An Experimental Study on the Accurate Tracking Control of a Transfer Crane Based on the 2DOF Servosystem Design Approach (트랜스퍼 크레인의 고정도 주행제어에 관한 연구 : 2자유도 서보계 설계법을 이용한 제어계 설계 및 실험적 연구)

  • The most important thing in acontainer terminal is to handle the cargo effectively in the limited time available. To achieve this objective, many strategies have been introduced and applied. To create an automated container terminal, it is necessary for the cargo handling equipment to be equipped with more intelligent control systems. From the middle of the 1990's, automated rail-mounted gantry cranes (RMGC) and rubber-tired gantry cranes (RTG) have been widely used to handle containers in yards. Recently, many pieces of equipment, like CCD cameras and sensors, have beenmounted in these cranes to cope with the automated terminal environment. In this paper, we try to support the development of more intelligent automated cranes, which allow for more effective cargo handling in yards. For this purpose, the modeling, tracking control, anti-sway system design, skew motion suppressing, and complicated motion control and suppressing problems must be considered. Especially, in this paper, the system modeling and a new tracking control approach are discussed, and an experimental study is performed based on a two-degree-of-freedom (2DOF) servosystem design.

From the simulation results, the good control performance of the designed control system is evaluated.

  • Dedicated Short Range Communication (DSRC) systems in urban areas are used to collect traffic information from vehicles and to provide vehicles with information received from Roadside Equipment (RSE) having a range of 100 meters (m). However, it is not practical to use RSE with a range of 100 m for express highways. In this paper, we expand the standard cell coverage of RSE to 300 m, and adopt fixed relays to cover sites that cannot communicate with the RSE. We demonstrate that the system using the fixed relays is more economical than using only RSE.

  • The study alms to seek a plan of applying the digital technology to housing for the elderly. The purpose of the study was to grasp the needs of the aged on 30 types of digital systems in housing. The subjects were 120 persons aged of more than 60 years and lived in Busan. Data were collected by the individual interview. The following results were drawn from this study. First, the needs of the aged on the digital systems categorized as safe and security, control of indoor environment, and housework support were very high and should be provided at first. Second, the necessary types of digital systems which should be provided to the digital home for the elderly were digital systems for heating control, health checking, sensing of fire and gas leak, and house cleaning. Also, the basic types of digital systems were ones for invasion and burglarproof, emergency, air cleaning, automatic facet, door locking, and waste collecting. Third, the Income and usage level of digital equipment of the aged influenced to the floods of the aged on the digital system. Therefore, in addition to the necessary and basic types of digital systems mentioned above, the income and usage level of digital equipment should be considered in planning the digital home for the elderly.

  • In this paper, semiconductor package inspection results using white light interferometer with large F.O.V., in order to apply semiconductor product inspection process, are shown. Experimental 3D data repeatability test results for the same special bumps of each substrate are shown. Experimental 3D data repeatability test results for all the bumps in each substrate are also shown. Semiconductor package inspection using white light interferometer with large F.O.V. is very important for the fast 3D data inspection in semiconductor product inspection process. This paper is surely helpful for the development of in-line type fast 3D data inspection machine.

  • Construction safety remains an ongoing concern, and project managers have been increasingly forced to cope with myriad uncertainties related to human operations on construction sites and the lack of a skilled workforce in hazardous circumstances. Various construction fatality monitoring systems have been widely proposed as alternatives to overcome these difficulties and to improve safety management performance. In this study, we propose an intelligent, automatic control system that can proactively protect workers using both the analysis of big data of past safety accidents, as well as the real-time detection of worker non-compliance in using personal protective equipment (PPE) on a construction site. These data are obtained using computer vision technology and data analytics, which are integrated and reinforced by lessons learned from the analysis of big data of safety accidents that occurred in the last 10 years. The system offers data-informed recommendations for high-risk workers, and proactively eliminates the possibility of safety accidents. As an illustrative case, we selected a pilot project and applied the proposed system to workers in uncontrolled environments. Decreases in workers PPE non-compliance rates, improvements in variable compliance rates, reductions in severe fatalities through guidelines that are customized according to the worker, and accelerations in safety performance achievements are expected.

  • In the present work, a comparative study has been carried out between power, exponential, and sigmoidal sandwich FGM plates for free vibration conditions under hygro-thermal conditions. Rules of mixture is used to determine effective material properties across the thickness for power-law and sigmoid sandwich FGM plates. Exponential law is used to plot effective material properties for exponentially graded sandwich FGM plates. Temperature and moisture dependent material properties were used during the analysis. Free vibration analysis is carried out using recently proposed finite element based HOZT. Present formulation satisfies interlayer transverse stress continuity conditions at interfaces and transverse shear stress-free conditions at the plate's top and bottom surfaces. The present model is free from any penalty or post-processing requirements. Several new results are reported in the present work, especially for unsymmetric sandwich FGM plates and exponential and sigmoidal sandwich FGM plates.

  • In this paper, the IED(Intelligent Electronic Devices) with the consideration of harmonic problems is discussed, With significant development of power electronics technology, the proliferation of a nonlinear load has more deteriorated power quality, As continuous harmonic current makes for a shortening lifetime, overheat and abnormal operation, it should be considered to improve these problems. However, the conventional digital protective relay which eliminates harmonic elements with orthogonal filter has a defect on actually implementation. The prototype IED is constructed with Digital Signal Processor(TMS320C32) and Complex Programmable Logic Device. According to the experiment and simulation results, it is proved that the proposed system has good performance of measuring harmonic factors and protecting electrical equipment.

  • The aim of this study was to establish a breathing assist system for saxophone players with breathing problems. Although the saxophone is a popular wind instrument with a reed in its mouthpiece, it can be difficult for people with breathing problems to play this instrument, as it requires adequate breath support for deep and even long breaths. To solve this problem, the authors propose a breathing assist device, which functions like a pneumatic master-slave amplifier, for saxophone players with breathing problems. First, the proposed device is fabricated. Second, the effectiveness of the breathing assist device as a master-slave amplifier is confirmed through experiments. Third, the dynamic characteristics of the device are tested up to 10 Hz, and they demonstrate that the device responds well for up to approximately 5 Hz.

  • CVO(Commercial Vehicle Operations) of Intelligent Transport Systems is the system to manage effciently cargo distribution as providing at real time the information of cargo location and situation through nS and GPS technology. In this paper, we proposed the Gate Automation System of harbors among AVI/AEI. To implement this system, we use the DSRC(Dedicated Short Range Communication) which adopts an wireless communication between RSE(Road-side Equipment) and OBE(on-Board Equipment) on a vehicle. When constructing the automation gateway system of harbors, the business application ability are reviewed practically and the logistics facilities to be constructed in the near future nay use this paper results according to the international standard and it could help complete integrated logistics system.
