시청각 화자식별에서 신뢰성 기반 정보 통합 방법의 성능 향상 (Improvement of Reliability based Information Integration in Audio-visual Person Identification)

  • In this paper we proposed a modified reliability function for improving bimodal speaker identification(BSI) performance. The convectional reliability function, used by N. Fox[1], is extended by introducing an optimization factor. We evaluated the proposed method in BSI domain. A BSI system was implemented based on GMM and it was tested using VidTIMIT database. Through speaker identification experiments we verified the usefulness of our proposed method. The experiments showed the improved performance, i.e., the reduction of error rate by 39%.

  • Voice and data are transmitted over a single packetized data communications network which is designed for data communications. The public switched telephone network for voice and the packet data network for data are merging into a single data network to get efficiency and to reduce operational cost. However, integrating voice and data transmission over a single data network is not easy because voice should be transmitted without delay but data should be transmitted without error. Advances in technology begin to overcome basic differences. Several integration methods in voice and data will be examined and reviewed here. Moreover, trends and problems on integration will be also discussed.

  • This paper presents a new method for finding the Block Pulse series coefficients and deriving the Block Pulse integration operational matrices which are necessary for the control fields using the Block Pulse functions. In this paper, the accuracy of the Block Pulse series coefficients derived by using the Lagrange second order interpolation polynomial is approved by the mathematical method.

  • This paper shows simulation results for stability and performance of two INS/GPS integration systems. First, the code tracking error of GPS receiver is analyzed by spectrum analysis and simulated for the tight and loose INS/GPS integrations. Next, stability of the integrated systems are simulated using root locus method. As loop filter in the GPS receiver, passive filter and active filter are used and compared.

  • Existing radio positioning systems have a drawback that the attitude of user's tag is difficult to be determined. Although forward link angle of arrival (FLAOA) technology that uses measurements of array antenna arranged in a tag among the angle of arrival (AOA) technologies can estimate attitude and positioning of tags, it cannot extend the estimated results into three-dimensional (3D) results due to complex non-linear model displayed because of the effects of 3D positioning and attitude in tags. This paper proposed a radio navigation technique that determines 3D attitude and positioning via FLAOA / time of arrival (TOA) integration. According to the order of determining attitude and positioning, two integration techniques were proposed. To analyze the performance of the proposed technique, MATLAB-based simulations were used to verify the performance. The simulation results showed that the first proposed method, TOA-FLAOA integrated technique, showed about 0.15 m of positioning error, and $2-3^{\circ}$ of attitude error performances regardless of the positioning space size whereas the second method, differenced FLAOA-TOA integrated technique, revealed a problem that a positioning error became larger as the size of the positioning space became larger.

Price transmission in domestic agricultural markets: the case of retail and wholesale markets of maize in Rwanda

  • One of the main challenges receiving much attention in the Rwandan agriculture and food industry in recent decades is the increases in maize prices. Indeed, a rise in maize prices causes higher living expenses for households because maize, which is a major staple food crop, constitutes a significant share of total food consumption among households in Rwanda. The aim of this study was to assess the extent of integration and how prices are transmitted between retail and wholesale markets of domestic maize in Rwanda. This study used monthly data of retail and wholesale prices of maize from January 1995 to December 2019. This empirical investigation was based on a linear cointegration approach and an asymmetric error correction model framework. Using the augmented dickey-fuller residual-based test and the Johansen Maximum Likelihood cointegration test, the results revealed that the retail and wholesale markets of maize are integrated. Hence, prices in these markets do not drift apart in the long run. The results of the Granger causality test revealed that there is a unidirectional causal relationship flowing from wholesale prices to retail prices, i.e., wholesale prices influence retail prices. Accordingly, the results from the asymmetric error correction model confirmed the presence of a positive asymmetric price transmission between wholesale and retail prices of maize in Rwanda. Thus, we suggest that policymakers take a critical look at the causes and factors that may influence asymmetry price transmission.

Study on Estimating the Shape of a Ship by Integrating Radar Images

  • The image of an object obtained by the radar is not corresponding to its true shape, because the image of an object observed by the radar is receiving an influence such as multiple-reflections and expanded in bearing because of the beam width of a radar. In addition, a radio wave does not hit the entire surface of an object. Therefore, the image of the front side of a ship facing a radar antenna corresponds to its true shape. In this paper, a method to estimate a ship's shape by means of the integration of the front parts of images obtained from radars is proposed. In addition, a matter, which is observation error of each radar, in using multi-radars, and the process included in the proposed method for solving the matter, are described. As a result of the experiment, the accuracy of about 3 degrees in ship's heading and about 14 meters in length and about 9 meters in beam was obtained.

  • 추적이란 개념은 모델 중심의 개발에서만이 아니라 테스트를 위하여 매우 중요한 요소이다. 수직적인 추적은 모델로부터 테스트와 디버깅 단계에 이르기까지 시스템을 잘 관리할 수 있게 한다. 또한 테스트 단계에서 발견한 결함에 대한 오류를 추적할 때 발생하는 추상 수준의 오르내림을 추적가능성으로 극복하게 한다. 이 논문에서는 시스템 테스트 수준과 통합 테스트 수준에서 UML을 이용하여 수직적으로 연결하여 더욱 엄격한 테스트가 되는 방법을 제안한다. 실험을 통하여 추적이란 개념이 어떻게 작동하며 오류 부분을 찾아내는지 얼마나 효과적인지 보이며 모델에서 코드까지의 구체적인 사례를 이용하여 방법을 소개한다.

  • The objective of this research is to develop a measurement error model for sculptured surfaces in On-Machine Measurement (OMM) process based on a closed-loop configuration. The geometric error model of each axis of a vertical CNC Machining center is derived using a 4${\times}$4 homogeneous transformation matrix. The ideal locations of a touch-type probe for the scupltured surface measurement are calculated from the parametric surface representation and X-, Y- directional geometric errors of the machine. Also, the actual coordinates of the probe are calculated by considering the pre-travel variation of a probe and Z-directional geometric errors. Then, the step-by-step measurement error analysis method is suggested based on a closed-loop configuration of the machining center including workpiece and probe errors. The simulation study shows the simplicity and effectiveness of the proposed error modeling strategy.

정밀 GPS 위성궤도 결정 및 오차 특성 분석 (Precision GPS Orbit Determination and Analysis of Error Characteristics)

  • 동역학적 방법을 이용한 GPS(Global Positioning System) 위성궤도 결정을 위해 양방향 적분이 가능한 multi-step 방식의 수치적분기를 개발하였으며, 이는 GPS 위성 고도에서 마이크로미터 수준의 정확도를 보였다. 가속도 모델링에서 달, 태양 이외의 천체에 의한 인력은 매우 작으므로 태양복사압에서 경험적 모델로 대체하였다. 위성궤도 미지수는 수치적분된 위성궤도와 IGS(International GNSS Service) 정밀궤도를 이용하여 최소제곱방법으로 결정했다. 이를 위해서는 수치적분기에서 가속도와 함께 미지수에 대한 편미분값을 동시에 적분해야 한다. 추정된 위성궤도 미지수를 이용하여 계산한 잔차의 RMS(Root Mean Squares error)로 부터 위성궤도의 정확도를 검증했다. 2009년 3월 한달의 평균적인 궤도오차 RMS는 5.2mm 였으며, 궤도오차의 절대적인 크기는 위성체의 종류 및 위성진행방향기준 좌표계 상에서 특별히 편향된 형태를 보이지는 않는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서 적용한 태양복사압 모델은 상수항 및 궤도당 1주기에 대한 변화만을 포함하고 있으므로, 궤도당 2주기에 해당하는 궤도오차 양상을 크게 보이고 있으며 이에 대한 추가적인 연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.
