This report introduces a definition for robot task intelligence and explains the basis of the challenges associated with implementing robot task intelligence in real-world problems. Two fundamental elements of this intelligence, robot manipulation and navigation, are introduced herein. We describe the existing trends and industrial applications of the robot task intelligence in logistics and agricultural automation. Furthermore, as an underpinning technology for this intelligence, we review the existing three-dimensional position estimation techniques and summarize the difficulties associated with applying pure SLAM technology to real-world applications. Finally, we discuss the prospects of the robot task intelligence research and its potential for solving real-world problems.
Mobile robot intelligence refers to planning the path of robots to move indoors and outdoors and establishing a physical action plan that can be driven safely and smoothly according to the surrounding environments' structures. This report introduces technical issues in mobile robot intelligence. Furthermore, we describe the latest mobile intelligence technology of four-legged walking, logistics, and agricultural robots. Finally, we discuss mobile robot intelligence research prospects and its potential for solving real-world problems.
This paper presents a new hybrid serial-parallel robot(HSPR), which has six degrees of freedom driven by ball screw linear actuators and motored joints. This hybrid robot design presents a compromise between high rigidity of fully parallel manipulators and extended workspace of serial manipulators. The hybrid robot has a large, singularity-free workspace and high stiffness. Therefore, the presented kinematic structure of the hybrid robot is particularly suitable for multi-tasking machining processes such as milling, drilling, deburring and grinding. In addition to the machining processes, the hybrid robot can be used for welding, fixturing, material handling and so on. The study on design of the hybrid robot is performed. A kinematic analysis and mechanism description of the hybrid robot with six-controlled degree of freedom is presented. In the virtual design works by DADS, workspace and force analysis are discussed. A numerical model is treated to demonstrate our analysis and to determine the range of permissible extension of the struts. Also, we determine some important design parameters for the hybrid robot.
As various mobile robots and manipulator robots have been commercialized, robots that can be used by individuals in their daily life have begun to appear. With the development of robots that support daily life, the interaction between robots and humans is becoming more important. Manipulator robots that support daily life must perform tasks such as pressing buttons or picking up objects safely. In many cases, this requires expensive multi-axis force/torque sensors to measure the interaction. In this study, we introduce a low-cost two-axis pressure sensor that can be applied to manipulators for education or research. The proposed system used three force sensitive resistor (FSR) sensors and the structure was fabricated by 3D printing. An experimental device using a load cell was constructed to measure the biaxial pressure. The manufactured prototype was able to distinguish the +-x-axis and the +-y-axis pressures.
Human-robot cooperative tasks are increasingly required in our daily life with the development of robotics and artificial intelligence technology. Interactive reinforcement learning strategies suggest that robots learn task by receiving feedback from an experienced human trainer during a training process. However, most of the previous studies on Interactive reinforcement learning have required an extra feedback input device such as a mouse or keyboard in addition to robot itself, and the scenario where a robot can interactively learn a task with human have been also limited to virtual environment. To solve these limitations, this paper studies training strategies of robot that learn table balancing tasks interactively using deep reinforcement learning with human's facial expression feedback. In the proposed system, the robot learns a cooperative table balancing task using Deep Q-Network (DQN), which is a deep reinforcement learning technique, with human facial emotion expression feedback. As a result of the experiment, the proposed system achieved a high optimal policy convergence rate of up to 83.3% in training and successful assumption rate of up to 91.6% in testing, showing improved performance compared to the model without human facial expression feedback.
Robot mobility and intelligence become more important for robots to be used in various fields other than automation. The main purpose of providing mobility to a robot is to extend the robot's manipulability. In this paper, we introduce a small humanoid robot that can autonomously play golf as an example of incorporating robot intelligence, mobility, and manipulability. The robot has 12 degrees of freedom for legs and has various basic walking patterns. It can move to a desired position and change orientation by combining the basic waking patterns. The robot has a color CCD camera and can extract coordinates of the objects in the environments. The small humanoid robot has 8 degrees of freedom for arms and can play golf autonomously with two kinds of dexterous swing motions. Kinematic analysis of the robot arms, vision data processing for the recognition of the environments, algorithm for playing robotic golf have been performed or proposed. The experimental results show that the robot can play golf autonomously.
Guide robots that provide services in public places have recently emerged as a non-face-to-face solution with the spread of COVID-19 and are growing. However, most guide robots provide only the same level of intelligence and the same interaction in different and changing environments. Therefore, its usefulness is limited and customers' interest is quickly lost. To solve this problem, it is necessary to develop social intelligence that can improve the robot's environment and situational awareness performance, and to continuously maintain customer interest by providing personalized and situational services. In this study, we developed guide robot services based on social HRI components that provides multi-modal context-aware. We evaluated service usefulness by measuring user satisfaction and frequency of use of the service through the survey. We analyzed the service quality attributes to identify the differentiating factors of guide robot based on social HRI components.
In this paper an intelligence embedding quadruped pet robot is described. It has 15 degrees of freedom and consists of various sensors such as CMOS image, voice recognition and sound localization, inclinometer, thermistor, real-time clock, tactile touch, PIR and IR to allows owners to interact with pet robot according to human's intention as well as the original features of pet animals. The architecture is flexible and adopts various embedded processors for handling sensors to provide modular structure. The pet robot is also used for additional purpose such like security, gaming visual tracking, and research platform. It is possible to generate various actions and behaviors and to download voice or music files to maintain a close relation of users. With cost-effective sensor, the pet robot is able to find its recharge station and recharge itself when its battery runs low. To facilitate programming of the robot, we support several development environments. Therefore, the developed system is a low-cost programmable entertainment robot platform.

The artificial intelligence of robot is the weakness of digital intelligence of a person who able to train, self-realize and to develop competences, creative, professional and behavioral skills. A new methodology proposed for managing robots inside the mines using an electronic system designed for driving robots to injured people in seas, mines or wells who can not be reached by human force. This paper also explains the concept of managing and remote-controlling the process of searching and helping the injured. The user controls the robot through an application that receives all the reports that the robot sends from the injured person. The robot's tasks are to take a sample of the blood of the injured person, examine it, and measure the percentage of oxygen underground and send it to the user who directs the robot to pump a specific percentage of oxygen to the injured person. The user can also communicate with the person The patient and determine his condition through the camera connected to the robot equipped with headphones to communicate with the injured and the user can direct the camera of the robot and take x-rays from the injured.
The intelligent robot industry is a complex which encompasses all fields of science and technology, and its marketability and industrial impact are remarkable. Major countries in the world have been strengthening their policies to foster the intelligent robot industry, but discussions on liability issues and legal actions that are accompanied by the related big or small accidents are still insufficient. In this study, therefore, the patent law by artificial intelligence robots and the legislation for relevant legal actions at the criminal law level are presented. Patent law legislation by artificial intelligence robots should comply with the followings. First, the electronic human being other than humans ought to be given legal personality, which is the subject of patent infringement. Even if artificial intelligence has legal personality, legal responsibility will be varied depending on the judgment of whether the accident has occurred due to the malfunction of the artificial intelligence itself or due to the human intervention with malicious intention. Second, artificial intelligence as a subject of actors and responsibility should be distinguished strictly; in other words, the injunction is the responsibility of the intelligent robot itself, but the financial repayment is the responsibility of the owner. In the criminal law legislation, regulations for legal punishment of intelligent robot manufacturing companies and manufacturers should be prepared promptly in case of legal violation, by amending the scope of application of Article 47 (Penal Provisions) of the Intelligent Robots Development and Distribution Promotion Act. In this way, joint penal provisions, which can clearly distinguish the responsibilities of the related parties, should be established to contribute to the development of the fourth industrial revolution.
