  • The objective of this paper is to observe effects of an ignition position and time on the ignition transition. A gaseous oxygen and liquid kerosene are used for propellants with the shear-coaxial injector. In order to study the ignition delay time and combustion instability intensity, the pressure transducer was used. The ignition position was changed with the injector spacer. Sequences except the igniter operation time were fixed to compare the ignition time only. Initial pressure peak and ignition delay time increased as the ignition time was delayed. Also, the unstable flame development zone was detected as the igniter was away from the injector.

  • The compact structure and high-quality effluent of membrane bioreactors make them well-suited for decentralized greywater reclamation. However, the occurrence of membrane fouling continues to limit their effectiveness. To address this concern, a unique membrane module configuration was developed for use in a decentralized greywater treatment system. The module featured local aeration directly below a series of inclined membrane bundles, giving the overall module a twisted appearance compared to a module with vertically orientated fibres. The intent of this design was to increase the frequency and intensity of collisions between rising air bubbles and the membrane surface. Material related to the construction of custom-fit modules is rarely communicated. Therefore, detailed design and assembly procedures were provided in this paper. The twisted module was compared to two commercially available modules with diverse specifications in order to assess the relative performance and marketability of the twisted module with respect to existing products. Contaminant removal efficiencies were determined in terms of biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, ammonia, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, and turbidity for each module. Membrane fouling was monitored in terms of permeate flux, transmembrane pressure, and membrane resistance. Following 168 h of operation, the twisted module configuration demonstrated competitive performance, indicating good potential for further development and commercialization.

  • The integrity assessment of reactor vessel internals should be conducted in the design process to secure the safety of nuclear power plants. Various loads such as self-weight, seismic load, flow-induced load, and preload are applied to the internals. Therefore, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Code, Section III, defines the stress limit for reactor vessel internals. The present study focused on structural response analyses of the upper guide structure upper flange. The distributions of the stress intensity in the flange body were analyzed under various design load cases during normal operation. The allowable stress intensities along the expected sections of stress concentration were derived from the results of the finite element analysis for evaluating the structural integrity of the flange design. Furthermore, seismic analyses of the upper flange were performed to identify dynamic behavior with respect to the seismic and impact input. The mode superposition and full transient methods were used to perform time-history analyses, and the displacement at the lower end of the flange was obtained. The effect of the damping ratio on the response of the flange was also evaluated, and the acceleration was obtained. The results of elastic and seismic analyses in this study will be used as basic information to judge whether a flange design meets the acceptance criteria.

  • HID(high intensity discharge)lamps are high pressure mercury lamp, high pressure sodium lamp and metalhalide lamp. metalhalide lamp among these lamps has considered to be one of the most effective artificial light sources and this lamp has good efficiency, good color rendition and good focusing capability, But the shortcorning of metalhalide lamp is known as acoustic resonance phenomena in the discharge tube when lighted by electronic ballast and then acoustic resonance cause various problems such as the arc instability, light output fluctuations. In this paper, to reduce the acoustic resonence phenomena, the electronic ballast was designed by three methods for high frequency operation wish frequency-modulated sinusodial waves in acoustic resonance frequency band. These frequency-modulated methods are resonance frequency and resonance frequency, resonance frequency and non-resonance frequency non-resonance frequency and non-resonance frequency Experiment results could't show the Presence of acoustic resonance visually and it proved that the resonance-generating conditions can be avoided by continuously changing the two operating frequencies in acoustic resonance band (20.59kHz∼94.2kHz).

  • This paper describes a novel stereo vision based localization of free parking site, which recognizes the target position of automatic parking system. Pixel structure classification and feature based stereo matching extract the 3D information of parking site in real time. The pixel structure represents intensity configuration around a pixel and the feature based stereo matching uses step-by-step investigation strategy to reduce computational load. This paper considers only parking site divided by marking, which is generally drawn according to relevant standards. Parking site marking is separated by plane surface constraint and is transformed into bird's eye view, on which template matching is performed to determine the location of parking site. Obstacle depth map, which is generated from the disparity of adjacent vehicles, can be used as the guideline of template matching by limiting search range and orientation. Proposed method using both the obstacle depth map and the bird's eye view of parking site marking increases operation speed and robustness to visual noise by effectively limiting search range.

  • China possesses a passenger dedicated line system of large scale, passenger flow intensity with uneven distribution, and passenger nodes with complicated relations. Consequently, the significance of passenger nodes shall be considered and the dissimilarity of passenger nodes shall be analyzed in compiling passenger train operation and conducting transportation allocation. For this purpose, the passenger nodes need to be hierarchically divided. Targeting at problems such as hierarchical dividing process vulnerable to subjective factors and local optimum in the current research, we propose a clustering approach based on self-organizing map (SOM) and k-means, and then, harnessing the new approach, hierarchical dividing of passenger dedicated line passenger nodes is effectuated. Specifically, objective passenger nodes parameters are selected and SOM is used to give a preliminary passenger nodes clustering firstly; secondly, Davies-Bouldin index is used to determine the number of clusters of the passenger nodes; and thirdly, k-means is used to conduct accurate clustering, thus getting the hierarchical dividing of passenger nodes. Through example analysis, the feasibility and rationality of the algorithm was proved.

  • In this paper, maximum output of three different temperature conditions of the photovoltaic modules have been tested and compared to obtain the optimum conditions for the maximum power operation. Temperatures of the cell and module have been set to $20^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$ and $30^{circ}C$ under the constant light intensity of 1kW/$m^2$. 125${\times}$125mm 36 single crystal solar cells having 80 [W] each have been serially connected in the module. From the results, maximum output deviation of 4.67% has been obtained under the ceil temperature of $20^{\circ}C$ and module temperature of $30^{\circ}C$ while minimum deviation of 0.41${\sim}$0.92% has been measured under the same temperatures of cell and module. Therefore it has been found that the temperature of both cell and module should be fixed to $25^{\circ}C$ to obtain stable data unless the temperature coefficient should be compensated for the testing sample.

  • In order to provide a source for nine phases suitable for 18-pulse ac to dc power, this paper proposes a new structure for a step-up asymmetrical delta-connected transformer for converting three-phase ac power to nine-phase ac power. The design allows for symmetry between the nine output voltages to improve the power quality of the supply current and to minimize the THD. The results show that this new structure proves the equality between the output voltages with $40^{\circ}-{\alpha}$ and $40^{\circ}+{\alpha}$ phase shifting and produces symmetrical output currents. This result in the elimination of harmonics in the network current and provides a simulated THD that is equal to 5.12 %. An experimental prototype of the step-up asymmetrical delta-autotransformer is developed in the laboratory and the obtained results give a network current with a THD that is equal to 5.35%. Furthermore, a finite element analysis with a 3D magnetic field model is made based on the dimensions of the 4kVA, 400 V laboratory prototype three-phase with three-limb delta-autotransformer with a six-stacked-core in each limb. The magnetic distribution flux, field intensity and magnetic energy are carried out under open-circuit operation or load-loss.

  • This article deals with the application of reliability analysis for determining the safety of simply supported beam under the uniformly distributed load. The uncertainties of the existing methods were taken into account and hence reliability analysis has been adopted. To accomplish this aim, Generalized Regression Neural Network (GRNN), Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) and Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) models are developed. Reliability analysis is the probabilistic style to determine the possibility of failure free operation of a structure. The application of probabilistic mathematics into the quantitative aspects of a structure and improve the qualitative aspects of a structure. In order to construct the GRNN, ELM and GPR models, the dataset contains Modulus of Elasticity (E), Load intensity (w) and performance function (${\delta}$) in which E and w are inputs and ${\delta}$ is the output. The achievement of the developed models was weighed by various statistical parameters; one among the most primitive parameter is Coefficient of Determination ($R^2$) which has 0.998 for training and 0.989 for testing. The GRNN outperforms the other ELM and GPR models. Other different statistical computations have been carried out, which speaks out the errors and prediction performance in order to justify the capability of the developed models.
