image sequences. The precision of the calibration method is very important to the lane detection and inter-vehicle distance estimation. The proposed calibration method consists of three main steps: 1) horizon area determination; 2) estimation of the car's hood area; and 3) estimation of initial lane width. Various experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In an Intelligent Transport System(ITS), data dissemination based on inter-vehicle communication is effective for acquiring real-time traffic-jam information. In this paper, we propose a novel method for traffic jam information dissemination in vehicular ad-hoc networks. In our proposed method, vehicles already trapped in a Traffic-Jam elect leaders according to their locations from upstream and downstream respectively. Then each leader generates traffic data which contains their position, velocity and leader counter respectively, and disseminate the information. {{br}}The implementation of our proposed method is evaluated by means of simulation, and we also present simulation result

  • 본 논문에서는 60GHz대의 밀리미터파 대역에서 강우감쇠와 산소흡수의 영향을 고려하여 근거리 차량간 통신(Inter-Vehicle Communication) 채널을 3가지로 모델링하고 첨단차량도로시스템(AVHS)의 최종 목표인 플래툰 주행에 적합한 1-경로 Rician 모델에서 DS/CDMA 통신 시스템의 BER 성능을 분석하였다. 또한 60GHz에서 지연 반사계수를 계산해 내었다. 성능 개선 기법으로서는 BCH 채널 부호화 기법과 MRC 다이버시티 수신 기법을 함께 채용하였고 패킷 길이, Rician 심도, 차량간 거리를 함수로 하여 시스템의 오율을 구하였다.
