  • For a successful inter-system handoff, several important issues must be handled and additional new features must be considered. This paper focuses on the cellular structure of small cells which are required for the high density of population and a handoff scheme designed between two heterogenous networks. Incase of inter-system handoff (ISHO), the time required to complete the handoff can vary and depends on the structure of networks. And also the transmission of additional signals can increase the probability of failure for ISHO. Here we propose the sub-boundary cell base station (Sub-BBS) to alleviate the role of the BBS. The Sub-BBS is adjacent to BBS in the same regional mobile network. 쪼en the mobile terminal enters Sub-BBS, the network starts finding a new route and after entering BBS, it initiates the transformation process. The proposed scheme significantly reduces the ISHO failure rate compared to the existing one which is the most recent and known as efficient.

  • To solve the cost problem of micro/picocell system, the fiber-optic cellular system was proposed. In this system, all channel elements are managed in Central Station, not in each base station. Also, all channel elements in a system can be dynamically assigned when the Spectrum Delivery Switch (SDS) is used. In this paper, we propose and analyze a new intergroup handoff scheme in the fiber-optic cellular system. The proposed scheme supports handoff with keeping current channel. Performance is evaluated with respect to the blocking probability and the handoff refused probability in both systems with SDS and without SDS. The numerical results show that the proposed scheme provides better performance than conventional soft handoff scheme.

  • In this paper, we analyze the traffic characteristics in microcell and macrocell overlaid PCS system which process voice and dta calls separately each others. in this system, data calls are delayed in queue when all of channels are occupied, while voice calls are bolcked in that case. For this, we calculated inter-microcell handoff area dwelling time distribution and handoff area dwelling time distribution between microcell and macrocell. We analyze traffic performance using this results. We used M/M/C/K model, and analyzed traffic performance of macrocell with handoff area variation of microcell.

  • This study addresses the analytic models for estimating the capacity and performance of the multi-carrierCDMA system where several carriers would be assigned to a single cell to accommodate the required trafficdemand. Two key features of the multi-carrier CDMA system, carrier selections of new calls and inter-camerhard handoffs, are accommodated in the models, Computation experiments are conducted to show the effectiveness of the proposed model.

  • The satellite networks provide global coverage. The integration of terrestrial networks with a satellite network is the most attractive approach to develop a global communication system. The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is intended to be the system that will merge the internet with the telecom world. A user with a dual-mode terminal can access both the satellite network and terrestrial network. The seamless handoff between two networks and a user's QoS level is the major issue concerning this integration. In this paper, we propose IMS-based satellite/terrestrial integrated network architecture for a global communication system. Based on the proposed architecture, an inter-network handoff and end-to-end soft QoS procedure is discussed. Our proposed soft QoS scheme is also analyzed to calculate the number of rejected calls.

  • The soft handoffs between two adjacent MSC's should be employed to support the calls requesting handoffs to an MSC while minimizing the undesirable ping pong phenomenon of back-and-forth handoffs between two adjacent cells in conventional hard handoffs. In this paper, the soft handoff scheme between two MSC's is considered using the trunk between the packet routers for the two MSC's. The trunk network is proposed to support the inter-MSC soft handoff scheme in the service area with many MSC's. The probability that a soft handoff to an adjacent MSC will be blocked due to the shortage of the trunk capacity is derived.

  • Recently, wireless Internet service has become generalized, and required the user authentication of a mobile hosts and QoS. However, time required for user authentication during handoff Processes between a wireless LAN system and mobile hosts is long, and is unsuitable for real-time communication and multimedia applications. In this paper. we improved the existing system in order to reduce a lead time of user authentication as they extended a Fast Inter-AP handoff. We use a Mechanism to assume a confidence degree with bases by the time that stayed at individual wireless LAN systems in order to reduce the handoffs. The experiment network shows that it decreases communication load, and improves communication QoS.

  • As a proposed standard for radio resource measurement, 802.11k aims to provide key client feedback to WLAN access points and switches. The proposed standard defines a series of measurement requests and reports that detail Layer 1 and Layer 2 client statistics. In this paper, we analyze handoff processing time, radio specrum usage and handoff coverage using this scheme in home-network inter APs handoff.

  • As the need for stable and high speed wireless Internet service Brows, the wireless LAN service provider hurries to preempt wireless LAN service market. IAPP(InterAccess Point protocol) is defined to be able to provide a secure handoff mechanism of wireless LAN terminal information between AP(Access Point)s, and the related IEEE standard is IEEE 802.11f. For the secure handoff of wireless LAN terminal, it is necessary to transfer terminal's authentication & accounting information securely from old AP to new AP IEEE 802.11f recommends RADIUS server as IAPP server which authenticates AP and provides information for secure channel between APs. This paper proposes IAPP server using Diameter protocol to overcome the limit of RADIUS sewer, and describes about the interaction between server components and integration method with the current IAPP client system.

  • In the WCDMA mobile multimedia communication system, the adaptive array antenna IS adopted to improve the performance of the system by reducing inter-user interference using antenna beam control. Usually, the interference resulted from the higher data rate users is much more significant to the lower data rate users than the other way around, so the overall performance can be enhanced by reducing the interference from higher data rate users. In order to maximize the efficiency of adaptive antenna operation, an optimal call admission control, especially during handoff, adaptive to the data rates is a critical problem. In this paper, We propose a call admission control algorithm based on the Soft QoS concept for the efficient processing of the handoff of higher data rate calls, and an adaptive handoff control mechanism according to the data rates. The proposed algorithm has been evaluated by computer simulation that it accommodates high data rate users among many lower data rate users much better, and the average call blocking probability for lower rate users becomes much lower than the conventional call admission control algorithm.
